We are called Americans, because no other coutry actually has America in its name. also because it sounds a whole lot better than united statians (wtf???) plus on a more technical note, there are two continents--North America and South America, not a single continent

I listen to a few dozen versions of this song, and like this version the most, clear to hear each word, and easy to sing along .

All other versions have singers' personal flavor, hard to understand and sing along.

No i understand and respect what your saying. Some British people say that they created pretty much everything. Well ya they created a lot like they pretty much invented literature but mostly they were famous for stuff from before the 16th century. But when they like to take credit for stuff that they didn't make. Like for an example The Star Spangled banner and another big thing is the Air Plane. Which was made by Americans.

We have a lot of great inventions. Thomas Edison etc for example, we are one of the few great powers the world has ever seen. The British also have a lot of great inventions as well. We didn't invent the airplane(French did) but we did the FIRST POWERED FLIGHT in history in 1903(Wright Brothers)

exactly. British people say that it was a British man that wrote it. Well the man was born in England but he hated the English laws and hated the king so he went to the British colonies and became an American which stood for the people standing up to the Mother country Britain and willing to die for Freedom.
