@TheOpenMinded12460 Watch Rape in The Bible, Slavery in The Bible, and Racism in The Bible on Youtube! Thanks, please BE OPEN MINDED! If God cared would their be starving children in Africa? No, because God wouldn't let rape, child beatings, war, famines, deaths, etc. continue. Also, Christians would be fed, not in war, and not raped, and non-Christians would continue to suffer and die. Think about it. Jesus must not love if he lets people suffer, die, get raped, children get beaten etc.
Sadly, @josegrivassr or zacch78 are the kind of sincere people whose thoughts are controlled by the Watchtower organization. They're not capable of challenging the WT interpretation of Scripture, or getting out of that rut. My wife Jackie understood that, and now we're out of the JW cult, and capable of making our own decisions. We don't need 5 weekly meetings or door-2-door preaching to have access to God's amazing Holy Spirit.
@josegrivassr I believe Daniel doesn't believe that the JW's themselves are wrong. It's the Watchtower organization that has twisted the Bible throughout the years, and because it's so heretical, the Watchtower organization isn't seen as an orthodox brand of Christianity. Sadly, the JW's are seen as another cult of Christianity, similar to Seven-Day Adventists and Mormons.
@josegrivassr By the way, I think 2.2 billion people trumps a mere 7 million JW's. 2.2 billion people who call on Jesus as their Lord and Savior. 2.2 billion people who believe that God was fully man and fully God.
So if josegrivassr thinks that 7 million JW's, plus a few Bethelites and the Governing Body in NY are right, and 2.2 billion Christians are wrong... uuuuhh well good luck with that!!!!
Jehovahs Witnesses believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, and instead of adhering to a creed based on human tradition, they hold to the Bible as the standard for all their beliefs.
@zacch78 Yes, Daniel is very familiar with the Bible. He simply refuses to go along with the Watchtower-approved "Bible" answers that he was brainwashed to believe for years. A religion that holds all the answers allows no questions. Sadly, JW's are trained to believe that it is wrong to question the Watchtower, and any former member who does is considered an "Apostate". So there goes the possibility of any intelligent discussion with present-day JW's.
The purpose of the Watchtower is to promote Bible reading. It discusses how we can use Bible principles in our modern day. One is supposed to research with their Bible while reading the an article in The Watchtower to confirm and see for oneself the basis for its thoughts.
Of coarse a JW may have questions just like everyone else. But actually we are encouraged to research and test the things we've learned. Notice what it says at 1 John 4:1 , and Proverbs 14:15.
@zacch78 Zach, it's funny that you say "actually we are encouraged to research and test the things we've learned." Let's say you've been harboring doubts, for many years about WT teachings.. Let's say that you somehow came to learn that mainstream Christianity doesn't follow the same thought pattern as the Organization. Then you decided to investigate on your own. No Watchtowers, no Insight on the Scriptures. Then come back and tell me what you found out.
Well those are some of the tools mostly likely to be used in addition to the Bible. However I've seen examples of other Bible translations, newspaper articles, encyclopedias, science journals, history books, and personal experiences from other used as research as well.
@zacch78 Sure, that's what the Watchtower Society would have you believe. But ask yourself: if the organization calls itself "the truth" and a "spiritual" paradise, why aren't there any theologians, Bible scholars or the like who consider the Watchtower teachings seriously? Sure, your publications and videos will quote freely from different scholars whenever it suits the WT's purposes. But ask yourself why the organization goes to such lengths to label all of Christianity as "the false religion"
@DanAtreides JWs teach a very unpopular message, and most will disagree with them. Notice what it says at John 15:18-20. Jesus indicated that his followers would be separate from the world, and because of that, the world would hate them. I realize then, that if I were part of an organization that the majority of the world liked and agreed on, then I might be in the wrong religion. What enables JWs to judge other religions is because they have learned from the Bible what true religion requires.
@zacch78 That JW interpretation of John 15:18-20 is completely baseless. There's no honest exegesis done by anyone at the WT headquarters. Besides, the JW's say that they're governed exclusively by the Bible. That's a very attractive claim to make, but when they're vehemently using Scripture to support their heretical anti-Trinitarian teachings, something is definitely wrong. Any cult like yours that makes Jesus Christ, the Father and the Holy Spirit anything besides the Holy Trinity is a heresy
@zacch78 By the way, zacch, since the Organization hasn't changed that much in the last 20 years or so, it makes me wonder: What are you doing talking to an "Apostate" like me? It should be clear by now that I'm the same Daniel that's featured in the video. I'm sure your elders and Circuit Overseers/District Overseers wouldn't be too happy if you tell them you've been talking to a disassociated person who doesn't think that the Organization is neither "the truth" nor "the slave".
@DanAtreides This is a very good point and probably the one that caused me to reconsider becoming a JW.
The Watchtower writers refernce and quote from many different sources, including religious sources. And yet, members are discouraged from reading these same sources themselves with the exception of those that are included in Watchtower articles. I have to say, though, that I do agree with SOME of the teachings, just not all. No one has a monopoly on the truth.
@DanAtreides THsi was another reason that I reconsidered becoming a JW. I couldn't ilve happily in a Watchtower box. I don't agree with all the interpretations of Christendom but I don't agree with all the JW interpretations, either. If free thinking were not frowned upon so much, I would be a JW. But I had too many questions. I know that Christians outside of the Watchtower have died for Christ. Will Jehovah overlook that simply because they may have believed the Jesus was God?
I thank the Father in Jesus name for your testimony. May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you; May His love continue to guide and enlighten you.
May His blessings, yet to come, rain upon you always!
