  • These type of basses (with the bottom section of the body cut away) have become quite common. As a bass player I've seen them around more and more. Apparently there's a guy in New York who started doing this. Their purpose? they're much lighter and easier to carry around while on tour, especially on airplanes. They're normally bastards towards bass players. I once had to pay over 1000 bucks to get my bass on board (more than the whole tour's wages) or else I'd have to leave it behind...

  • new york cab drivers stopped accepting passengers with ordinary size basses so a ny bass shop owner designed this one. it doesn't get much uglier. but have you tried touring with a double-bass?

  • Saw them playing in Bilbao. Very good but they played for only one hour and ten minutes. I ended a bit pissed off.
