my dad is thinkin of buyin me a truck all i know about it is its a 85 ford but i dont know what kind its square in the front and just has a big ford emblem in the middle of the hatch ive had cars all my life and know nothing about older trucks
they need to make a 2.3L powerstroke turbo diesel that be able to fit in rangers ford needs to make more rangers like that it would be a nice truck to own for light loads
@mrclaytonio in europe the ford Transit (van), had a 2.5 non turbo, and a 2.5 turbo diesel available throughout the 90s, maybe you shoudl try to import one of those engines, they're very reliable and very cheap becasue there are literally thousands of them in scrapyards, the vans had a production run from the end of 86 up to 00, the turbo ones onyl came in the late 90s though. the modern ranger you can get in europe comes with a 2.5litre turbo diesel also
My 83 diesel wouldn't even do that! Mainly because of a posi rear axle. Check out my vids of it. I have a 0-60 if you can bare to whatch a vid that long LOL
I'm sure this truck is very economial but it could use a large tubocharger. And it'd need some tranny upgrades to handle the extra power. It would deffinately be a good investment.
not even 50 hp?? Wow!! Motor belongs on industrial equipment instead of a vehicle, but i bet it gets great mileage. Would be great to to drive back and forth to work or school.
that's 50 tractor horsepower,,not car horsepower. industrial horsepower ratings are a lot more heavy than car horsepower. our ford tractor has a 400 cu. in. diesel with only 130 hp, the same as our toyota camry. don't tell me a 2.2 liter car engine can pull a 4 bottom plow across the field just as good as an almost 7 liter tractor engine. dont be fooled.
The difference between the 130hp diesel and the 130hp gas is the amount of torque it makes and the engine RPM at which it makes it. The camry wouldnt have the power at a low enough speed to pull a plow nor would it have the traction that a tractor has. It would probably do it if you put some low gears in it and maybe used it in front of a transfer case in 4 low. Get those RPMs high at a low speed. But then it would drink fuel like crazy.
i know about the RPM difference. but even if you reved the camry up to 6 grand and adjusted the gears, there's no god damn way it can keep up with the tractor. maybe for about 5 seconds before the head blows off.
And I thought my 2.3L with 88hp was underpowered...

no. there are 2 different models. the older ones with the 2.2l were without a turbo and then the 2.3l had a turbo
