  • They should hire Borat. He was able to put Kazakhstan on the map.

  • Caspian Sea is not really a sea. It is a big lake.

  • Think China's uninhabited cities. This was not the most practical use of resources. Like someone else posted, they should have put the money into their education system and infrastructure. 60% unemployment is sad for any country. I think the vision was misdirected and unsophisticated in retrospect. Hard to un-do such and error in judgement over time. I'm sure he had good intentions but just the wrong focus, perhaps. Costly.

  • This looks just like North Korea's failed attempt at tourism.

  • If you build it-they will come!

    -Or not...

  • turkmenistan needs its own spring; but the nutcases in power are puppets to both the white house and the kremlin. It's such an unfair world in a land of so much wealth yet its citizens live in dire poverty. Most of the world don't even know where Turkmenistan is, and with other, freer, nicer destinations who wants to go there?

  • Great, but after allowing more than a single party to be legal.

  • Wasn't Turkmenistan essentially the "North Korea" of Central Asia under Turkmenbashi a few years ago?

  • BTW what's with the eyebrow?!!

    1:23

  • I don't understand why some presidents put their pictures all over their countries!! Here in Syria we have photos and statues of the president , his brother, his father and his political allies wherever we go its like a nightmare. After the revolution these pictures are being torn and most of the statues either destroyed or removed by the government.

  • @Mjayiesm Big pictures everywhere means "THIS MAN is BIG & VERY IMPORTANT"!

If you randomly ask WHO contributed more to the Constitution of the United States of America --- the longest ruling document in the world --- likely 7 out of 10 Americans WON'T know him, visually or namewise; & those who say they do, MOST would give you WRONG answers like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Kennedy, or George W. Bush!

But HE was very important. Yet, we do NOT worship him! Don't even know him!

  • @Mjayiesm I'm sure it's not as bad as Turkey!

  • @Mjayiesm It's called a cult of personality, it's a form of propaganda, usually, used by dictators, to create a false idealised image of themselves for the masses.

  • money laundering... these projects only have money going into well connected pockets... for and by the rich. poverty alleviation is not on any of these people's minds.

  • LMAO at "All over the world... from Kazakhstan... and... also Kazakhstan! All over the world"

  • And, not unlike the recently departed "Dear Beloved Leader" of North Korea, when Turkmenistan's Glorious Leader of the Great People dies, he expects his people to drop to the dirt, roll around, beat their chest repeatedly for 2 hours, cry for 5 days straight (artificial tear inducing liquids provided).... and mourn him for 18 days, with all institutions and businesses closed down....and then conduct a 5 mile-long procession taking his body to a $2B mausoleum!

  • What a failure...

  • You Misspelled Turkmenistan. You put an E Between K and M.

  • looks like a bloody revolution in the making....

  • I can't wait to go there.....

  • wait a minute. isnt this gonna kill the human race because its causing CO2? i think we should get the US and NATO involved and these people should be brought to justice. world government.

  • they need more advertising in europe usa etc. (especially on tv) so they maybe be get more tourists.

  • maybe he should put his money into improving his country, such as giving the people better education, jobs, healthcare and things that benifit the community. not spending everything on a failed idea of a resort in a country where not even the average person could afford to stay for one night.

  • @DarkFlaze I agree.

  • @DarkFlaze you are right bro. And sorry for my ignorance but this is the first time I hear about this country.

  • @DarkFlaze Well "supposedly" the idea would be to bring capital into the country, boosting the living standards of the population. But, really truly, I have a feeling that its just a bonkers personal get-rich-quick scheme that he has no intention of sharing with Turkmenistan's inhabitants.

  • @DarkFlaze Why so negative?..bosting the economy means better life...

  • @DarkFlaze

obviously gas resources is not enough so maybe bringing some westerns fat asses would boost economy

  • @DarkFlaze I agree that this will not bring better education and healthcare. But this hotel definitely provided job opportunities for people. Do you know how many people it takes to staff a resort?

  • @DarkFlaze well this is actually a way for the country to make much more money and with that help people get a better education, jobbs, healthcare and such as you put it. Because, that actually "creates" money which can be used.

  • @DarkFlaze Maybe the resorts will generate money to PAY FOR THOSE THINGS. Did that ever occur to you? Leaders can't just wave a wand and give everybody everything. There has to be a requisite revenue stream to fund those things.

  • @Tokopol He already has funds from Turmenistan's huge supply of natural resources. Tha's how he got the money to build the resort.

  • @Alhazem1 The beach resort is a one-off capital outlay. Social programs are ongoing drains. Understand the difference between the two. Turkmenistan's gas reserves aren't enough to cover everything, or else they already would be paying for everything. Besides, gas runs out and tourism doesn't. Spending something non-renewable on something that doesn't generate a return instead of investing it in something that can actually sustain the programs is categorically illogical.

  • @Tokopol "Turkmenistan's gas reserves aren't enough to cover everything, or else they already would be paying for everything"

Turkmenistan's gas reserves have not even been developed to the extent that they can reach any foreign markets.

Their gas reserves have the ability to make them amongst the wealthiest Counties in the world, educate EVERYONE, AND PROVIDE all of them with the wealth to support even the poorest families by eliminating poverty in their entire Country.

  • @Tokopol Did it ever occur to you that simply having the 3rd largest gas reserves in the world puts them in the unique positions of using a fraction of that gas as COLLATERAL on

low interest loans from the Countries that represent the potential consumers of the gas, AND ANY OTHER Country.

They don't need money from hotels to do anything.

  • @DarkFlaze They dont have the money to give people better healthcare, and if they did thats not going to generate any more money.

  • Did you know that people from Turkmenistan are called Turkmens?

  • Nice chemtrails

  • LOL "people come from ALL OVER THE WORLD....my husband's friend...from KAZAKHSTAN" lulz
