  • @tolisBFMV Yes,duh.I've been using lion for a bit and it works.

  • As a ubuntu user i have to say this looks identical. We are reaching singularity!

  • where can i steal a mac?

  • @WindowsSoftwareDe your local library

  • What do you use to screen record

  • What a piece of shit

  • @tomnikond600 like your face...hahahahaha

  • @tolisBFMV Well. that it may be. But the fact that this video is a piece of shit. And You Tolis... mmm maybe you are a piece of shit as well. not just your face, but actually your whole body, soul and being. Why don´t you just shoot yourself and born again. Maybe just maybe you might get lucky and be be born being a toilete for people like me to shit on. Cheers!

  • @dunsparceus Lets talk about variety. But not the system itself, but human factor. Some like it this way, some doesnt and prefer it to be PRESET. Some loves the Hassle and some just likes to keep it Simple. This is the most bacis way to differentiate users for both.

I've used both, neither are perfect. But i'm loving what i'm currently using and prefer to stay that way for a very long time. Aesthical and reliability-wise.

  • Thats about it for this fanboy-ish comment (including me and others)

I use what i needed, and i needed a mac. Reason for this is that i just needed something that works out of the box.

It's been years for me with my PC; its fast, cheaper, customization etc. But heck its not even reliable. What i've spent on my PC could get me a top-tier iMac, literally.

All that apart, im not saying either 1 of em is good. They're both the same. But i know which one i NEEDED most at the time being.

  • @dunsparceus Okay idiot, I am reading your statement. Whatever it is, there is no end to ur stupidity as well. Yap all you like. I hold my line with reliability and aesthetic. Not customization headache etc. etc.. At the end of the day after customization, ur pc cost double or triple from the original price you've bought, to no guarantee if it is reliable. Like i've said before, for my side of usage, i'm done with tweaking and i just want it to work right out of the box.

  • @dunsparceus Why would i want to compare 95 to 7? are there any particular reason i should when its just the same Window?

I myself have been with windows for such a long time, most got lucky with it and some don't. Consider myself unlucky or whatever, switching to mac changes everything.

People can yap everything about windows, and at the same time im not saying that Mac is all BEST. But reliability-wise, what would people choose? Window or Mac? And upgrading cost money, not words.

  • @dunsparceus Nevertheless. From what I've experienced, windows are still the same. Be it 95 or 7. I only got those annoying PC viruses the first few month of using it (mostly via thumbdrive), and was able to takecare of it later on. But then again, even after all the changes till 7, the problem isnt solve, AT ALL. Windows PC reliable-wise, I doubt it. Mac PC reliable-wise, yes.

Besides, my workstation are mostly for work. Not gaming. I needed something reliable, not one that needs more tweaking.

  • 1 thing that most dont understand and like to make the comparison between windows and macs, are the aesthetic.

It is human nature to love aesthetic. Gimme one thing about windows that is aesthetic.

Of course windows had all those years back. But, windows still feels the same even with its overhaul since win95; buggy, viruses-magnet, crash, etc.

What good is a world athlete for if they get sick ALL THE TIME; What good is a fast windows pc if its still the same buggy system.

  • @NeroTutorials Ubuntu is based off of Linux. Mac OS X is based off of Nextstep which is bassed of off Unix. How is Apple stealing the Launchpad idea for Ubuntu? Apple took it from iOS which was released in 2007. Check your sources before you speak.

  • this came out on the 25th of feb??? wtf

  • dots still under applications

  • i m window user but apple iphone user...i hav to say simply apple is great...every software they make is so so beautiful.......wooooowwwww

    RIP steve

  • God Damn PC sucks.

  • On the keynote they said launcher shoews applications that are installed in any part of your computer is that true now?

  • its like vista on mac XD

  • After watching some Windows 8 and Lion videos, I'm disappointed to conclude that there's still no good options. The OSs still suck and lion fails on the most basic level. It's all about eye candy. Not even CTRL+ X, CTRL V is available on that joke of a file manager know as Finder. The contents in the "Get Info" menu are still laughable and don't even get me started on the epic failure that is Windows 8. We have no choice.

  • @eatshitgoogle "Not even CTRL+ X, CTRL V is available on that joke of a file manager know as Finder". Are you talking about cut and paste? Because Macs use command+x and command-v etc.

  • @MrGrundylicious Reeeally? I'll be damned... In other words, you haven't even tried doind what you just described in Finder, right?

  • @eatshitgoogle of course i have. How else would I know?

  • lion is a POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my mac now takes literally 10 minutes to boot.. i have to fuck around with the wifi settings for another 30 minutes & it beach balls every 10 seconds!! i want to go back to snow leopard...

  • Thanks so much for this review. Some of the new features might look interesting but they need a lot of work and feedback. Guess I'd rather stay with the ol' snowy cat for a while.

  • pls answer, if i get it os x lion from the app store do my files get deleted and formatted or will they stay?

  • @josephzein They stay.

  • bunch of iHatin' crybabies... jesus.

get your panties all in a wad over an OS.

and no, I don't even own an iPhone.

  • Screw this OS....my wifi connection is f*&%ed....my power consumption on my macbook pro is now more now than the power supply gives so when I do anything that requires a little bit of processor work, the thing slowly drains my battery until it dies. Thanks apple, I appreciate this. I'm going back to snow leopard, back before apple became retarded and makes an os that doesn't add anything of value. The apple forums are broken at the moment so I'm just gonna rage and leave this here.

  • They really should integrate quicksilver into the OS. That was one of the reasons I originally switched from Windows to Mac. At first, I thought it was just a simple app launcher. But having used the Mac for almost a year, I find that the reason quicksilver was so amazing was due to the ease at which it could access all of OS X's functionalities. Apple have made a very neat and organized OS on which they can build more things with ease. How many Mac users have had to defragment their disks?

  • All "effects"???

  • ctrl key?! i thought i was comand key! *looks at mac* yep comand -.-

  • can you like open spotlight in a launchpad in a spaces window and show that in expose with dashboard transferring it through airport with you magic mouse swiping it through retina display with your time machine while masturbating on your dock?

  • @acidmeat I believe you can...

  • I don't understand all the hype. It seems all Apple did was add a few fancy effects. The touchpad gestures are a good idea though.

  • *lol* This is funny.. You buy a mac computer to over price and you only get this! Haha funny, Your video must be a joke. Windows vista, Win 7 and even win XP can do that for years! And you are still in the stone age! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Good video on Lion, but Apple seems to be taking a different direction. iOS has been so successful, that it's just a matter of time before they discontinue OS X. Windows 7 is a must have even on an overpriced Mac. (seriously, I took apart my Mac and absolutely nothing fancy...just another typical motherboard). Check out the Windows 8 tablet reviews on YouTube...this will become the next dominant OS for tablets, phones and PC's. Can't wait for my Win8 tablet! Some really cool features....watch

  • Hey. Can u like, open Launcchpad in a Spaces window and then swip to your desktop? Because that could be something like a desktop launchpad shortcut..

  • Great video

  • Lion OSX Build 11a2063 - thepiratebay /torrent/6588742

  • yeah mine has the dots

  • they are saying a lion is better then a leapord?

  • Once you go Mac I promise you windows will be in the rear view mirror. Not saying windows is bad...just Mac is so smooth. ;) good luck

  • @bradleygene03 Actually I was complete opposite, bought iMac then couldn't stand OS so I installed Windows 7 via bootcamp. Haven't been on Mac partition in months and can't wait to sell this overpriced underspec'd machine for a good PC.

  • I'm glad you said 10 not os 'X'.

  • useless os upgrade. ill stick with snow leopard thank you

  • launchpad is useless. you have to flip through 5 pages to find an application.

I would rather just use spotlight or alfred.

  • do you lose all of your data when you update from snow leopard to lion???

  • Full screen, they are bragging about full screen, SERIOUSLY??? we have had that in like windows 95. and look at the internet its not even full screen its the same thing with both sides completely covered in white while the youtube site is in the middle thats not full screen lol.

  • @alexnzxVersion2 Ok, first of all... Windows 95 had full screen in some applications, just like every other OS in the world had. All Apple did was introduce native full screen mode for ALL applications, not selected ones that have it built in. That has never been seen before in an other OS. Actually, yes that was fullscreen, it is taking full advantage of your screen. Stretching it out would be stupid, everything would get pixilated (Fullscreen isn't just scaling stuff like Windows does).

  • @MacIsTheGeek Some applications. On windows, you can put full screen to more than 95% percent of applications, very very few unheard of ones you can't. And windows has like 10 times the programmes and apps as Mac or any other OS. How is making both sides of the screen completely white putting them to use? It is better to stretch it out.

  • @MacIsTheGeek Windows has had native full screen for almost all applications since version 1.0 in 1985.

Not all apps in lion have full screen, just selected ones. The finder window does not have a button to make it full screen. Windows does not scale stuff, where have you seen that?

  • @MacIsTheGeek > Fullscreen isn't just scaling stuff like Windows does

Really ? how dumb are you ?

  • @alexnzxVersion2 Windows 95 !!! Ha ha ha. That was the biggest joke OS of all time.

  • @alexnzxVersion2 It's built into the OS as an API and it's all about Mission Control and three-finger-switching and the super-convenient window button instead of having all apps using their OWN full screen, which can be really inconsistent.

  • @alexnzxVersion2 Fullscreen in Windows simply pins the existing window to the sides of the screen. The fullscreen apps in Lion in many cases serve up a new interface layout that's actually tuned towards using that particular app in a fullscreen environment. Very different.

  • Wow mac is more like a phone than a computer, its a joke, can they not just have a start button making it easier to get to all your applications

  • @alexnzxVersion2 A Start button? Who the hell needs that, when you can click Launchpad and see all of your installed applications in one place. Instead of have an ugly ass cluttered menu. How the hell are they turning more into a phone?! Did Apple strip any features? No. They simply simplified the interface.

  • @MacIsTheGeek They have stripped hella-ton of features. rofl

  • @foxyd3 Name one.

  • @MacIsTheGeek For instance, they limit the hell out of customization. They force you to work their way. There are literally no power features other than the terminal. Etc. By the way, watch your own video, you yourself listed many features which you hoped they would include.

On a side note, Apple makes much more money in the mobile market. You should expect the quality of their pc software to continue to decline.

  • @MacIsTheGeek yeah, if by simplifying you mean dumbing it down so much even my dog's retarded puppies made with my neighbor's cat understand

  • @alexnzxVersion2 Obviously you havent seen the upcoming Windows 8 with live tiles.

  • @spededpat I know i hate the windows 8 thing, I use 7 at the moment and it is the best OS i have ever seen, i will be getting an imac in a few months, looking foward to using something different, windows all my life.

  • @alexnzxVersion2 why complain about apple if yoru already happy with your windows computer?

  • Haters will hate and i´m one of them! (Mac OSX Lion user)

  • I HATE THE SCROLLING.

  • i dont see the point of launchpad when you have a dock and application folder...

  • ical's app date is not correct showing 17 and is different from the 25th shown on the bottom dock. Really? And as far as making your notebook look like the IPAD, no thanks, I have an Ipad already, i like how Snow Leopard shows your background fully and not with the apps in the background. I'm a recent Apple converter but I will not be downloading this update for 30$.

  • There is actually a app kinda like launchpad that is on the app store but you can put anything you want on it including folders and files. it is called QUICKPICK

  • really really nice...

  • you pointed out features that are in snow leopard and said they were new

you could already go into full screen on your web browser using google chrome in snow leopard

  • You forgot to show Autosave and Versions and the reboot (everything will be like the last time) Please show that, too

  • @ErrorNINETEEN lots of under the bonnet modifications as well, you choos if you wanna update or not...

  • Launchpad looks useless and Mission Control is just overwhelmingly complicated. I like the way Expose and Spaces are right now...

  • Are you going to use launchpad very much?

  • @ErrorNINETEEN you know what is ironic... IT IS 29$

  • dude... i fu go to system prefences u can chenge the scrolling and same with the dot when an application is running.. and everyapp you donwload, u have to go to applications and from there u add it to your dock... u dont go from launch pad to dock.......

  • Full screen apps...Really?I can do that right now with Opera browser. All you have to do is press: ⇧⌘F and get full 100% screen real estate w/o the menu bar. I don't know why iOS is migrating over to OSX:Lion??? It should be the other way around. The 2 reason's why I'll never get an Ipad is no real keyboard (fixable with BT keyboard case) and 2. it's not OSX kind of like going backwards for me.

  • Thank God this video is so old. All that crashing was scaring me. Of course, he was recording his screen at 1080p on a Macbook Air...

  • this is July, but its still not out yet -_-

  • I'm actually eating an apple now

  • @TheTechnoToast Hahahahah

  • Dude, I've been looking for iOS-like scroll bars for Linux since 2009 or so, ever since I bought my iPod touch. I recognise their usefulness for small screens (iPod, iPhone), but it's just a very very good idea for bigger screens too. And Apple figured it out.

Mouse scrolling thing is just simply retarded. If you actually imagine the wheel on the screen turning, you can't help but wonder if Apple is stupid or what. We've been scrolling for decades this way and they suddenly decide it's better??

  • i want blue galaxy wallpaper!!

    not pinky LOL

  • @11rcoaster go into photoshop and change the hue

  • thats just beta version, is gonna come out better

  • thumbs up if you prefer snow leopard!

  • i think the best part of lion will be launchpad because I always have trouble finding various items on my mac book

  • They should add bootcamp in it... Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Apple beats Windows/Microsoft in everything what they do. I love you apple

  • @Martinezjoelbachmann Only in the mac app store for $29.99. and no it does not erase your current files, so your all good.

  • @ErrorNINETEEN it is only 20 pounds

  • Look there's a crater on mount fuji! about on the right side. what happened to it? what caused the crater??? is there such thing as iCrater?

  • To get the blue dots back on the dock you need to dig through settings a little bit.

  • man i hope it will come on dvd

  • @ErrorNINETEEN

Yeah, Lion is 29$ and you get it on the mac app store, so it's even easier!

  • they just added full screen? you've been able to do that in windows for ages....not to mention the maximize button in windows....always hated that about macs, that stupid green button hardly does anything except make the window a little bigger but never fills the screen....

  • @GRonnoc

Full screen mode is not new, but systemwide full screen mode for every app and a convenient way to switch between fullscreen apps is indeed new and I don't think it has been done before in any other desktop GUI.

  • the only thing i don't like is the "buttons" look more like windows buttons.

  • New buttons!

  • Where goes Ichat, Time macine and Garageband?

  • is that the original wallpaper? NICE!

  • wow fullscreen wait a sec its 2011 i love how apple treats its users as slaves

  • @ErrorNINETEEN It's only a preview though, not the full version.

  • very nice video mate, thanks for the upload.

  • oh crap, I'm a folder lover and it takes me an eternity to get all my apps into specific folders.

APPLE, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, NOW I'M GOING TO WASTE HALF OF MY LIFE PUTTING IN A BILLION APPS INTO FOLDERS lol

  • @Onewa80 lol i hear you. they have been completely on this folder rampage "Now everything has a home! And if it doesn't, GIVE IT ONE! Stick it in a folder. And if you lose that folder --- you can go back in time to find the folder" Sigh at the risk of sound old, what happened to the clean simple apple I knew and loved :(

  • there are settings in the beta to put the dots back underneath the apps on the dock

  • If they made it so F3 was a option between what it is now and Launchpad... it would be epic. Just click F3 and all your applications pop up... no more searching in Finder or the Spotlight search bar.. just click it and memorize where you put it

  • @alexantwan01 i don't know, i find spotlight a lot more effective as a launcher than the launchpad. just type whatever you want. no need to search with your eyes and mouse for the icon.

  • Why would they take all the colors out of the icons in eg Finder etc? Like seriously, if I wanted a non-color interface I'd go back to the 50s. Most people probably don't care about that but to me it's really annoying, already hated it when they did that with the icons in iTunes..

  • @adamz360 you can get the SL wallpaper in the system preferences

it is pre-included in Lion too

  • You can fix some of yo probs like dock dots and inverted scrolling in system preferences

  • Hate apple OS and the way it's moving forward, they are seriously going to loose customers. What on earth do I need an iPad interface on a computer for?? they are two different devices for different needs. Both iPad and iPhone have small screens so you need folders but this is not applicable to a 27" iMac. Seriously apple should think more wisely. there are more interesting features you can build in your operating system than changing the look of your scroll bar and changing an icon.

  • Do you think this will be released for the Power Macs?

  • @Hawkins0202 NO

  • @Hawkins0202 No because there hasn't been an Apple supported Power PC version of Mac OS since they released Leopard

  • I wish Apple would focus on organization and other things a little more than looks of the software. It would be helpful if they let you bring apps from the dock, to the Launchpad and vice versa, like you said. I was excited when I heard Apple is coming out with a new software, but now my hopes aren't as high as they were when I first heard this.

    Overall, good video.

  • Let me check this okay? I will be able to make lion COMPLETELY LIKE SNOW LEOPARD? This had better fudging be $29

  • I really don't see the point of Launchpad...let's say I want to open up the App Store...if I have it on my dock right next to the friggin Launchpad icon on the dock, why bother opening up Launchpad to click an icon that I can just click on the dock?

  • you can add the blue dots (indicators) for the system preferences > dock

  • XD Mac Users are happy because of the Fullscreen Button - kinda makes me laugh

  • You can go to "System Preferences" then dock settings. :D

  • Apple has taken OS X to a new level with lion. LION>WINDOWS 7!!!!!!!!!

  • snow leopard wallpaper is way nicer

  • you were not that good!!!!!!!!!! finder review, mission control properties, i cal were not at all explained .. no offence

  • will air drop work on windows?

  • you can change the settings so that the reverse scroll is disabled

  • You can add "The Dot" in settings.

  • @JoelB3783 yep the dots n opposite scrolling can be fixed thru settings lol...

  • if you like to download OS X Lion for testing it, than just go to:

    compupal.de/CompuPal/Download_Center.html

  • Really... there weren't a really big huge step up from Snow Leopard :(

  • @N1TSUG4 how does lion suck, when it has the same features as snow leopard...

  • go to dock setting to get the dock dots

  • How fast is Lion? Is it faster than Snow leopard?

Looks nice. Looking forward to this release. Just hoping it won't be slower than Snow leopard.

  • I guess the Non-Disclosure Agreement means nothing to him.

  • Full Screen Apps? Cmd + Shift + F does it for most apps on SL.... faster to do to than mousing up

  • Right Now I'm using Bevy and have a customized Dock Divided into productivity Groups. Fro what I am seeing here and in other write-ups on Lion thus far I cannot see a single thing that would temp me to update,,, no glitchy crashes either with the above. I don't have a touch screen... so no biggie. Unlike Snow Leo which added a lot.. nothing at all to tempt me with this.. Roll on another 2 years and the Next Big Cat please I'll stick with SL thanks

  • Eisai ellhnas?

  • hehehe i'm using now on an external Firewire HD

  • you can click a box in system pref... and then it scrolls the right way + you can go to dock settings and click a box and then theres dots.. lol

  • im gonna be honest. ive had my mac since 2007, and i just noticed now that you said that there are little dots under apps that are open

  • is sudo terminal still available?

  • you can actually turn on/off the indicator in the dock in sys prefs..

  • Screw the people that think iOS and Mac OS X should stay separate.

News flash for you. The original iPhone OS was their best thinking of Mac OS X. The iPad was their best thing of the iPhone OS. And Mac OS X Lion is bringing all that back to the Mac (hey, that's the name of their keynote) with Launchpad, App Store, and FaceTime. If you don't like it, go back to your Ubuntu.

  • NEED SNOW LEOPARD BACK

  • @darthcertde then install snow leopard ?

  • Meh, so what?

    Ubuntu thanks :-)

  • I was going to download this but this video shows it's really buggy :(

I think i might wait for the final version :)

  • You can change the dot under the icons in system preferences under dock. Also the reversed scrolling can be turned off and it will scroll like the older versions of Mac OSx

  • You can put the running application indicators back by going to dock preferences and check the bottom box.

  • This isent a huge update or anything...I like the new features but I just cant wait until Mac OS has similar windows to Windows 7/Vista with the glass look...if that ever happens.

  • They still have the dots under the apps you have to go to dock settings , it works on my late 2006 macbook, you probaby have figured it out by now tho

  • can you give me a link to your wallpaper becuase i really like it.
