Pro tip: Play real games, and play on a difficulty higher than Rookie. Also, four verticals is a cheap ass play. The deep pass is open because the corner covering your 90 overall WR is in bump man coverage....
@deredowl Wait a Minute. The 4 Verts is a Cheap play? Sounds like you have been burned by it many times. 4 Vert's is one of the best Long Distance Passing plays in Madden 11, do not down an excellent play just because you can not stop it.
As far as your 4-3 Free Fire play is concerned vs. the run... there is no such thing as being 100% sure your opponent is running the ball. EVER. ..... EVER .... if you think you can ever be 100% sure about anything your opponent is doing, you are setting yourself up for failure in some way. And that play is meh, anyway. If the opponent uses any kind of drag with the slot/flanker receiver you are getting burned for 20-30 yards w/ that play.

@interventionlova808 Unless you have a pretty good wide reciever there probably getting open because ur runnin zone defenses. When ever i get beat on that, il let him get a couple easy ones but then jump in to a 2 man under in the 4-3 set. So that my corner are playing air tight defense.
@interventionlova808 I use man to man press coverage against the recievers if i know thats coming for 2 reasons. 1st - if the corners get good physical contact on the receiver, can add 1 or 2 seconds extra to the play if he's committed to that route, leads to a better shot at a sack. 2nd - If that doesn't work, and i think im a 50-50 shot of getting a pick, ill flick onto the corner and make sure i either get contact on the ball or pick it off. Usually if u pick it off, its a pick 6.

play like football is meant to be played. dont sit in a spread formation all day. dont drop ur dline into zones. play like football is meant to be played.
If you play a player who users their fs and brings some pressure the deep post route on the 4 verticles play likely wont get open. It takes too long to develop or the user fs can pick it
The easiest way to read the defense is to come out in snugs and if the cbs are over your outside wrs its man and if the cbs slide in to cover the outside wrs its a zone. Then you can audible/ hot route to your man/zone beater.
@ballhogrod Man defense every defensive player has a man to guard. ie: 2 man under cover 1. A zone is when the defensive players play a zone/ area on the field. ie: cover 2, cover 3, cover 4.
Madden is talentless game.... Sure someone like the guy who made this could beat the average guy just because of knowledge of the game. But I have the same knowledge, and i have good record, 63-14. But when i play opponents that are as equal to me or even just a tad less equal, the winner has a slight edge due to the game play of madden. Dropped passes, ridiculous fumbles, over throw wide open receivers.
The game is tricked, i wish more ppl would realize this and quit buying the game so hopefully the EA team will make it more realistic... and breaking a tackle with 3 players trying to pull you down!? I mean seriously??? I'll stick to nfl 2k5, at least then i know if i win or lose, it was fair.
One problem with deep passes. The receivers, when you aren't controlling them (Think online [not head to head] and superstar mode) will stop where it's going and let a CB sit in front of them for a swat, or more often, an interception.

actually on "running the ball" u wanna follow your blocks too.. i find following the blocks in this game and slowing down andgetting behind a blocker , really pays off in at least 3 yards to a whole field to run threw . but yeh the blocks in this game have really improved and thats about the only good this about this game

You know what, with all the bull crap on youtube with madden this is actually refreshing! Very good ideas that can be utilized to insure good fundamental play. More videos on madden should follow the advice, and the format that this individual did with his video on thoughts he shared about madden. heres a real tip, when passing dont just look at one guy, cause if u force it its gonna get picked..if hes not open dont throw it, hit the check down or a second read n dont roll out every play cause it splits the field in half and a good player will jus jump the route...i hate when ppl do this...n that saints seams play wont work online against some1 that can user cover
this is what every trash madden player does online...these arn't tips there jus stupied ways to get cheap yards for ppl that can play n read defence's coverage
1. Man coverage is great against the run because your LB's will read the back stepping up and come up to meet him.
2. when calling a zone coverage in a nickel package and the offense has 3 WR's, if the slot is on the right side of the field, frip your play where your 3rd CB will cover him or if he is blitzing, give the impression he is covered.
3. when using nickel Cover 2 and having flipped the play if necessary, control the LB farthest away from the slot
3. (cont.) WR and cover the 1st receiver that comes across the middle of the field. once he goes off into the flats, go back to your zone in case there is a 2nd crosser that gets by the other LB.
4. Cover 2 works great against screens because your corners are already in position to make the tackle which allows you to rush or cover w/ the LB's
5. when in zone and using a LB, read the guards to tell if it is a run or pass play

@thompsonj24 Zone coverage in general is pretty bad against screens. The best "Safe" D against screens is going to be man coverage w/ your DEs in contains. Zone sucks because all of your other defenders will be dropping back and a TE/RB/WR or TWO will be there to disrupt the CB in the flats and most guys catching screens can make the first guy miss anyway. Man coverage matches up defenders vs. blockers and gives more of a chance to make a quick hit. Cover 2 sucks in general anyway except in 335.
the bad thing about man coverage is a LB is always manned up on him and if you don't have like a 90 overall guy to get him, the running back is pretty much gone with blockers. with almost all of the zone plays you have a guy in the flats that will at least slow him down where the other guys will catch up
cover 2 isn't that bad unless they throw a fade between your CB and safety. it's also pretty good when inside the 5 yard line because you have every area covered

@Flieguyty2 nah man there is a turbo button you just have to make sure that in the settings Auto Sprint is OFF, it's right next to Auto Strafe.

@interventionlova808 Unless you have a pretty good wide reciever there probably getting open because ur runnin zone defenses. When ever i get beat on that, il let him get a couple easy ones but then jump in to a 2 man under in the 4-3 set. So that my corner are playing air tight defense.

@interventionlova808 I use man to man press coverage against the recievers if i know thats coming for 2 reasons. 1st - if the corners get good physical contact on the receiver, can add 1 or 2 seconds extra to the play if he's committed to that route, leads to a better shot at a sack. 2nd - If that doesn't work, and i think im a 50-50 shot of getting a pick, ill flick onto the corner and make sure i either get contact on the ball or pick it off. Usually if u pick it off, its a pick 6.

and its gay when u drop a linemen into coverage.

If you play a player who users their fs and brings some pressure the deep post route on the 4 verticles play likely wont get open. It takes too long to develop or the user fs can pick it

The easiest way to read the defense is to come out in snugs and if the cbs are over your outside wrs its man and if the cbs slide in to cover the outside wrs its a zone. Then you can audible/ hot route to your man/zone beater.

@ballhogrod Man defense every defensive player has a man to guard. ie: 2 man under cover 1. A zone is when the defensive players play a zone/ area on the field. ie: cover 2, cover 3, cover 4.

Madden is talentless game.... Sure someone like the guy who made this could beat the average guy just because of knowledge of the game. But I have the same knowledge, and i have good record, 63-14. But when i play opponents that are as equal to me or even just a tad less equal, the winner has a slight edge due to the game play of madden. Dropped passes, ridiculous fumbles, over throw wide open receivers.

One problem with deep passes. The receivers, when you aren't controlling them (Think online [not head to head] and superstar mode) will stop where it's going and let a CB sit in front of them for a swat, or more often, an interception.

actually on "running the ball" u wanna follow your blocks too.. i find following the blocks in this game and slowing down andgetting behind a blocker , really pays off in at least 3 yards to a whole field to run threw . but yeh the blocks in this game have really improved and thats about the only good this about this game

heres a real tip, when passing dont just look at one guy, cause if u force it its gonna get picked..if hes not open dont throw it, hit the check down or a second read n dont roll out every play cause it splits the field in half and a good player will jus jump the route...i hate when ppl do this...n that saints seams play wont work online against some1 that can user cover

Here's some more tips for defense:
1. Man coverage is great against the run because your LB's will read the back stepping up and come up to meet him.
2. when calling a zone coverage in a nickel package and the offense has 3 WR's, if the slot is on the right side of the field, frip your play where your 3rd CB will cover him or if he is blitzing, give the impression he is covered.
3. when using nickel Cover 2 and having flipped the play if necessary, control the LB farthest away from the slot

3. (cont.) WR and cover the 1st receiver that comes across the middle of the field. once he goes off into the flats, go back to your zone in case there is a 2nd crosser that gets by the other LB.
4. Cover 2 works great against screens because your corners are already in position to make the tackle which allows you to rush or cover w/ the LB's
5. when in zone and using a LB, read the guards to tell if it is a run or pass play

@thompsonj24 Zone coverage in general is pretty bad against screens. The best "Safe" D against screens is going to be man coverage w/ your DEs in contains. Zone sucks because all of your other defenders will be dropping back and a TE/RB/WR or TWO will be there to disrupt the CB in the flats and most guys catching screens can make the first guy miss anyway. Man coverage matches up defenders vs. blockers and gives more of a chance to make a quick hit. Cover 2 sucks in general anyway except in 335.

the bad thing about man coverage is a LB is always manned up on him and if you don't have like a 90 overall guy to get him, the running back is pretty much gone with blockers. with almost all of the zone plays you have a guy in the flats that will at least slow him down where the other guys will catch up
