yes we are arabs we are the descendants of hassan coming from yemen originally, and we have some achraf descendant of the prophet MOHAMED(Pbuh) and we have descendant of sa7aba. at least most mauritanians know their origins, and we have some of the best savants in ISLAM and at least we know our ancestors and where we came from!! in addition the people who u call berbers are the ones who brought ISLAM to north and west africa so u really should learn more about MAURITANIA and then judge!!

berbers didn't bring ISLAM to north africa. berbers are a mixture of moors (tauregs/numidians) with arabs. they were originally called sarazins. IF berbers are arab, where did they originate from. every arab tribe knows where they originated from? so it should be an easy answer.
