Thanks. I cry for him today the way I did when he died, but his voice and those lyrics live forever. They are as relevant today as they were then. They speak as he sang - for all time! Truth is truth. That, we can all be sure he knew as well as any man ever knew it.
@coldocean I cry for him too. Radical as a youth, sold out to take care of my selfish dreams and my family. In my now later years I see the struggle has not ended. Oh god, at least we have his music. Power to the 99%.
@1diesel1 In general I agree. Listen to Green Day for the best I can find. Don't want to be an American Idiot. Holiday. Know your Enemy. Not like the old days, but not bad at all.
This song is bittersweet. I love the message, but it's a sharp contrast to his disillusionment and death, along with the marginalization and demonization of the far left movements he supported.
I get such a bizarre feeling of pride, courage and sadness when I hear it.
Musta seen him dozens of times (said the old hippie) He showed up for any demonstration -- unlike Mr. Dylan -- and we hung on every word. Sigh.

I wish Phil Ochs were here in 2012. He simply play a major roll of of the OWS movement.

"And when men would steal from others with a paper in their hand ..." Sounds like 2008 to me. Whoever said Ochs was dated?
