I am soo glad to live in canada.at least when they lock you up you can walk again after 17 yrs when they prove your innocence. in America your dead and no one cares anymore after they bury you if your innocent or not.They need to come into the 21 century and find a better way.Yes murders happen here too but at least we are civilized enough to put them in prison.Maybe its the eye for an eye mentality that keeps them in the 18 century..Canada stopped the death penalty,because of wrong convictions

Not only for the reasons you've outlined but also for the fact that the death penalty has proven to be a punishment that is abused in so many countries all over the world and across human history in so many different ways. Yeah, human history has proven that the execution of prisoners needs to be re-evaluated and abolished because it is the one form of abuse that can't be reversed or healed.

@DaynaBloomfield true that. I am all for justice being served, but there is no justice system on earth that isn't flawed. Innocent people are found guilty ever day. Having the death penalty will only add on to that because you will have innocent people pleading guilty for crimes just to avoid a possible sentence of death. I was for the death penalty at one point, but now I'm not. My reason though is because we aren't capable of applying it in a just fashion.There is too much corruption and injustice in how it is randomly given as a sentence. Also with the more recent study into lethal injection, I'm not sure anymore that it is as peaceful and painless as it is supposed to be. If we could ever get to the point where we only sentence to death those who actually deserve it maybe I would change my mind.

@jerricette Years ago, I read that Czar Alexander asked various prisoners in a Russian prison and freed a man who admitted guilt because he didn't want to force a guilty man amongst the "innocent ones."

Until DNA I was under the same assumption. Imagine the countless innocent people who had to be taken away from their families.

She was executed so the Prosecutors like Roe Wilson couldn't be wrong. They couldn't take any time to make sure the evidence was properly examined. And their narrative was inaccurate. They gave her a now disbarred failure of a defense lawyer named Ron Mock. who had16 of his 19 clients be put to death. He often slept in trial.

I know she couldn't have done this based on working on the case as a media assistant. There are too many wholes that to a jury would have presented "reasonable doubt".

That's why I am only for the death penalty when the evidence is so overwhelming that they are 100% certain of a persons guilt.That isn't always the case!The jury are just average people, many have prejudices and predetemined notions of a persons guilt.Plus whos the last Millionare white person put to death?

The more civil rights we lose as lower/middle class citizens the more this will happen.
