The only problem is it was an T-Mobile root and I am on bell (I live in Canada) now my phone does not work because my SIM card is bell but my phone thinks that its on T-Mobile. Please tell me how to undo this, I am frantic.

  • hi can i do this update on my mac or is only on windows ???? thanks for the info

  • @titan371 i dont have a mac so i dont know, but to be safe i would try on a pc only. but you can use kies that will give you the official 2.2 update, that is pc only.

  • Mini Kies is crap! Use Odin. Neither seems to work on Win7 64bit. though.

I had to do this on Vista 64. Also, try different USB ports if your PC doesn't

    recognize your device.

  • you guys no longer need to use odin for the update, samsung released the the 2.2 update but not OTA.... you need to download kies mini software. so far, the update is good =)

  • do u know how to get front face camera

  • odin is not pikking my phone up

  • @shaq1024 make sure odin is turn on first, hold both up and down volume bottons and while holding them plug your phone into the computer while odin is open.

  • whats up with cow in back

  • by unlocked firmware does he mean rooted?

  • Just want to ask, can you upgrade and do all this process on a stock Vibrant 2.1 not rooted/ unlocked? cani just straight up use odin and Euegene rom

  • @prynce3 your phone has to be rooted, as for being unlocked. That is not need. Only thing you need is a rooted phone.

  • @vann200 so i just rooted my phone. the Superuser permission icon came up does that mean its rooted? i'm sorry i'm new to it. if so then i can use euegene373 to upgrade fo 2.2 right ? and it will have the new adobe flash 10.1 etc ? and that will update the android market apps as well too for the apps the requir 2.2 to run. thank u so much and sorry for all the questions

  • @prynce3 yes if you have super user then that means you are rooted. yes you can use custom roms. yes it should have flash but read about the rom and see if it is include in the rom. yes you can run 2.2 apps.

  • @vann200 - need your help badly here.. I installed the ROM 2 months back.. then one fine day unrooted (using OCLF) the phone.. everything is working properly.. BUT.. I m not able to root it again, the phone does not enter android recovery .. its stuck on the vibrant bootup screen..i have tried OCLF, z4root, even the OCLF using Pc.. nothing works.. what could be worng..

  • @prashantcj i don't use OCLF for rooting only for lag fixing, but something may have happen. i us the ont click root which needs the Samsung drivers for it to work. but if that doesn't work then you may have to restore your phone and repartition it. this will wipe the phone of EVERYTHING so back up your files.

  • @prynce3 no your phone has to be rooted

  • I got a Vibrant a few weeks ago and I rooted it and installed the 2.2 update exactly like you said and then I unrooted my phone and it still works perfectly with Adroid 2.2! Thanks! :D

  • @PunkOfTheDesktop u mean u can put it back to unrooted status and it still works with 2.2? hmm, im a first time rooter so this is good info. even if i left it rooted there's nothing wrong with that right?

  • @corpuzone actually after I had unrooted it I had a lot of trouble with getting service. So I had to reroot it.

  • Hi there,

I just recently got samsung vibrant from tmobile. i shipped it to toronto canada and i unlocked it. your video shows how to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2. official update isn't released yet. if i follow the instructions that you gave, and upgrade it to 2.2, and if the official 2.2 is released, will i be able to upgrade to the OFFICIAL one? please let me know, i'm a first time android user so i'm going to depend on your opinion.

  • @DaywaIk3r i dont think that thats how it work,i have yet to have a phone with unoffi version and it upgrades to the offi, so my answer is no it will not upgrade.

  • it works. now i want my old stuff back :(

  • my phone doesnt pop up in odin after i get it in download mode.. help?!

  • how do i find out if phone is hardware lock?

    anybody pls help

  • what program do you use to open a .pit file my win7 laptop wont open it

  • Does it wipe all your data and settings? If so, how would you recommend backing them up so I don't loose them? (including bookmarks, passwords, apps, ect)

  • @someone4guitar It will wipe everything except your phone internal memory and your sd card, but I save that to my pc just in case. as for your apps us astro to back them up for an easy reinstall. And your contacts should e sync with Google, that why when you log back in to Google your contacts will sync as well. now with bookmark and etc, it will be gone, most people use "titanium back" app.

  • @vann200 thanks. are there any known bugs with this rom? Major things? also, would i be able to get the 2.2 ota when (if) it comes out without restoring to factory settings?

  • wat web site do u go to

  • thank you

  • yo once i finish put everything on odin and once i hold volum botton and plug in USB but that yellow android doesnt come up . mine come up with baterry... can u help me

  • @Hihihihihihfdfff Are you pressing both the up & down button? If not that is what you have to do inorder for this to work.

  • dont hold the power just the volume up and down

  • yo once i finish put everything on odin and once i hold volum botton and plug in USB but that yellow android doesnt come up . mine come up with baterry... can u help me

  • Thanks for the help everything seems to be working with unofficial 2.2 :-)

  • can you show a video to be able to install official 2.2 if possible and available

  • @darkcrisdavid Yes when it is available I will do it, but to be it may be the same way. This method is the same way you used when you wanted to install the update for the GPS fix t mobile pushed out over the air (OTA).

  • is there an oden3 for a mac??

  • @SrDigital89 From what I know of there is not a mac version, but if you know how to setup a VM (virtual machine) you can have windows run that way and you can use odin in the VM.

  • nevermind everything is working beautifully just had to reboot the phone, thanks for your help bro i appreciate it!!

  • @FalloutProductions1 No problem. let me know if the lagfix works, it doesn't not work for mine but I read that it works for others

  • @vann200 is there a lag fix for this.. I tried OCLF 2.0, does not work..the phone is slow after the update to 2.2 which by the way worked like a charm.. thanks :)

  • @prashantcj yeah i noticed the one click lag fix didnt work for me as well. but my phone is fast without it so i was fine with out.

  • @vann200 have you tried running a test in quadrant standard? I tried it on mine the max score is around 990, i m happy with the speed as such but i have come across instances wherein people have scores of 2000+ in the quadrant tests after running the lag fix.. i came across one manual lag fix procedure aswell.. do u recommend one?

  • @prashantcj Hi, I haven't updgraded to 2.2 yet, still looking arond to make sure it is good, but from what I am hearing from alot of youtube users is that voodoo works very well to fix the lag on the phone. As soon as I update to 2.2 I am installing that. So, I hope I helped

  • @baybeetricia have u installed voodoo yet??

  • i tried getting the driver link from the XDA site but it takes me to some driverboost crap that looks like some spam or something

  • okay i did everything you said and then when i plugged in the phone while turned off and holding volume up and down keys odin wouldnt have the yellow box showing and the phone would justs ay downloading files for 5 minutes and nothing happened

  • @FalloutProductions1 Make sure that odin is already open when you connect your phone. i had the problem as well. i connected the phone then open odin. let me know if it continues.

  • @vann200

yea i did it exactly how you did it....i had odin opened and ready to go then i held volume up and down keys and plugged in the usb, the screen on the phone looked exactly like your it said downloading but odin showed nothing, do i need some drivers maybe or something? also im rooted with the OCLF and am using the lagfix as well if that hels and my phone is not hardware locked

  • @vann200

still doesnt work my phone is rooted and has the lag fix applied too, and its not hardware locked, nothing shows up on odin, maybe i need drivers?

  • @FalloutProductions1 Okay the only thing I can think of is that you may have to install the Samsung drivers. Here is a link, make sure you pick the on link that matches your OS more than likely you may need the 32bit.

  • @vann200

    can i get that link?

  • @FalloutProductions1 check your inbox and the description box.

  • @vann200

okay i got everything working and i got froyo on my phone, but why do i not have a data connection?

  • hey u didnt put where to get odin from..

  • @desirethsthkness it is in the description box. scroll down and look for Odin3 v1.0

  • @MsBadAssXIII You do not have to be rooted I verified this.

  • @MsBadAssXIII I don't think you have to be rooted, this may work with a stock phone. the reason I say this is because. there are two versions, a stock and rooted one. So you could install a stock version if you don't want your phone to be rooted.
