  • GOOD - you're like a missionary ! in reverse. excellent! "Just as I Am" ,,,Ah, memories, memories,

  • @TheDarwinman

LOL. I'm glad *someone* got the use of "Just As I Am" in the reverse-missionary context.

  • ;-) Thanks a lot.

  • Siiiiiiiiiiiiii! :)

hahahaha This is great! I'm from Mexico but I really enjoy your videos and knowing that some of them have spanish subtitles just makes it... awesome!

  • Thanks. A couple have Spanish narration now, too. :-)

  • 你好

I don't know Spanish but I' am practicing Chinese Mandarin... and I'm Spanish myself that doesn't know Spanish. :-(

  • your pronunciation is correct through the video, Bush did a far more horrible job than you.

  • Well, that's a relief. ;-)

  • Ok...i ll translate the episodes into Greek .How about that ? ;-)

  • Sounds great. :-)

  • Woo hoo! Big fan, now I can show your awesome videos to my parents!

  • Excellent! Thanks a lot. Let me know what they think. :-)

  • Wonder who will be next to translate these invaluable videos into another tongue?

The 'end times' won't happen until the gospel has been preached to all!

  • ROFL!

  • Annunciation of especially vowel sounds, en Espanol, is everything. I went for years speaking with to much anglo accent, and got my share of giggles....When I "got it", and really focused on the annunciation, bam , I went from John, to Juan.

  • Well, I definitely need to work on it. This is going to be one of my goals for 2010.

    Thanks, Trixie.

  • Congrats on going Spanish and reaching more people! Your videos intelligent, well thought out; with a charming dash of humour!

LOL '... lie down and let the feeling pass.'

    Espagnol? Parlez-vous français?

  • "LOL '... lie down and let the feeling pass.'"

    ;-)

Thanks a lot, Longhairred. Alas, I do not speak French. My Spanish is functional, if barely so.

  • that really cool that Cuythulu has put annotations in spanish on your vids, good on him!!!

  • Indeed.

  • What makes you think I´m a Him?

  • I think I said him because ProfMTH said it in this video, if I'm wrong I apologize

  • I thought you were a him, too. Are you a her? If so, my apologies.

  • Que buena idea.

  • Yep.

  • im fluent in spanish. today at work a group of mexican came in to order some food and i took their order in spanish. My boss was standing right next to me as i did it. when i turned around and started filling the order she comes up to me and says " i didn't know you spoke spanish" and my reply to her was "well i put it on my application" makes me wonder if she really read it at all hahaha

  • lol

All the time people put in to perfect their resumes or write up good employment applications, only to have them barely looked at.

  • ¡Me gusta!

I've been studying Spanish lately and as I watched the videos, they're like mini lessons :)

  • See, Onotheo, I'm running a full-service operation here. We learn about religion, we get a little comedy (usually more little than comedy), Spanish tutorials. In 2010, you'll be able to get your dry cleaning done while you watch the videos here.

    ;-)

    Thanks.

  • Shall I annotate your videos in pig latin? lol

  • Ph4cyd3r, you read my mind, my man. I'll be forwarding the scripts to you this week. ;-)

  • Congrats,...very nice compliment for your hard work.

  • Thanks!

  • Great idea.

  • Yeah, I'm really pleased he suggested it.

  • Sweet!

  • ;-)

  • nice bro, that will help a lot of people.

  • OR get me a bunch of whacky comments in Spanish. ;-)

  • Muy bien!

  • Gracias.

  • You must feel so honored. Now the world can receive your brilliance in TWO languages!

  • lol Thanks.

  • yeah prof that is a big step; believe me. any help you need translating anything just tell me and i'll see how i can help. i am very fluent in Spanish (first language) and can translate English to Spanish without thinking about it and vice verse. although i have an accent in English. you can check my videos if you want and also i would be delighted if you would give your opinion on a video i made to veritas on purpose. thanks and seriously any help you need just tell me,and i will do what i can.

  • Hey, Vision. Thanks. First, I just had a quick look at a few minutes of your video. Accent? Not much of one. Just a word of advice: don't hold that mic so close to your mouth. The plosives from the "P" and "B" sounds diminish the quality. Leave the mic on the table in front of you or hold it to the side or something. That will make it better. I'll go back to give a substantive opinion later. Second, thanks for your offer of help. I will keep it in mind and I appreciate it a lot. :-)

  • Good idea, fyi the demand for youtube videos in other languages is high at the moment, as most of the good content is in English.

  • Well, I hope I can do at least a little bit to help fulfill that demand.

    Thanks COA.

  • I think I'll do Esperanto first.

  • nice, crossing the language barrier.

i wonder how many latino athiests are out there.

  • However many there are, perhaps ... just *perhaps* ... there will be more in the not-too-distant future. ;-)

  • kewl :)

  • it's nice someone decided to make that effort. i had spanish for a year in high school but was never very good at it. a few simple phrases and numbers was all i could manage...

  • I'm no expert on language pedagogy, but I've heard experts opine that the way languages are taught in school is probably as ineffective as it can be. In my case, I did 4 years of Spanish in high school and 2 semesters of Latin in college. But I find that I make much more progress when I use, e.g., the Rosetta Stone program. I have an acquaintance who studied Russian in school, but never really learned it. He took a Berlitz course and became fluent; he was even able to live in Russia.

  • How nice of that guy.

  • Yeah, it's a great idea. Reaches a whole new audience.

  • This is fantastic! Gracias, Cuy!

And Prof, ole budd...La Pointer-girl-mun-cha-chaa es Perfecto-mundo. Muchas gracias.

  • De nada. I'm glad you enjoyed her, Tobias. ;-)

  • Maybe this doesn't apply to everyone, but this video is so large that the information usually found on the right of it, is now below it on the right hand side.

If it stays this way, you're going to need to get some pictures of people pointing downwards...

  • When you watch in high quality, the video enlarges.

  • "The white devil" shirt cracks me up.

  • ;-)

Hey, TheEdge. How you doin'? Hope summer is treating you well.

  • Doing good Prof...thanks. Hoping the same for you. Summer was very active now that my twins are old enough to play soccer and involve themselves in extra curricular activities. Now on to PreK..

  • Excellent! Glad to hear it.

  • "The white devil" lol

  • ;-)

  • ¿Cómo se dice, "La Biblia está llena de mierda y el mito?" en español? Gracias!

  • De nada.

  • By the way, Rational, how do you get the accent marks and upside down questions marks and all that on here? Do you have to switch the language setting?

  • The magic of Google Translate... : )

  • Ah! Shmart guy.

    Thanks.

  • I'll have to run this by Cuythulu. Thanks ... or gracias. ;-)

  • Yes you do have to watch out when translating literally plus slang words in one spanish speaking country are considered offensive in in another.

  • Indeed. It's like when the American play "Spunk" opened in the UK. Whole different meaning.

  • "Papi ques eso en tu borsillo"

hahahaha Prof you are the greatest!

  • ;-)

  • On'tday orgetfay Igpay Atinlay!

  • You should have your videos re-edited in ALL languages Prof! I volunteer to help you out with Italian :) :) ....though probably your partner could do the job just fine......well...that's all I speak other than English......I understand Spanish (thanks to the wife....though I don't speak it quite as well) and I'm trying to learn Japanese (big anime fan....don't judge me..) but I'm light years away from anything useful.

  • Thanks a million, Buzz. I'll keep this in mind. By the way, Japanese, eh? That's gotta be tough to learn.

  • Anytime Prof.

Yeah...Japanese..... it's not like I'm really trying hard...but I picked up a few words here and there so far...One day when I have time **insert sarcastic laughter here** I'll get down to business and get serious about it.

  • lol I know what you mean.

  • Very cool!

This reminds me of a funny story.

When I was stationed in Texas one of my buddies had a little kid who always wanted to say "See ya" and "mañana " when guest would leave. What came out was, "Semen on ya!"

  • LOL!

  • ¡felicidades!

Does that mean more Erik Estrada and Salma Hayek pointing to the comment box?

  • Ah, Erik Estrada. Such a major ... *influence* in my youth. ;-)

  • hey! prof! nice news. a real tribute to your greatness!!

i know enough spanish to offend a lot of people. muy mucho hablo gusto! ahem. well, you know, the winning smile goes a long way.

  • LOL.

  • Holy sh** Prof.....

Thanks so much for the shutout!!!!

Of course I will collaborate....I would be honored..... and my campana is very rung :)

Write me an email and let me know how we can get this going.

    Thanks again.

  • My pleasure.

I'll be in touch, Joseph. Thanks a lot. :-)

  • Io preferisco l'italiano, ma spagnolo è buono.

(My Italian sucks, hopefully that was correct.)

  • My Italian sucks, too, so I can't tell you for sure. I'll have to show it to my partner. lol

  • Professor, not meant to be a bitch but in Brazil we speak an obscure version of Spanish called Portuguese ;P

  • Hehe I noticed that too :P

  • James, you don't really believe I don't know that, do you? I could have carved Brazil out of the picture of South America, but that would have looked odd.

  • Just kidding, Prof. We are all bunch of hermanos down here anyway ;)

  • Since I put this video up, I've gotten about five PMs (and several comments) from people "informing" me that they don't speak Spanish in Brazil, so my fuse shortened a bit. ;-) Thanks.

  • I love the "diablo blanco" shirt

please tell me that's an actual shirt and not just photoshopped on....

  • The shirt is real. The words were Photoshopped on. ;-)

  • I think I can one up your unfortunate Spanish circumstances. My father is puro Mexicano, but he didn't teach us Spanish as children. At least not in any formal sense. What I picked up working for him during the summers (mostly slang), the 4 years in high school, and 1 year in college left me with about a 7th grade reading & writing level.

That being said, I rarely have an opportunity to use it and when those circumstances arise, I usually wilt like a flower in the desert.

    Que vas hacer?

  • It's all about using the language regularly, isn't it -- in addition to studying it sufficiently? I just don't make the effort.

  • I never knew Spain was so big....

  • South America's just a lot smaller than you thought.

  • "I never knew Spain was so big."

All of a sudden I have a bunch of cartographers in my audience. ;-)

  • nice spanish you have there ;D

  • When one considers that I took four years of it in high school *and* that here and there I've tried to brush up on it, it's really kind of sad. But I'm going to work on it. Really, I am. ;-)

  • hey I am one of those who speak both languages with some minor glitches, pronunciation of some words, and Iam highly unreligious,if I can help at all ..

  • I think subtitles are about always preferable to an overdub.

  • Living in Albuquerque NM, and working the kind of job that I do, speaking some Spanish is very useful. I want to offer help, but my Spanish is really obviously of the "El Gringo mata la lengua" type. It's really only worth conducting business with my Spanish when they really don't speak any English. However, there are many genuinely bilingual Spanish native speakers here. Like 30+% of the population. Unfortunately, they tend to be very religious, and I don't personally know any who are atheists.

  • hola, me lamo tarahu, short for tarahumara,(the name had already been taken), exelente trabajo, el tuyo y el de cuythulu, pronuntiation is fine BUT, is grasias not grazzias, kind of like my b, v, j g and y, no offense intended

  • Very cool. Go for it Prof. As it happens I'm also working in Spanish. I'm working with a friend and colleague of mine to produce a 5 minute animation in Spanish for Spanish film festivals. I know zero Spanish. It's an interesting experience animating a character to a line of dialog when you really don't know what he's saying. Fortunately my colleague is from Spain.

  • Sounds like an interesting project, Danmill.

Always a pleasure to hear from you, good sir. :-)

  • "El Diablo Blanco" :DD

  • ;-)

  • At the end there it sounds like you're saying< "Thank you for watching my bidet." hahaha

  • That's a lot funnier and less embarrassing than what actually happened, i.e., I fucked up the Spanish pronunciation of 'video'. (Could the word *be* any simpler?!) So, Fractal, I'm adopting what you heard as the official transcript. The video ends: "Thank you for watching my bidet. Goodbye." ;-)

  • I have no idea how to pronounce "video" in Spanish, but i have adopted "Thank you for watching my bidet" as my preferred exit line. Oh...and "interrobang"? i"ll give it a try if i can answer later...as for "inverted interrobang", well...why not.

  • "but i have adopted 'Thank you for watching my bidet' as my preferred exit line."

    LOL!!

  • Muy bien, mi amoeba...

  • Ouuu! I'll have to bust out my "My Spanish Coach" on Nintendo ds and check out "El Blanco Diablo" in Spanish!

  • It means "white devil"

  • Urr. I meant "I'll have to bust out 'My Spanish Coach' so I can watch ProthMyth (aka El Blanco Diablo) in Spanish!

    Muy Bueno!

  • El Diablo Blanco. Adjective *after* the noun in Spanish, Tiwaking. Ask the coach. ;-)

  • cool

  • portugal e brazil nao e esanhol

  • Yes, I know. But it would have looked odd if I'd just sliced them out of the pictures. I'm sure everyone -- or most people, at least -- are aware of the fact that Spanish is not spoken in either place. Thanks.

  • I didnt know you were looking for a translator, I would have help! if he needs help tell me!!

  • Excellent! Thanks very much. I definitely will let you know. :-)

  • "El Diablo Blanco"

lol like the tee. I might have to get one of those made for myself.

  • ;-)

  • Très bien! Vive la France! :-D

  • "Tres bien! Vive la France!"

    LOL!!

  • That IS a great idea. Now I am wondering what you will do about the comments...I know you've already thought of this. And of course, MOST video posters don't answer to commentators, so allowing people to simply post wouldn't be wrong.

Just an observation: I notice that you are up pretty late on a regular basis. I'm up too, but not in a good way...(I can't stay asleep)

  • My sleep schedule is off because of the summer, but I'm trying to get back to non-vampire hours since school is starting soon and there's a *ton* of stuff going on at work.

I won't be answering comments in Spanish. I'm just not good enough with the language. In any case, the videos are being posted on Cuythulu's page.

  • ¿What is your opinion about this trend of using inverted punctuation like in Spanish in English? It seems to me to be a great innovation. ¡I love it!

  • It's the first I've heard of it. Since when has it been a trend?

  • I do not know. One could try searching "¡", "¿", and "⸘" but one gets hits in Castellano instead of English using inverted punctuation.

By the way, the last character is an inverted interrobang which probably does not show for you.

⸘Are not interrobangs and inverted interrobangs great‽

  • Your last one showed up. I *love* the name. It's one of those words that has a great sound to it. In practice, however, I'm perfectly happy with the two punctuation marks this one is intended to combine.

  • According to WikiPedia, American Martin K. Speckter invented the interrobang in 1962.

  • haha i suppose the white devil was among the kinder latin names for you ProfMTH, with all the bible bebunking you do

  • It's usually the so-called "True Jews" (who are black) who call me "white devil." And odd people on the subway. lol

  • The white devil?

  • Yes. I can't tell you how many times I've been called that ... sometimes just while I was walking down the street minding my own business. I guess I'm just *that* white. ;-)

  • LOL... *I* need an "El Diablo Blanco" tee shirt!

  • ;-)

  • Ah, pero que requetebien.

  • me gusta tus videos, pienso que estas moi intelijente. Hablo espanol que aprendido en Espanya si necesitas ayudar

  • Muy bien. Y gracias.

    I'm impressed.

  • white devil too gringo

  • Mas ProfMTH en Espanol - as long as we get la senorita pointing to the information box!

  • LOL!

  • ¡Bueno cielos! =:-O

  • I wonder how many people got the "Hey papi, what's that in your pants?" joke

  • Well, clearly you did. And now you've provided a translation for the others. :-)

  • los cybers buenos

  • I was so horrible in Spanish class that I had to switch to German. But it is good news that your videos are going to be spread through multiple languages

  • Did you find German easier?

  • FYI, Brazil *which is a huge part of a particular continent you put there, is a Portuguese speaking country.

I'm just being irritating. Anyhow, awesome video "The White Devil".

  • "I'm just being irritating."

At least you admit it. ;-)

    Thanks, Comptech.
