I have many doctors inside my family and surroundings. I think hospitals are not as terrible as they are in common imagination. I’d like to suggest to myself and other people not to blame doctors in all our troubles with the bodies and take the responsibility of our health. We can do many useful things to avoid being in hospitals during the major portion of the lives.
@TheBestSea Kate, I think this is so true! In Canada, because everyone thinks the health care is "free," [our taxes pay for it!] people go to the doctor or the hospital for the silliest reasons! People need to educate themselves and take better care of their bodies. Thanks for watching!.
@adrianogazzo I'm not quite sure why we change the spelling in English! It's strange. You write 'Brasil' in Portuguese, and in English I write 'Brazil'!
@TeacherMelanie That wasavery good question for portuguese non-native of...
Get ready for the true reason: Phonetics... yeah! In Portuguese grammar there's a rule which says: The Consonant letter "S" between two vowels is able to represent an / z / sound.
Our Country's Name comes from a Tree called "Pau-Brasil"(something like Ember-wood in english, or 'bâton lumineux' in french) that we used to have a lot of by the year of 1500 DC. 300 years after, They gave the.... To Be continued
@adrianogazzo Thank you for such a detailed & informative answer! That's interesting that at some point in history someone decided to change the spelling of the name! We have the same pronunciation rule in English, but with many exceptions! A lot of my Brazilian students struggle with the /s/ sound - especially at the beginning of a word. All the best with your English studies = )
@Fernandokant1 You can say "I hope your aunt FEELS better soon" or "I hope your aunt GETS better soon." / Thank you for watching & for your kind words!
@hitechenglish One day! I'm so untelegenic : ( I need more practice before I put up a video of myself! Glad you recovered from the bike accident ... I've never had any near-death accidents but I can imagine it was a very scary time! Thanks for watching & commenting : )
Hello Melanie.I hope you aunt will bounce back to good health soon.I have never been a patient in a hospital before ,but I can tell you about the hospitals in my country. They are free as well as the medicines.I hope we won't have to experience that and we will have a good life full of love and joy.Regarding to the lesson today.I would like to thank you and keep up with the good work
@Tariq1409 Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment! The health care in Canada is "free," but we pay a lot of money in taxes for it, and the quality is not very good. Interesting that the medicine for you is free too - we have to pay!
excellent lesson Melanie

@TeacherMelanie (*...) They gave the following Portuguese name: "Estados Unidos do Brazil" (just like th english meaning United States of Brazil)
But after some time, another leaders had changed to "República federativa do Brasil" with S, and we have this name until now.
For the whole Brazilian People, Brasil is writen WITH S, but we also are accostumed to deal with the international commonly used manner.
Thanks for asking!! Regards.
