it looks like he can pop his head out towards the north south position, i know im only been doing jujitsu for 18 months, but cant he pop out and spin towards u and take you down? im asking because side control is my favorite position.
@ScareGilly - a darce actually is a "reverse anaconda"...this is just another way to set it up. Charlie rolls all the way through to his side, but he can also finish it from north/south with his hips down (the north/south choke as many people know it, is just an upside down darce choke if you consider the hand placement and body mechanics.
Nice set up , but that's more of a reverse anaconda choke !!!! The d'arce puts the knife of the forearm against the neck but the anaconda puts the bicep against the neck ! Still very nice !!!!!
Funny thing about this choke, you're just as likely to get the tap from cranking the shoulder as you are from the choke itself. It's all kinds of uncomfortable in there.
This is pretty typical of expert village. so far they're batting a 1,000 on having people explain shit allllll wrong. this isn't a D'arce choke , it looks like some upside down anaconda choke, which looks like it would work, but i really think these video's are all about this guy thinking it is reallly reallly cool to make a video where he can say "dee are cee" as many times as he can while in the clip.

that looks cool, but its different when your actually down their wrestling, you obviously dont have the same control the chance of you getting away with that move is slim
Totally. I'd rather just wait for the Kimura, arm bar, or top mount than risk losing my position on this sort of move. Still, it's probably good on the street where people don't know what their doin' on the ground.
Does anyone know some simple moves that are effective? i know the arm bar ( kinda complicated ) but i made my friend tap out twice from it, I know the thing were you grab his arm and you throw him on the floor with ur back kinda cool and easy . Any moves like that?
arm triangles aren't that hard, it just takes a little time to plan it out. arm bars are by far my favorite though, simple and effective. baseball bat chokes from mount are VERY easy so look those up
This guy isn't fat at all. He's thick. Look at BJ Penn. He doesn't have a ripped body like Georges St Pierre, but he could kill any of you in seconds flat.
jaggafeen: "so fat he has to roll on his side lol"
The beuty of martial arts is that u doesnt have to be the perfect athlete to pull it off...and i can assure u that a beer bellied martial artist is far more deadly than a 6-pack dude without fighting experience...
I don't know why more guys don't go for this in the ufc, it's wide open when most guys get side control and almost nobody ever goes for it. I saw rich crunkilton use it against mike joy and that was the only time anybody to my knowledge has ever gone for it. Very effective but extremely underutilized technique. I submitted somebody with it once in a fight and I always look for it.
I don't doubt it could be used and it's great to add anything to your arsenal, but, during that spot where you grab your leg, at that point you are VERY vulnerable to being rolled over and missing the hold. On top of it if you trap someones arm like that you can just beat their face with some elbows and that's more fun
pressing 9 is better than 3

@mbessette22 No, with a D'arce you don't choke using your bicep, you use the blade of your forearm, that's why this is an anaconda, not a D'arce.

@ScareGilly look how it is being finished...its a darce, slick

Joe D'Arce actually pronounces his name Dee-R-cee, so he's saying it correctly.
In terms of the name having French origins though, he's wrong, and it should be pronounced darce.

yeah except baseball bat choke involves grabbing their lapels which you cant do in mma

Look up the Toe hold which was used in Pancration, Heel Hook, Triangle choke, Kimura from side control.
Gaffhart77 2 years ago
arm triangles, rear naked choke, americana,
most submissions are simple and effective. its all in the set-up of the submissions. good set up can make the submission really easy to pull off
