Hey, mjcomptn...This proves Obama LIED about his involvement with ACORN. ACORN has been busted for mass voter registration fraud across the entire country. This is NOT some little innocent "neighborhood association" as you call it. Earl: If speaking before ACORN is "involvement," then John McCain is involved with ACORN, since he also gave a speech at an ACORN event. Obama once partnered with the Justice Department in representing ACORN, so the Justice Department is also "involved." And Obama did conduct classes that ACORN people attended. That's it. As for "mass voter registration fraud," ACORN is required by law to submit all filled out forms, even if it's Mickey Mouse. That doesn't mean Mickey gets to vote.

Obama worked for ACORN for years starting in law school. ACORN recruiters formed the nucleus of Obama's first vote recruiters. McCain on the other hand, gave a speech at an ACORN function.

Obama is materially connected to ACORN; McCain is not.

Sorry if I'm an "ass-wad," but I was not comparing McCain's involvement with ACORN to Obama's; I was pointing out that ACORN is not any more a crazy fringe organization than, say, the NRA. As for the case in WA, here's a quote from the Seattle Times: "Paid employees and supervisors of ACORN...concocted the scheme as an easy way to get paid, not as an attempt to influence the outcome of elections, King County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Satterberg said." ACORN is a Republican smokescreen.

Agreed. That's the whole purpose of the massive voter-suppression scheme of the Republicans. If you can't stop every voter, at least you know every minute you can gum up the works adds up. 1.9 million votes erased in 2000. Hundreds of thousands in Ohio alone in 2004. I don't dismiss ACORN's ineptitude or misdeeds, if that's what they are. But what is that next to the force of state and federal government working to prevent citizens from voting?

ummm, I believe they all do it. Obama is known for when he ran for his first state senate seat he sued to have thousands of votes uncounted due to even the most minor of clerical errors. He is an expert on "disenfranshisement" cause he led the way.
