@3007jae that is a funny t shirt. and considering that when Coca Cola first came out - it actually did have cocaine in it - so - there is some truth to that shirt.
I'm not even joking. This song, is something of an epiphany to me. I've heard this before, years and years ago. But I'm stumbling on it now by accident. So I'm getting some crazy nostalgic feeling now. And I think I'm actually in love. This is fucking brilliant.

British punk ("The Great Rock and Roll Swindle") may have been contrived in the way you suggest but making vast sums of loot was never a realistic prospect for the Circle Jerks or the NY Dolls.
The British didn't have the first clue about punk rock until they saw the Dolls and the Ramones. The 'seeds of punk rock' as you say were sown by AMERICAN bands.
@bruntrumble Link Wray and the Sonics ???? well you may as well say The Beatles and The Stones. Didn't Link Wray invent heavy Metal as well? NY Dolls were seen as an extension of glam but more sleazy/trashy. I'll give you The stooges. Please remember I am commenting on a T.Rex channel to T.Rex people, I'm bigging up Bolan to other fans. I did not say he invented punk Rock and would'nt. Punk Rock circa 1976/77 was very Brittish and they took their influences from Brittish bands a lot of the time

@mymusic777ify Hi, I actually found the answer here
wikipedia . org / wiki / Metal_Guru
It's about his personal vision of a god (creator of the
universe), Marc didn't believe in any specific "normal"
religion, more in a "cosmic" god. "Has it been like a
silver-studded sabre-tooth dream?" from the lyric probably
means that he asks this god "has life on earth and maybe
on other planets in cosmos developed like you thought/
dreamed ?"
