I have always loved this song , IT IS AMAZING!! But when I hear it, it reminds of the film 'The Labyrinth' -the one with David Bowie, and also it reminds of something that would be in a porno or sex scene, but from the 80's or so... Anyone else think that or am I just weird??? ^_^ Once again amazing song. Have always loved them.
a man in black on a snow white horse, a pointless life has run it's course, the red rimmed eyes the tears still run, as he fades into the setting sun...

@pigsontherun So true, I quite like A Momentary Lapse of Reason, it reminds me of Meddle and Wish You Were Here. A very dark album though. Signs of Life is a great opening, not to mension the powerfull messages of On The Turning Away. Classic rock songs like Learning to Fly and One Slip, and the dark songs like this one and Sorrow make this album better than others think. In my opinion Final Cut was the worst Pink Floyd album.
@baalho - And some people say that lyrics on the post-waters album are bad??? This song has some very powerfull lyrics. As does Learning to Fly, On the Turning Away, Sorrow, Poles Apart, A Great Day For Freedom, Take It Back, Coming Back To Life, Lost For Words and High Hopes.
ok, I'm a PF fan and actually saw them on this particular tour when I was in high school - but watching this video, I can't help but laugh seeing some of the performers dressed in late-80's style clothing. So glad that at least Gilmour didn't cheese out. : D
Yeah sorta how i didn't like this song at first but i listened to it more and now its one of my favorites. Also i get to go to the Wall live in Columbus, Ohio!
A very good song indeed. Too bad "Learning to Fly" was a single. But they set everything right with "High Hopes". That was magic. The song went on forever, but everyone was playing the entire video. Too bad years got to them, they still could have given a few lessons to the younger generations. But they already did do a lot.
I agree with gilisfloyd. i recently picked this album up, and although i considered myself a floyd fan, was still amazed at some of the masterpieces i had yet to discover
one of his many masterpieces that unfortunately many people don't know....a momentary lapse was an incredible album in it's entirety, i urge anybody who hasn't heard it to go buy it and listen to it, it's a splendid piece of work, and proves their is a floyd without waters....
...my PA System, one of the very latest from Bose, is one of the best, by far, of all Time! My analogue 62-band Eq further enhances and clarifies the digital Equalisers of my PA System, kurzweil multieffects, roland Sampling System, and yamaha Sampling Keyboard Workstation and yamaha Arranger Workstation. Hey, RW!
...we can and will do better with a sony high definition live webcam/video camera/digital camera than the sony live webcam we own giving us high quality, very saturated, deep colours, yet with very clear images and background in buzz fuzzy definition, to effect, but not too much so, like early-to-mid Music Videos. I prefer the imagery of effect as the full effect of high definition clear image as imagery: as if in blurry imagery, as if Image from The Mist, with portable High Definition cameras!
...all of my Music workstation equipment, every Model, is the best of its kind, the best of its class! Technology is so much more advanced than "yet another movie" live: those light-up drumsticks with a power cord? Take a look online at PowerStix! No cord! My percussion sampler system won Best in Show at NAMM, and my pro yamaha original sampling keyboard workstation of the present models is the best of all Time. My multieffects, from kurzweil, 100% "noiseless": no hiss, no hum, no distortion.
...then, after her wake, Vera was cremated! I heard a jealous woman dumped her ashes in the public park and was committed immediately thereafter for the offense! Love the glitches of PCs, especially of all of the ISPs, Internet Service Providers, especially from the biggest internet connection companies and software manufacturers! RW!: you now realise from my recent writings how aware I am... if you could see me perform, produce my Music with my workstation equipment, you would be surprised!
Vera was quite the extremely attractive blonde! "...she's had enough...": the dying Vera!, when she was dying from her exhaustion, and from exposure! "Amused" to Death?! No, she kept herself going strong as a Nurse right up until the end. Everyone remembered her with cheerful respect during her wake. Hey, RW!
...she beamed a smile, and glowed, about being an RN and giving her life to nursing patients, medicating herself liberally as most RNs do, performing X-rays without the leaded vest. I knew her virtually all of my life. Her State licensure change back to LPN and cremation may be a cover up, if not acts of spite. The Doctors at the hospital found her desirable, yet she became a one-man woman... yes, Vera! She was quite the exrtremely attractive blonde... not surprisingly, RN material! Hey, RW!
...she looked like a little old lady during her wake! I was nearly traumatised! ...then, she was cremheard after a jealous woman dumped Vera's ashes in the public park, and the jealous woman was committed immediately after the offense! Someone revoked or suspended, or fraudulently changed her State RN licensure online back to LPN. She became an RN, worked two double ten-hour shifts a week at the hospital, and performed private nursing duties for two elderly men.
...of the Energy of subatomic- and Atomic Particles electromagnetic Soundwaves/Lightwaves during conversion to- and from each the other, to The Rhythm of The Ancients: Meters of Heavenly Bodies and Metres of Life Forms, in simple, compound, and complex as superimposed/artificial! '87, the logical conclusion, as it were: the dying Vera! She was exquisite, aside from her obnoxious Attack Mode. She became an RN, as called for, and died from exhaustion, the Florence Nightingale effect, as predicted.
Steve Forman, bringing Present and Future of his Biorhythmic Pulse to the Invisible, Natural Forces, the Natural Elements as Circadian rhythms, the electromagnetic Sounds of Energy Forces, the high-pitched hisses of white "noise" and pink "noise", and Static electric charge of Metaphysical Form of Physical Sound, of Energy during conversion to Matter, during low-level cold fusion nuclear natural reactions: the delicate Sounds of Thunder, and Audible Static Electric Charge of Lightning!
...the drummer and bandmates brought Primal-Futuristic classic-/Classical and contemporary Music elements together through Theatre Rock accented by Ambiances/musical Sound Effects of Drama Motion Picture Soundtrack Music, bringing Rock Theatre full circle, to full effect, to the logical conclusion, to the culmination! PF would have reflected their own Lights and Sounds from all of the Planets of the Galaxy to their World Stage on Earth for Audible Music of The Spheres ...under the Stars!
As you see, PF were and remain far ahead of their Time... if they were 15+ years younger, they would have light shows from Satellites within the atmosphere! ...and interplanetary Light and Sound to the surface of the Earth, their Stage THE World Stage! During their first few years together, PF had Stadium stagelighting like The Great Pyramids!
tonygogap: lol that has to be the most ridiculous comment I've ever heard about this song. This doesn't even sound relatively CLOSE to Type O Negative. You need to have your ears cleaned. roflmao
no dude the studio album. listen to the guitar solo there. it sounds like it comes right out of hell itself. its so fucking evil/mean/angry.. seriously.
Dude! I know your comment was ages ago - But you're so right about the guitar solo sounding like it's come straight outta' hell! I don't think I've ever seen David play the guitar quite like this!
I really love momentary, just don't like all the visual effects like these pseudo-star-wars lightsabers and all the lightning i think it takes the focus out of the songs but hey... thats just me.
music has always been a big influence on me and my life. yet another movie is my cinema, played out day to day. Antagonists, protangonist, a plot, and so on. How did it ever, come to this, he sings. I feel. I live it. Yet another movie as all our lives playing out til the end. FIN.
This is definetly a concert worthy to put on dvd. I wonder why this song isn't on the Delicate Sound Of Thunder (DSOT) video, but is on the DSOT cd (both of which I have).
My favorite song (along with Sorrow) on Momentary Lapse of Reason. The drums sound awesome. 1980s music seem to have a unique sound when it came to drums. Excellent video SemNick90!!!
