That robot that was black and white that captures Mr.Freeze is actually a homage to Japanese animation Studio Ghibli, search for "robot laputa" on google, its the exact same
When Bat-mite is thrown into the chest, you can see the toys of: a superman villain (can't spell it for shit), Krypto, and I think the cat is suppose to be catwomans.
And who does the bitch from Robocop pick? A psychotic drug lord who hates law and order and is in general a horrible despicable human being, completely opposite of Murphy who she just stated only survived because of his morals and sense of duty.
They're just handing out PHDs in that future aren't they?
@FNGLHR Well technically she did prove her point that part of the rejection from the Robocop 2 prototypes was based on subjects not being able to handle losing their human bodies. She was also correct in that it would work on someone who would actually want to have that much power, so the real question is what's sadder?: The fact the drug lord proved her right and was able to reject being controlled, or the fact the only subject she could get that fit the bill was a drug lord?
the first one is clearly not a reference at all. they only have one line in common and there is nothing unique about that line. This makes about as much sense as saying that a show that shows a McDonalds is referencing some other show with a McDonalds.
TAS is awesome in so many ways...it truly treats the animation medium as an artform...not just in terms of the animation itself with the artdeco, but with the voice actors and background music. Truly the greatest animated series ever.
There's also a scene where Harley's being taken back to Arkham, and she says the same thing those robots in the first scene said. :3 Also, yeah, the robot looks like a Laputa guardian from Castle in the Sky. >XD
@robblindsay There is an old episode of Batman TAS that's just like biosock. I tried sending a link of this comment but didn't work. So go to Google and type kotaku batman bioshock and click the first link.
The actor who played a character that created synthetics that were indistinguishable from humans playing an animated character who creates synthetics that are indistinguishable from humans.
@Apollomasque More of a homage, Batman TAS was written by some brilliant writers who knew their stuff, unlike the writers of The Batman...which sucks...
okay the first one I understand as reference. but the second one I don't understand how its a reference still, its just the guy doing a voice. was there really a reference?
It's the same voice actor. The character is an evil, rich corporate tycoon who has his own dream city (Think Delta city from Robocop). He has an army of robots. He also has an assistant named Johnson. :)
@AnunC8 I always thought this was a shot at the legend that Walt Disney was cryonicly frozen and stashed underground at DisneyLand. The "City" would be a homage note to EPCOT. There were other possibilities though...
its basically the robot from laputa:castle in the sky god that movie is so amazing, and Mark Hamill is in both Laputa (Muska (Romska Palo Ur Laputa)) and Batman TAS (The Joker)

The parts between the time of 3:10 through 3:40 after the guy said underwater project, for some reason it reminded me of Bio-Shock for some reason.

Blade runner scared me.
I had nightmares after I watched that about robots trying to kill me.
wish I had Batmans whole "touch me and I'll break every bone in your body" look.

Bat-mite kisses robin, smiles, turns to Batman....
Then immediately turns the other way.
As soon as Bats and that munchkin locked eyes, "Fuck Off" oozed from the Dark Knights every pore.

the robot in batman TAS looks like one used in an early superman animated series.
I remember it stealing jewellery. I can't remember the episode or exact series (it was one the first animated ones I think).

@Wh3nYour3Strang3 Odd that it was the comic book style and not the Superman: TAS style. Maybe Mxyzptlkated hadn't aired yet.

@htgnef Actually, he hadn't. This was about two years before Superman:TAS started airing.

The name "Rossum" is a reference to the first time the word robot was introduced into the world in the play R.U.R. - Rossum's Universial Robots.
