@senna636 I think the hornet's alright, it's definitely not as sexy as the cat but it's got its own look and function; ground assault and ECW, while the F-14 is the best of the best at what it does; dogfighting and interception, and should've been kept for that purpose. Maybe upgraded with a glass cockpit and supercruise and a more stealthy airframe but it served its purpose and should have been kept. If anything because everyone loves it so damn much!
@xTOPGUNxx naaa the tomcat just replaced it with the costs involved to be operational this which was much in the amount of years that had each, the tomcat is much better than the F-18

cool vid. I'm not sure that was a tanker the F-14 was trailing and then departed. Being as they appear to be over miles of ocean, it could ahve been an C-2A COD transport aircraft and they were on a photo shoot as they often did while on cruise maybe to compile to cruise scrap books, memories, calenders and promotional stuff. It also appears that the F-14 is dumping fuel which is the white stuff you see just for a moment.
I believe that shot is filmed from the point of view of the back of a tanker. The Tomcat likely disengaged from the hose or boom after recieving it's fuel and probably was showing off with a quick break..
photo op....flying off the back of a C-130 with the rear doors open to get some awesome air to air photos. check out Anytime Baby! by Erik Hildebrandt.
@flyboy4692 Could also be that photo op for Anytime, baby by Erik Hildebrand. There was a Photoshoot with the VF-101 Demo Team involved and it was shot out of the back of a C-130. 1:43 looks mighty like the Ramp of a Cargo plane, possibly the C-130.
@EliteGamers3501 That shot was taken from the back of either a C2 Cod or a C-130. Probably a Cod, since it's Navy. The Tom just snuggles up close for a great shot, then pulls away with a flare. Letting out a flare behind a tanker would be..., well, idiotic. Flying in close formation is an essential skill.
Ergh stop desecrating the tomcat with your shit music!
