  • def prefer this version to the studio one, 0:44...the sound!

  • I really enjoy the blues part at 01:12,very cool drum track and cool bluesy licks.Great stuff.

  • 8 Justin Beiber fans.......

  • Chicks sure know how to shread

  • my parents don't allow me to listen to malmsteen more than an hour a day.they say his speed and awsomeness can make me deaf....XDXD!

  • imbaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • 7 people dont know what a guitar is

  • @thyrfing2 They do..they are just mad that its his bitch and not...theirs....

  • Man. Just imagine all the songs he knows; classical, 60's and 70's rock, and his own music... My GOD!

  • @HOLYSTANG91 his work is impressive, specially the classical music on electric guitar with his own touch

  • Yngwie's Middle name should be Arpeggio

  • if any of you wants a 100% accurate tab of the arppegios in the beggining just send me an email.

  • His tone and phrasing just beats the shit out of all "I can beat Yngwie in speed" shredders of today...

  • @EuroKim replied, lol, please send me them,

  • Those arppegios, heavenly

  • And may paganini live on.

  • At the end of this video you could almost expect him to say "OK, i need a beer and a cigarette."

  • @Colombinany After seeing this, I need a beer. But not a cigarette, I'm 15 haha

  • Yngwie is the coolest pirate ever ...

  • @eMaLiO36 He's a VIKING! Yngwie means litle viking boy! also vikings were from those europe's nordic countries and dont forget about that song ( i am a viking )...

  • siempre me asombra este guitarrista. es mi idolo

  • that shit he does at the beggining is pretty amazing.

  • I've always liked Yngiwe's sense of style

  • Good job he decided to take up the guitar. It would have been a pity to waste that hair on accounting or something

  • hahahah

  • @mihohobaba Yeah but it might still be cool. How many people that dress up as pirates everyday turn out to be accountants?

  • lol

  • cara...e umas 16 notas pro segundo!!!!

    he rocks!

  • erez un kabron¡¡¡¡

  • My face is in a fucking puddle on the FLoor!!!

  • this is one of the few times i see his play with some feeling.

  • He got lots of that stuff, listen songs like Brothers for example.

Also many of his instrumentals that are not so wellknown are IMO very full of feeling(Majestic Blue, Lament). Id remommend listening those before making your oppinion. ;)

  • dude. is it just me or is harder to play standing up? not much but a little

  • it is in fact harder to play standing up, some people it might come as preference but alot of people have a harder time playing standing up.

  • glad someone thinks the same. i try to play as much as i can standing up. it's more fun i think.

  • Yeah it is harder for me, but I try to practice it sometimes, I don't have as much time to play now so practicing at all for me is good to stay in touch.

  • oh okay. i play everyday for a few hours. so i make sure i play. i love playing.

  • You are correct, if applying to some ppl.

I myself find it easier standing up allows my style to flow

  • It depends on how low your guitar hangs , if you carry your guitar on your knees its more difficult to reach the low notes. but when you stand your right arm is more relaxed than when sitting down.

  • you right man

on sitting is it much easier to play

    Yngwie Rules

  • The Best!!

  • Yngwie plays with tons of feel and TONE, something many other fast players lack.

  • 1:09 ... Yngwie doing the shred blues :)

  • i dun understand about 1.23 ??? anyone explain ? chers

  • you mean, what is yngwie doing at 1:23?

  • A pre-bend and release with wah peddle? then muted strum with wah.

  • cool man thanks

  • oh dude when you get the tab send them to me PLEASE

  • Anyone know where I can find a good tab for this part.

  • WTF!!!! malmsteen rules!!!

  • are you that jealous?

  • I love how in his songs he switches between harmonic minor and pentatonic. It gives a really cool effect to the song.

    You rock Malmsteen!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:53 - 1:02 = 0_0... speechless... how can someone be that good... absolutely amazing.. it kind of amazes u how most of this is improvised...

  • i see nothing special between =0:53 and 1:02

    boy

  • that's because you don't have musical taste.

  • No, i have musical taste, but i see nothing special in THAT PARTICULAR Point. I prefer the phrase he does just after that. at 1:07. THAT is good

  • i agree

    the 1:07 phase is sick

and so is the 0:57 part

  • everything is sick for me ^^

  • YJM Style

  • hes a beast, no doubt about it.

  • beautiful wow

  • So smooth! He's one of the few shredders who'se hands barely move.

  • omg 22 and on is fuckin killer

  • super brilliant

  • wow this is a gr8 one for showing a big range of playing and his style.

  • çalarkenki rahatlıga hayranım yaa

  • Does anybody know where I can download this entire video (without buying)!!!

  • go to google/video, u'll find plenty of yng videos including this one

  • i was replying to ikarusbodom

  • Malmsteen makes me want to dress like a pirate

  • Malmsteen é tecnica com dom, e muito virtuosismo.

  • it's so funny when he's done with the song, and he's like "oh well, what now to do?"... :D

  • Hahahahaha...u r so right...

  • check out at 01:04 the harmonic that comes out just after the lick is done. Watch closely and u'll find that he did it with his right hand ring finger by slightly and instantly touching the e-string. That's a true master of guitar

  • uhm... you don't mean the b-string? to me it looks like he doesn't use the e-string at that moment... but maybe i'm wrong since i don't wear my glasses right now... lol

  • Great observation there karimsalhani

  • Holy SHIT. You're right!

  • It's called a pinched harmonic, einstein

  • yeah, and then do it while you're playing a 6, I REPEAT, a fucking SIX string run with the alternate picking technique (yeah that's right not a sweeped arpeggio) lol.

Really, i want to see that. Einstein.

  • lol? 6 STRING SHREDDING HOLY SHIT SINCE WHEN?

  • i already told ya.

I'll speak to you only when i will see a pinched harmonic after the 6 strings run he does. Since it sound so "normal" to you, should be a simple trick, isn't?

    Bye

  • I'm sorry but you've lost me :( I don't even know what your point is anymore.

  • he didn't say six string shredding, he said six string alternate picking run...

    you're lost sport...

  • lol thanks.

Leave him alone, he's a jerk... he doesn't even know the technique that i was talking about lol

  • YJM's vibrat is pretty much perfect, but it's so easy for him for multiple reasons. You would know this if you've ever played a guitar with huge frets or scalloped or even just with .9 guage strings. Funny, yngwie uses them all.

  • word

  • gatta love his shreding

  • ...bro i dont even listen to guitar for any matter and this shit totally blows my mind!!!

  • yes!!

  • what scales is it in? it changes to A minor in the end right? and start off in?

  • in the interest of "if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything"

...i actually sortof admire his vibrato

  • does anyone know how to get his tone in a boss mt 2?

  • can anyone just tell me a good setting for the mt-2?

  • It seriously happened to me pretty often to fall on some new guitarist like liimatainen or michael romeo, or paul gilbert, and while listening to their lesson, thinking «omg this guys is so much better than malmsteen». I think that due to the complexity of their licks, cuz lets say malmsteen doesnt necessarily have the most original ones now since he keeps playing the same..

  • but everytime i come back to a sampler from malmsteen I realize how fluid he is. he's not necessairily the best guitarist, but I think he basically has the best technique in the shredders. when he picks, take a look at his right hand. man.. its not moving! u often see very good guitarist going very franticly with the picking hand, but he always uses economy picking and stays perfectly close to the string so he doesnt rush. well..

  • not only that. but the music is very melodic

  • furiousmat, good words. Some of these other guys like Jason Becker, Petrucci and Impelliteri were super fast, but didn't have the fluidity or grace of Yngwie.

  • "some new guitarist like liimatainen or michael romeo, or paul gilbert"

First album of Gilbert with Racer X was released in 1986... is that new?

    I love YJM's vibrato btw.

  • by "new" I meant new to me. like.. me discovering new guitarists..

  • Ok, then it's fine ;)

  • is that his new malmsteen model usa guitar?

  • is this his vitage marshal stack??or is it a effects prosseser like a pod or sumthing. wot are the setting on the pod or the marshal??? his tone rocks!

  • AWESOMEE!!!!!

  • and anyone whose anyone teaches themselves. like yngwie. there is no right way to play the guitar. if what you do sounds good then thats all that matters. surely you wouldnt say that how your fingers look is more important than the sound. this is music, sound is not everything...its the only thing

that said, if you cant look cool when playing live you might as well give up

  • man wtf are u guys talking about. the guy will place his thumb the way he wants to. and it depends a lot on the fingers length u've got...

  • He's Right because self tuaght develop their own style of playing such as me. I can play my guitar like a piano and sweep at the same time.

  • That was a retarded thing to say, people like you are what's wrong with music. You care more about image than music, personally I couldn't give a shit if a performer was a car accident freak playing guitar with surgically altered feet, sound is the ONLY thing that matters, the rest is for posers and models.

  • However if somehow you were being sarcastic about "if you cant look cool when playing live you might as well give up" and just managed to fail completely then you should know that the classical position is the most advantageous position, it has nothing to do with style infact the thumb-over-the-neck style has ONLY to do with image.

  • you're right, i do not care how fat yngwie is i still love his music, but 1 thing; some stuff he pulls out in concert, the showing of, IS part of HIS style, as he has his own style.

  • totally right, the guitar wasen't invented for the good look of it, see how dumm u look if you sit with a classic guitar? but the classical style with your guitar on the left leg is a very nice way to play, you just need a little platform to raise the left leg about 5 to 20 centimeters...

  • youre an idiot i question wether or not you even play guitar.

you said thumb over the neck has only to do with image

theres a guy name JIMI HENDRIX go watch him play and see where his thumb is at

jimi is a guitarist that actually plays he doesnt just shred moron

  • m1thotyn. are you reccomending that people play with their thumbs in the middle of the neck, not above?what a ridiculous thing to say. you just cant get as good a vibrato with your thumb in the middle. and its so much comfier with your thumb on the top, which when youre playing for 11 to 12 hours a day, is very important

  • Obviously you have no idea what I was saying since you are completely unaware of what is referred to as the classical position and the fact that the large majority of all good guitarists and beyond use it, the only ones that don't are ones who like to keep their thumb up for manly show or who have gigantic hands.

  • espectacular!!!

  • excuse me has any body seen matt damon?

  • My guit teacher used to tell me to always practice with 4 fingers. why the hell would he tell me that if malmsteen plays half his song with $%/? 3 fingers. Trying to tell me to be more religious than the pope

  • Well is your hand as large as malmsteens? If not you would want to keep your thumb planted on the back of the board and keep your hand mostly straight over the fretboard, if you have very large hands though then it doesn't matter. I believe he wears a size 18 ring? or is it 19?

  • Oh and he is using his pinky alot.

  • I just checked it for the hell of it and his ring finger is 19, but whats even most important is the width of the hand itself, not the fingers. I'm a guitar teacher, been for nearly 10 years and people like malmsteen, from my educated opinion, are using muscle memory more than anything, but can develop it in a adamant way, obviously because of the hand size, never having to really stretch. Measure yourself before you doubt you teacher.

  • oh and lastly keep in mind that you are not Yngwie Malmsteen, but check out Michael Romeo... It might bring a perspective to the technique differences and the importance of them, Michael Romeo has tiny little sausages for fingers and a midget hand, but he keeps his thumb back and his hand straight, lvl across the board. Just search him here on youtube, hopefully you'll get my point.

  • Aguante Norman Brown y Luis Salinas!!!

  • I'm so fat

  • gonna love the wha wha + delay when he play the "real" solo (not the sweeped arpeggios part)

  • this beats jason becker anyday i dont care if he plays 19 string arpeggios

  • LMAO. Very well put.

  • so much heart and passion pouring out of every note even if its shredded to the last bit

  • Just wanted to thank Yngwie and the folks at Fender on the signature model stratocaster,Such a unique tone,It actually is harder to play faster on it,but the tone and pick up selections are perfect.Yngwie is such a gift to the world of music,It's like he's from the classical period yet in the future at the same time,GENIUS

  • i love the faces he makes XD

  • lol he looks like steve the pirate from dodge ball lol

    awsome song tho

  • thats actually a ridiculously difficult intro 2 play

  • great video, i like to learn with the masters ;)

  • Be patients,please.
