where does the bible say that young people will get closer to god if they roll down a hill and puke???? give me a scripture verse.. its quite the opposite in scripture. the bible says for it is by GRACE that ye are saved NOT OF YOURSELF lest no man should boast.. The fruits of the spirit is love joy peace patience kindness goodness gentleness faithfulness and self control.. this reminds me of catholic beliefs. if you suffer for god then you are more holy this is nutzzzzz
Im all for this type of training. Its only when youre at the lowest point, when you cant go any lower, and you're still standing there. Still saying, gimme what you got. Thats when you know you can hang tough. I didnt go through this, I went through military basic training. I learned alot about myself in those weeks. Its all a metal game.
besides its unfair to blame anyone for putting yourself in harms way when you know you have a condition such as anxiety disorder. i mean, if i have asma and end up going to the hospital because my drill instructor is pushing me to complete a 15mile hike with 75pounds on my back up a mountain, whos fault is that? no one but my own. even if he saw the signs..it falls on me, not him. its called owning up to responsibility.
@jefferydawson777 But that is exactly what ESOAL facilitators look for-- your weaknesses. Afraid of spiders? They make sure to add some spiders to your events so that you are pushed over the edge. Again, check out some of the videos under the name RecoveringAlumni here on YT and you will see how they purposely use your fears against you.
@shannonkish you know, i have a fear of the ocean. im afraid to swim past 30 meters..sharks scare me. but when i sit at the beach i think to myself, no way! ive got to over come this! so i bought fins, and snorkling gear and set of to swim past the waves. im still scared i can only imagine what it will be like when i venture 1000meters or more or do it at night. but i remain calm and collected. im teaching myself how to overvome. thats the point of esoal
@shannonkish i guess so, but we have the right to disagree, great ol america...thanks for talking to me, it was nice of you to be mature about the conversation. Blessings to you:) take care, and i hope you have or will get better with your anxiety disorder. ttyl:)
whos responsibility is it to stay in shape? to be healthy and fit? whos responsibility is it to develop a mentality that says no, i will not give up, i will conquer this or that obstical in my life? is it not the individual? in my experiances a panic attack, or hyperventilating is a conditioning thing. you can learn not to have a panic attack, or hyperventilate. the two of those things are a conditioned response to stress; its a mental issue at that point.
@jefferydawson777 Sure, one can learn to not have a panic attack. BUT, as someone with Anxiety Disorder, it is not an easy process. It has taken a long time, medicine, and therapy to be able to manage my anxiety.
If they were concerned for safety, immediately upon seeing the signs of a panic attack, they would force the person to ring out or stop the facilitation process. BUT, instead, they taunt and torture the people more-- increasing their anxiety and panic further.
@shannonkish i think thats the a hard position to be in from a fascilitators point of view or just a friend who is going through it with you. Ultimately its your descion to ring the bell. and if you do, thats fine, if you dont, thats fine too. However i think the pushing to 'stay' is a tough obstical to over come. I rang the bell the last time i did it. no one forced me to stay. then again, ESOAL has changed dramaticaly from my first time. its easeir and they are nicer too. alot nicer.
@jefferydawson777 We will have to agree to disagree that it is easier/nicer. Based on the videos I have seen of recent ESOALs, they are crossing the lines in many ways.
imagine if the military didnt put marines, soldiers or any elite force through pain, and suffering, do you think they would have the emotional capacity to fight both physically and mentally? probably not. Like wise, it is the testing of our faith that brings purseverance..james 1:3-4.. ESOAL is an experiance, it doesnt promise you anything but to test and push you to a safe limit. what u do with it, is up to u.
@shannonkish oh cool, i had no idea you could click on the name and reply specificaly to a person lol i was confused as to why when u replyed it was to me personaly but when i would comment above, it seemed to just be open to anyone..ok, i replyed to u again on the main page.
I don't know why people complain about ESOAL no one makes you do it. If you don't want to do it don't, simply ring out. They offer the option pretty frequently, ESOAL is something that made me so strong. I am glad that I did it
Ron Luce, David Haas and Teen Mania Ministries, hang strong we are all praying for you. Thank you for what you do. My daughter went through your Honor Academy and also through ESOAL and was blessed. We love you and so do many, many others!! God forbid that someday we are under the persecution that 3rd world Christians go through. It may be coming and many won't be ready for it.
@alesko99 - It is all in your own point of view and the fruit a person sees in the life of one entering and ending with ESOAL. It is definitely not for everyone and maybe a tighter screening is needed even before the kids go into the Honor Academy. However, I probably wouldn't believe too much you would try to say to me by responding with such language. Out of the abundance of a person's heart, the mouth speaks. Once a soul tastes the love of Jesus, really tastes it, they are forever changed

@Dotlady1 Lady, believe me when I say this: consider putting yourself and your daughter in a mental hospital. On the double.
PS This is some seriously fucked. up. shit.
