My female tricolor setter has the SAME morose expression and unlike our other setters, would also just sit there, looking sad. The others would attack the water, eat the bubbles or simply run away. :)

I have an English Setter too. But when we give him a bath it takes two people to keep him in the tub and another person to wash him. My dog is a scaredy cat :)

My boss's setter had a litter of puppies and when they were 10 weeks old (or so) i took one home to play with for a few hours, the thing was a little terror... cute... but a terror. I took him back to her within 45 minutes and said "i cannot handle this!" I have 2 labs so the fact that I cant handle a setter puppy says a lot, but they turn into little mush pots when they are older.

I have a English Setter named Slapps and he's awesome...I also have a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Gus. Look into both of those dogs.

Hahaha... I know that face! My tricolor Llewellyn makes the same one. It's her patient, martyr face. I love my setter. Any dog with floppy ears can have the smelly problem. Check them about once a week, and if needed, clean them with otic cleaner. You can get it at the vet. A 6 month bottle costs about $3. Once you start using it, the problem usually clears up, and you won't have to use it as often. TSR
