During the 80's people gave away beetles from the 60's.. My first car was a 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965 VW beetle.. I took the parts from each that were in best condition.. I miss that car
Ever drive a transmission without synchros? Everyone who can mash down on a clutch and jamb a gear lever at the next sequential number thinks they're hot stuff, but you'd be screwed without synchronization. They weren't developed until 1952, and not universally adopted until nearly 1980 so a full synchro transmission this early in a car this cheap is huge.
yes i have, its not that hard really. FULLY SYNCRO trannys weren't developer until the 1950's but the higher gears were syncro before that. My buddys 1951 Chevy truck has a non syncro first but 2nd and 3rd are syncro.
The modern cone-type synchronizer we all know and love today was developed by Porsche and introduced for the 1952 model year. There is no "developing" a full synchro transmission, you either apply the technology to all gears or you don't depending on technical and economic decisions. Since you seem to understand the significance of the development, I assume you just can't help saying asinine things like "wow a synchronized transmission!" when saying nothing would serve you better.
and I assume you have nothing better to do than be an asshole towards other people. All I said was "wow a synchronized transmission" Then you automatically assume that I don't know how to drive a nonsynchro. first gear and reverse in this car are probably non since you generally don't shift to 1st or reverse while moving. FULL synchro means ALL gears. this trans was synchro in 2nd 3rd and 4th.
its like alittle tank!
