And just an FYI for people who don't know what happens to a voice when a body is in motion... when someone is jumping around or dancing (think of trying to sing while running) your voice tends to jump around as well. Also, when you're nervous or becoming out of breath, your voice shakes or trembles, not in a vibrato way. His perfomance rocked and all you haters are just jealous
Glee in a way is like a loooong music video and ANY music artist would vouch and say they sound way better in a music video. Editing ppl. Editing does a lot of the work in a sound booth. Plus Today's Show always seem to have bad audio when they have performers. ^___^:: <3 Klaine! woot!!

I watched it this morning! Darren did rlly good, don't forget that he's dancing while singing, and its early in the morning. I think those are the main reasons why he doesn't sound like he usually does, cause he's normally sitting when he sings.
Darren is my idol-hes the greatest inspiration I have as a singer (as in singing for fun) , and as an individual. Rock on Darren, don't let the haters get to you!

I don't think Darren sound that bad, fair enough he's sung better on many an occasion and it's not exactly a hard song to sing, but it was early in the morning and it's far harder performing something live - especially with all the jumping about. Give him a guitar and he'll knock you out.

Darren CAN sing. Yes, he occasionally messes up the lyrics, but he CAN SING. Just watch AVPM, or his performance at The Roxy or his shows in Manila.
I'm actually blaming Coachella. Knowing Darren, he must’ve screamed his lungs out during the festival. And I agree that it's a little unprofessional, but he's worked so hard during the last few months, so let's cut him some slack, he deserved to have some fun.

He was great at the beginning but when he started to jump around and stuff you could tell he was out of breath. That kind of thing takes practice and Darren is used to performing while standing still.
It's a hard song to sing! Personally, I think Darren did a good job given the circumstances and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Darren fan. True, he's sung better, but just because of ONE performance, you can't judge him on his vocal abilities. Because really, he is a SUPERB singer and musician.
I'd like to see anyone try not getting out of breath while moving that much and singing. It's not easy to do, and takes many years of intense cardio training to not get out of breath while singing and moving around a lot. So cut him some slack, he's a cool guy, and nobody's perfect. Although, in my book he comes pretty close. :)
Darren and the Warblers rock. Sure, they aren't perfect, but it is a nice change to hear Darren's naturally wonderful voice. I love that he is so kind to his fans. He's a great guy.

I love Darren but this performance was less that great, he performs well on a regular basis just because he had one off day doesn't mean he can't sing.
Darren is one of the best live singers out there. The fact is he sounds like he has a cold or his vocal cords are overworked. Watch AVPM or AVPM2 before you even think of judging because they didn't even use voice amplifiers for those shows. The man is only human .... he is allowed to have an off day and be sick.

Darren knew he was going to have to sing early in the morning for the Today Show. He shouldn't have overextended himself at the festival. It's called being professional.

Darren Criss, Titus Makin, Dominic Barnes, Curt Mega, Riker Lynch, Jon Hall, Nelson Beato, Aaron Page, Telly Leung and Cord Jackman. I love all you Warblers :D , But where's Brock Baker :( ?
Darren may not have a conventional well-polished singing voice and power like Adam Lambert (whom I love as well), but he has enormous qualities to his voice that are equally wonderful, passion, energy, honesty, raw emotions. He is also an actor and in a way, he "tells" his songs like a story rather than singing them prettily. Also to his credit, his amazing charisma, his great songwriting talents, and his ability to play multiple musical instruments. Isn't all this the mark of a true artist?
This is not the best of Darren's performances but the boy can sing without question. I am sure he is exhausted. Glee is very aware of their true vocal talents. Glee has put Darren out at every opportunity and rightly so. You are not invited to the Grammy Musicares benefit for Barbra Streisand without the vocal chops to be there. I felt bad for him because he is so much better than this performance.
It's the dancing. Well, nerves and dancing. He starts out and he sounds wonderful--and then they start dancing (more like jumping) and he loses his breath support. That's a hard thing to master--it's why people have to train to be in musical theater, and why a lot of pop stars lipsync live performances. But that's on Fox: if they're going to send him out to do stuff like this, they should either have him stand still while singing or help him train his diaphram to handle the jumping.
If anyone thinks Darren can't sing, they only need to look at one of his many YouTube videos or StarKid performances to clarify their opinion. Don't forget in these 'live' performances he does for Glee promotions, Darren is the only one actually singing - the other Warblers who appear with him on screen and in these promotional settings are lip-syncing to vocals recorded by the Tuft Beelzebubs. Having to sing alone while listening to a recorded a capella backing track cannot be easy!

I watched it this morning! Darren did rlly good, don't forget that he's dancing while singing, and its early in the morning. I think those are the main reasons why he doesn't sound like he usually does, cause he's normally sitting when he sings.
Darren is my idol-hes the greatest inspiration I have as a singer (as in singing for fun) , and as an individual. Rock on Darren, don't let the haters get to you!

I thought he sounded pretty damn good here. Like Raise Your Glass wasn't that great, I'll admit, but he sounded good in this. There have been better performances, though.

I ADORE when he messes up and sing "I'M the only one I'm thinkin' of" rather than "YOU'RE the only one I'm thinkin' of" and then there's that gap of singing until he realizes it and starts laughing while he sings. I don't think Darren sound that bad, fair enough he's sung better on many an occasion and it's not exactly a hard song to sing, but it was early in the morning and it's far harder performing something live - especially with all the jumping about. Give him a guitar and he'll knock you out.

Darren CAN sing. Yes, he occasionally messes up the lyrics, but he CAN SING. Just watch AVPM, or his performance at The Roxy or his shows in Manila.
I'm actually blaming Coachella. Knowing Darren, he must’ve screamed his lungs out during the festival. And I agree that it's a little unprofessional, but he's worked so hard during the last few months, so let's cut him some slack, he deserved to have some fun.
And I can't wait to see him live on the Glee Tour, I'm sure he will do great.

He was great at the beginning but when he started to jump around and stuff you could tell he was out of breath. That kind of thing takes practice and Darren is used to performing while standing still.

It's a hard song to sing! Personally, I think Darren did a good job given the circumstances and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Darren fan. True, he's sung better, but just because of ONE performance, you can't judge him on his vocal abilities. Because really, he is a SUPERB singer and musician.

I'd like to see anyone try not getting out of breath while moving that much and singing. It's not easy to do, and takes many years of intense cardio training to not get out of breath while singing and moving around a lot. So cut him some slack, he's a cool guy, and nobody's perfect. Although, in my book he comes pretty close. :)

First off Haters gonna hate. There's nothing we can really do. That being said, the poor boy has been run ragged these last five months. Of course he's gonna be off. Show me someone who does what he did today without having trouble. It's not my favorite song but Good God people the warblers were on the M***** F***** today show! I may not like the show but wow.
Personally I hate that glee does auto tune on his voice. Look at trevor live, AVPM, AVPS, his disney videos this man is truly talented.

Darren is one of the best live singers out there. The fact is he sounds like he has a cold or his vocal cords are overworked. Watch AVPM or AVPM2 before you even think of judging because they didn't even use voice amplifiers for those shows. The man is only human .... he is allowed to have an off day and be sick.

EXACTLY, I'm sure your posts will get voted down by Darren's fans that confuse good looks and good acting with good singing. His scenes in Glee are fantastic he steals the show, but without post production he just doesn't belong on stage with Lea Michelle. (Not to big a jab because I think most singers don't compare to Lea's talent)

from what i know darren almost always plays standing or sitting and rarely moving around which is why he sounds nervous and shaky, moving around a lot changes how you sing too but he did do a wonderful live performance with the other hunky warblers <3

Darren may not have a conventional well-polished singing voice and power like Adam Lambert (whom I love as well), but he has enormous qualities to his voice that are equally wonderful, passion, energy, honesty, raw emotions. He is also an actor and in a way, he "tells" his songs like a story rather than singing them prettily. Also to his credit, his amazing charisma, his great songwriting talents, and his ability to play multiple musical instruments. Isn't all this the mark of a true artist?

This is not the best of Darren's performances but the boy can sing without question. I am sure he is exhausted. Glee is very aware of their true vocal talents. Glee has put Darren out at every opportunity and rightly so. You are not invited to the Grammy Musicares benefit for Barbra Streisand without the vocal chops to be there. I felt bad for him because he is so much better than this performance.

It's the dancing. Well, nerves and dancing. He starts out and he sounds wonderful--and then they start dancing (more like jumping) and he loses his breath support. That's a hard thing to master--it's why people have to train to be in musical theater, and why a lot of pop stars lipsync live performances. But that's on Fox: if they're going to send him out to do stuff like this, they should either have him stand still while singing or help him train his diaphram to handle the jumping.

If anyone thinks Darren can't sing, they only need to look at one of his many YouTube videos or StarKid performances to clarify their opinion. Don't forget in these 'live' performances he does for Glee promotions, Darren is the only one actually singing - the other Warblers who appear with him on screen and in these promotional settings are lip-syncing to vocals recorded by the Tuft Beelzebubs. Having to sing alone while listening to a recorded a capella backing track cannot be easy!
