  • the rifle you are shooting has a 16in barrel. the shroud covers the whole barrel for looks. if you get your class 3 permit you can get kriss to make your barrel 5.5in long. giving it much shorter length. i own a kriss cbr that i got about a month ago, and they still have some kinks that need to be worked out.

  • @dantheman167 Sounds a bit misleading that way. You don't need an actual Class III permit, you only need an ATF approved Class III tax stamp for each NFA item. The Tax stamp proves the item is registered legally to the owner who has been approved by an extensive background check from the ATF and required taxes have been paid. Each new NFA item would require a new stamp.

  • @SERVIAM2008 The background check usually takes anywhere from 6 - 12 weeks from the ATF to clear. For those who want to purchase several class III items but don't want to wait the entire period for every new purchase they can also have an attorney set up a trust deed based on the integrity of existing Class III items already in possession. Basically the trust deed is a voucher of good standing that's submitted to the ATF. That cuts the waiting period down to about 2 weeks per new item.

  • @SERVIAM2008 One more piece of info for those interested in purchasing a Class III item. You'll need to be able to obtain a letter signed by your local sheriffs office that states your good intent with the item, and that you're basically a "good guy." You'll need to spend $200 up front for the stamp and usually a transfer/background check fee from the Class III dealer before the investigation and wait even begins. None of these fees are refunded if you're not approved.

  • I would rather have the Kriss in stead of the M4. May not have the range but when you are in a close range firefight .45 at 100m still packs a punch!!

  • @craw0808 So a close firefight is 100m? Seriously? Don't forget almost any body armor has no problem stoppin a .45acp. the 5.56SS109 shreds body armor.

  • @SERVIAM2008 Yes given the situations i have experienced IED ambushes have been in the 100m to 150m range. I can't speak for others but I have yet to be in a ambush that was 300+ meters. Keep in mind the Kriss was made for CQB. I don't know what body armor you are referring to but the 5.56 nato round (green tip) doesn't shred it when you have to ballistic plates inserted.

  • @craw0808 I think you misunderstood me. IMHO CQB is anywhere within 0 - 50m. About the armor, the greentip will defeat most soft armor of course but it will also destroy most plates rated under Level4 multi hit. The plates will stop a single round even at point blank range. But the plates are usually fractured on the first impact. Additional hits well you get the idea.

  • @SERVIAM2008 I do agree with you on the plates. They are good but shatter easily after a couple of hits. I want to save some cash and get a drangon skin vest.

  • @craw0808 Good luck with that one. Dragon Skin lost their prodction license almost 3 years ago. At that time the SOV3000 basic outer shell was more than $5000. The full kit was just under $10,000. I personally tested the SOV2000 series not for ballistics, but for user performance/comfort. I HATED IT. Same with most evaluators of similar body weight/size to my own.

The damn thing has no ventilation at all, it's enormous because the scales are overlapping. Feels like wearing a turtle shell

  • @craw0808 I've only known 1 person who owned and worked in Dragon Skin and actually liked it. But he was over 6' 6" tall, 360lbs and very low body fat. If you're built like a Viking or Conan you might think it's almost comfrotable. For the average Joe, it's more a handicap. It protects well, but I'd rather be able to run fast, instead of just sit there getting shot, lol. VIPs overseas wore it alot and it was fine for them, they dont have 70-100 extra pounds of gear strapped to their vests

  • @craw0808 And like I said, the price, lol. $5000 for the basic outer shell. If you're a big guy like the contractor I know who used one, it has to be custom made to your body. His was $7500 because of this. Then look at IBA costs. Without plates the Army pays about $350 for each complete armor system. Add a single curve front, triple curve back and 2 side plates and total unit cost is still less than $1100.

  • @SERVIAM2008 Wow 5000 for a vest!!! NOT!! Do you own a vector? Have you shot it again since this video? What do you recommend for an assault rifle?

  • @craw0808 A vector what? The US based Vector Arms makes several types of weapons, the South African company makes handguns. And what would I recommend for an assault rifle? That's an extremely general question. it depends on what you expect to use it for. What's your expected targets, range, terrain, your price range many many other variables

  • @SERVIAM2008 Do you own the kriss that you were shooting in the video?

  • @craw0808 No it was just a an evaluation piece to be tested by myself and dozens of other evaluators across the country.

  • @craw0808 My biggest gripe about the KRISS is its size. Even if all the bugs were taken out and it ran perfectly, it's still the size of a rifle but only offers a pistol round. Would be less cumbersome and more cost effective to just carry a nice 1911A1 style pistol as a secondary weapon. Extended magazines and race gun upgrades such as trigger mods and comps you could easily outshoot the KRISS with a handgun

  • @SERVIAM2008 It's a matter of personal preference. I like the idea of not having to carry more than one caliber for different weapon systems. For the situations i have been apart of I would have loved to have this weapon in hand. .45 protects my home and personal area but I like having the range that comes with this system and controllability. I have shot 5.56 for 20 years now and seen how it will kill or pass through enemies allowing them to keep fighting. .45 puts them down for good!!

  • probably u r unlucky enough to get the lowest quality kriss ever made. Fire a new one. its not fair to judge a weapon based on 1 gun.

  • @csfreak89 You're probably right. I recently had the opportunity to fire the KRISS SBR and the KRISS pistol. Both are virtually identical in operation but the pistol is without a stock. I had zero problems or hangups with either weapon.

  • it need to be glock mags stay away from the knockoffs

  • it was the mag or just light rounds

  • it had to be the mag i never seen the kriss jam

  • I commented on the original site on this. This was an earlier model and those are known to have issues. They have fixed those issues. I currently own 2 of them. An SBR and 16 inch version and they do come with sights, even earlier models. 2008-2009 models have these issues and were addressed. Also you said you would rather have that 5.56 rifle, well the one in this video isnt that great along with its accessories. Keep in mind the ammo used here may have been on the "not to use list".

  • I have a kriss. They come with folding BUIS made by MWI. That is standard. the range might have removed them, possibly didnt want people stealing them? I dunno. but they should have been there.

The mag seating issues is a given. Try pusing down the last round in a full glock 21 mag. it is hard as hell!! Well same for the kriss, I find it easier to lock the bolt back first then load mag and release the bolt catch to load. It is only when loading from a closed bolt is it tough.

  • I have a Kriss Super V. While some of your observations are spot on dont think that all krisses are the same. They are supposed to come with MWI BUIS AR type sights. The first run Kriss came with metal Magpul flip up sights. when folded down they also function as pistol sights if you were to shoot single handed.

  • @Solscud Excellent information, thanks for the comment

  • you had everything but you camel bak on lol......sucks you got a lemon there supposed to be the shit..return it use the lifetime warranty

  • I'm not the owner, this was just testing and evaluation. I enjoyed it anyway, always fun when it doesnt cost anything!

  • i bought the mil kriss with the 5.5 barrel and no problems. alittle expensive but worth it.

  • I'm convinced this one just didn't like me. Of course who could blame it? I'm a jerk! lol

  • There is one note i didn't cover. The magazine design you have, is that from glock or Kriss?

I know they made a sleeve to put an actual glock magazine inside of/or in order to couple it too. part of the design was to improve the lifespan of a magazine when being fired past 1000 cyclic rate. Food for thought.... It didn't look like you had your magazine sleeved in the TDI sleeve. Also it comes with a new spring. Those are critical components of that particular weapon system.

  • Also in your video you had made a comment about rather having 5.56 than .45 for knockdown. .45 has more kinetic energy. It's using pistol ammo not rifle ammo. Comparing apples to oranges. The LWRC makes some damn fine weapon though. I would rather go to war with m6a2/3/4 anyday... unless i was strictly clearing rooms. then i'd want a kryss for a sidearm and a .50cal beowulf for a primary.

    Lemme know about the sleeve.

  • no i am confused on how it jammed this much. i didn't get a jam yet.

  • All of the things you've listed have happend to me countless times with m16 platforms. I can understand your frustration.

thanks for swapping info. Take it easy.

  • Anytime bro, enjoyed it myself.

  • First off, there was a recall due to poor quality control. check TDI's website. The problem is in the parts they ordered and subsequently not being up to spec. Second, to actually come out and say 'ooh rah 5.56' isn't winning you any spots on the intelligence meters. Any expert can tell you that. 5.56 is actually a really crummy round. Comparing any m16 configuration weapon to a civillian version SMG is just plain dumb. The m16 variants aren't SMG's.

  • I never said the M16 variant was an SMG obviously you didn't get it. The point I was making was that this why should any SMG be just as large as a FULL SIZE Battle Rifle? Hardly a "SUB"gun anymore. Yet this weapon is limited to firing only PISTOL ammunition. When you consider size, weight, and ammuntion limitiations, the user would be better off using the everage 1911 racegun. They'd still have room enough for a full size rifle slundg on their shoulder. The reasons are endless

  • This was part of T&E for weapons which had been "recalled and refitted" with the proper spec extractors. Obviously this weapon shows many other issues besides failure to extract. Again my comparison to my M4 was another way of saying, "If you give me something as large and as heavy as a rifle, it should at least be as lethal as a rifle" The KRIS is as impractical as a screen door on a submarine and almost as user friendly. It's an ergonomic disaster.

  • It shouldnt require an expert to recognize that 5.56x45 is a cartridge with flaws so elementary that they cannot be remedied. It uses far too heavy of a powder charge to propel the round, The flash temp is higher than 7.62, less than 70% of the powder is consumed on the average 16" barrels, the list goes on and on. And who the hell ever said 'ooh rah' to anything???

  • What is sounds like to me... at this point you're not coming out and saying... ok i compared apples to oranges, and TDI can suck my d*ck for sending me a cheap ass civilian replica of the Kriss super V. Just realize the LE and military versions are considered top notch for room clearing by real professionals. L2seat da ammo in ur mag noob. Pull the cocking lever back like a man not a girl. The fricking things work like a charm when done correctly.

  • I personally would rather go to war with an m16 platform and a bag full of different barrels than any other weapon. Beowulf, Grendel, IAR, m110... even my old m16a2/a3/a4 from my days in the good ol USMC. But.... if you don't maintain your m16 platform of whatever variation. You get the same problem. Cocking lever must be pulled out and shoved back in when not lubed well. Seat the rounds in the mag. Keep mag maintained...ect ect. Same thing happens with those systems when done improperly.

  • Also, even in boot camp with a shiny new m16... the rifle butt shattered on me when i hit the assault course. ak 47? pfft. cheap pos. Very overrated. Now, I can understand it's appeal to people that just wanna grab a gun that feels like a park horse when you blow out rounds on full auto. It's cheap and easily maintained. Wouldn't wanna face off a Barret with the .408 at a range of 2500m with any of the listed weapons though. lol.

  • As for the cheap A2 style buttstocks, it's on of the first items I throw in the garbage. Replaced all mine with either Vltor's Enhanced Modstock or my current favorite, Magpul's CTR. Would love to try their ACS, but haven't the opportunity yet.

  • go to war with a remington acr with the 6.5 grendal option :) that guns a tank.

  • @marineman410410 I concur. The Grendel was properly named. It's a monster. I know of no other weapon system an infantryman can use that will knockdown let alone neutralize a target after passing through both sides of a vehicle. Amazing.

NATO needs to ditch the 5.56 and go the 6.5 route imho. This Depleted Uranium bullshit isn't acceptable, for very obvious reasons.

  • yeh and the remington acr is a better weapon system than the piece of shit m4 and m16. they are comfortable and accurate but after 6000 rounds they die or if you get sand in them.

  • 1 The mag "fell out" after firing the entire load

2 Five double feeds, during normal operation!

3 The only malfunction that can be attributed to "light charging" would be the 1 failure to reach full battery.

4 What "real professionals" are you referring to? This weapon is still in the T&E phases with very few government or LE contracts, and even fewer agencies which have used it in actual scenarios. Your basing your claims on opinions of other evaluators, not operators.

  • The information I spoke of wasn't evaluators it was from operators. Comparing a civilian model with the LE and MIL probably wasn't a good choice of topics. The increased barrel length rules the civilian model out imho. So i concur with you on the comparison of overall length, but again the civillian model wouldn't have ever been made if it were my decision. Business is business though.

  • Malfunction on me twice, and your gone. Junk gun. But hey, I'd rather pack an 03' a3 springfield than a dagum 5.56 anything.

  • 1903 Springfield? Wasn't that 30-06? Can't remember for sure but it's still a hell of a rifle. 30-06 is one of the best long range cartridges ever designed IMHO

  • Yeah the 03' springfield was chambered in 30-06. That super v looks like a brick to carry anyhow. If your looking for a .45 sub gun you can't do better than the H&K UMP.

  • I still love H&Ks rifles and subguns. I wasn't very impressed with the G36 replacing their G3/91/93 series. The shooter truly pays for the lighter weight with increased muzzle movement. I do like the UMP ALOT. One of the best ever .45 subguns. Rate of fire isn't insane like most so ammo isn't wasted as much in full auto and it's still controllable and small.

  • clearing a room? just use an AT4 CS

  • What's up Brother? You were on my mind alot about 3 weeks ago. Be sure to give your nieces a big hug for me.

  • It's a piece of shit. Don't blame a caliber (45) with a very high stopping power for what a poorly designed gun is doing. That gun wouldn't do any better in any other caliber. It has ramp feeding and extraction problems.

Don't waste your money on what a MAC10 or an UZI can already do. There were even AR15 in that caliber back in the day.

  • 45 is a man dropper at close range, and I agree with the rest of what you said also thanks Pops.

  • the deal with the iron sights, im sure if you were to "deck it out" as kids say today, you could buy a good reflex sight for the gun, or a nice short range red dot x4. in anycase im sure that gun would be a great one to fire off.

  • What concerns me is the height over factor with this gun. it's designed for very close range fighint but the barrel is already several inches from the rail without sights. After adding optics or even flip up irons it's just going to increase the need to "hold high" on all the close range shots. It seems like a very serious liability risk if civilians are involved, hostages, barriers etc.

  • Aside from the high number of malfunctions, this gun is probably a dream firing in full auto because of it's design. The rate of fire (1100rpm) is comparable to the Mac10 (1200rpm) which is extremely fast. Extreme high fire rates also lend themselves to smooth handling. Vs the UMP.45 at 700rpm which makes you feel as if you suddenly got Parkison's, lol. The KRISS in semi auto however, handles just like any other carbine it's size on first round flip.

  • There's advantages and disadvantages to rates of fire that must be considered to the operator who'll employ them. At 1200rpm, you'll spend an entire 30rnd mag in just 1.5 seconds. if you're clearing a room that means you stand a high probability of running a gun dry before you neutralize the targets. but it runs smoothly. At 700rpm, you have almost 3 seconds for 30 rounds, but the low rate of fire causes more felt recoil per shot which translates into muzzle flip and controlability issues.

  • Comment removed

  • Well as far as i know (which is little) about the super V, is that it has little to no recoil and that its got an insane firerate, i have never fired one my self, for smgs i fired

    mp5a3

    ump

    p90

    mp7a1

    Thompson .45 (military type)

    "Greaser" .45acp smg

and of all those on the list, id say the mp7a1 was one of my favorites, but the p90 was also a good gun, i agree with you on the option for guns, a 1911 is better, smaller and easier to handle.
