I believe she is participating a Sufi contest and the sufis usually wore a kind of turban like hers. Moreover this shabad can be very well related to sufi songs/wrotings.

First, Turban is because she is part of the sufi clan on the show, their hair hangs out like that. Second, we don't have a rule that says u have 2 "hide" ur hair to pray, her head is covered. Third, when she did the mool mantar from japji sahib on this show, she had a chunni on n sat down properly n did it. Third, this is not a shabad, it's a dharmic geet.
