Melvin Taylor - Slow Blues in G

Im a guitarist, and the blues is what id call my roots. My main inspiration is Guns N Roses, especially Slash, but guys like Melvin Taylor, Muddy Waters, BB King i cant get enough of. Like Jimi H once said, blues is easy to play but hard to feel. Blues is easy to play, and the scales are very easy to shred like he does, but thats where it lacks feeling. His creativity is also limited, the lics he plays are very similar to each other, just on different strings. Slow down mate, and youd kill it!

Sure, the kid plays hot...but he plays like a 13 year old kid. That's NOT a put down. There's a certain maturity that blues players (or even classical musicians) learn only with years and years of playing.

It's called character or style. How much life experience does a kid have? Even if you can play like Otis Rush or Melvin Taylor...you're not Otis or Melvin.The kid has flash but not substance.

I think it's cool as Hell that Melvin is encouraging this kid! It says a lot about the man. That kid could be the future of blues and Melvin knows it. As a guitarist its important to help out younger people. Sort of groom them for the future. Very cool!
