  • hahaha lauren that guy Alex Day is hilarious!!

  • Can I has cake?

  • :D you're hilarious! and the jabberwock thing bugged me as well.

  • Cool video :)

  • you're a bit of a loser

  • That poem scared and scares the crap outta me . sooo creepy.

  • I definitely agree with everything you said, and that clip of Alex Day is my favorite part of his reading so far.(aside from the fact that he's hilarious). I think you should give alice in wonderland another chance.

  • The creature is called either one - Jabberwock or Jabberwocky. It doesn't matter which. Even though the title is technically with the -y.

  • awesome "I really like the books, I think they're terrible writing!"

that's my attitude to the movies - I have a non-existent threshold for the books (they're fucking awful) but i enjoy the movies as guilty pleasures.

but that comment made me LOL

  • First time watching, and I really like the style of your video! MAJOR POINTS for knowing the entire Jabberwocky poem! :^)

  • I know exactly what you mean with the whole name thing, as a lauren myself i loved hearing Alex Day have a giant rant lol

  • I'm very anti-twilight, but I loved the first half of the video about Alice in Wonderland ^^

  • I understand. Alex is AMAZING. :) When I watched that clip, I wished my name was Lauren. Haha.

  • HA! i just knew you were going to say alex day! never read the books or watched the film nor do i have the intention to do either after watching alex's video's.

saw the new twilight trailer today as well my thoughts are exactly like yours i thought it was a cheap fan made flick... even though i was in the cinema.. iron man 2 is awesome btw

  • I'm a huge Alice fan, but for some reason I never memorized the poem. I guess that's why it didn't take me out of the movie because Johnny Depp's accent while saying it was really cool and I didn't miss the few lines they skipped. I did go see the movie twice and loved it both times, but that's just me. (I didn't mean to go it twice but it was either go see again or see Clash of the Titans :P) By the way, I've been watching Alex's series since that beginning and it's so awesome :)

  • i memorized it to...... youre not weird, you just appreciate literature that was written when the author was high. heh. oh and yeah i was kinda disappointed with the movie too. Oh, and yeah. Alex Day is a hawtie. haha. i love his videos.

  • I loved the movie, but I must admit my main exposure to the Alice in Wonderland story is from the Disney cartoon.

  • I totally agree with what you said about the butcherance of the poem. I lost all ability to like the movie at that point, which really kind of disappointed me because I wanted to like it. (I, also, memorized the Jabberwocky just for funsies sometime in middle school.)

I think I'm going to go see it again and just watch it as somebody who doesn't care that much about book-to-movie adaptations.

  • Oh, PS: Ditto with the name thing.

  • Boom! Second comment:

On a larger note, I am tired of Burton putting Depp in pasty makeup and calling it a day. He has gone from quirky and original (Edward Scissorhands) to pandering to the Hot Topic crowd (everything from the last 5 years[not the musical Last 5 Years, I like that]) Would it be too much to ask him to actually try something different instead of the same "different" we've already seen?

  • I had many of the same complaints you did. I didn't notice the cutting of the poem, as I've never had it memorized. However, I find it terribly reminiscent of how Burton cut down the songs in Sweeney Todd. I would be going along trying to enjoy the film and BAM the song was over less than halfway through. I try not to compare adaptations to the first form, but cutting the songs hurts the movie and I suspect Burtons choice re: Jabberwocky (the poem) hurt the film. In the end, it was fluff.
