Seo's 'genius' is that he can digest extremely varied range of foreign musical influences and introduce them to Korean market in a very radio-friendly format - he deserves a LOT of credit for variety he brought into Korea, but his fans trying to deny his obvious influences (which Seo himself never does) is just plain embarassing and ruins his credibility.

true, tho he has a wide spectrum of fans and not all of them deny his influences just to "enshrine" him. no musician works in a vacuum, so it's just a matter of how much seo deviates from his influences for one's taste. i find his sound more complexly structured, the production more meticulous, and he has a vision for "youth culture" accompanying his music/marketing/gig presentation that's intriguing.
