  • nice playing. are you playing with yout right hand G minor blues??? or something else. if it is G minor blues, im gonna play also a little of that jazz. i always play blues improvisations. you shood try that to.

  • I struggled with jazz comping for so long until I was enlightend by the power of the tritone. Find the augmented 4th (sharp 4) from the 1 chord then play a 4th or 5th above it and a 4th or 5th below it (it won't matter that much). When you don't have to play the root these 3 notes will always sound good because they are altered 9, 11, 13 which center around the tritone (#4). Move them down a 1/2 step over the 2-5 change and you will sound totally pro. Try it and you will see

  • Good tutorial. I want to give you a hint tho. Whichever key you're in, always try to talk about about the same key signature all through the key. For example: if you're refering to B flat as B flat (and not A sharp), don't mix in sharps like D sharp. Instead use E flat.

  • Does anyone here know of some advanced jazz videos this guy is good but I was hoping to find something a little more advanced

  • Good god man, that is sure something else.

  • Hey ben, you said before that you have an expansive knowledge on chords, how did you learn what you know now of chord structures.

  • Thanks for the comment.

Well I initially learnt all my basic chords from my keyboard, which has a "chord finder" setting. From there, I practiced playing chords to songs, experimenting with my own songs and working out the different inversions for all the chords.

Chords are extremely useful to know about as they are the basis of everything; melody and harmony are based around the chords used in a piece.

I advice looking up some chords to learn the basics, then EXPERIMENT.

    Good Luck!

    Ben

  • This is really fantastic stuff! Do you learn the jazzy stuff from sheet music? or do you just kinda figure it out yourself?

  • Thanks :) The Jazzy stuff I do I kind of figure out myself. I have quite an expansive knowledge on chords so creating little songs like this isn't hard at all.

    Hope the video helped :)

    Ben
