@singmio is there any possibility that the Melaka cendol is different compared to the Spore chendol? (see, even the spelling is different) Moreover, all the information gathered are based from the Melaka Peranakan, in which careful qualitative interview was conducted on authentic Baba & Nyonya.
Very nice. I really enjoyed that bit of history and culture. It is sad to think that this culture will one day be lost completely as we become more modern =(. The only thing that survives is the food and handicraft! =D
As a 4th generation Baba, now living in Australia, I am very appreciative of this production. An excellent summary of a wonderfully unique culture. Your production team should be very proud of this. If anyone is to ask me to explain what it is to be Baba or Nyonya, I will send them this link! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Your criticism is unwarranted. Each English speaking country has its own way of diction and pronunciation and this is widely accepted. In this case the narrator has done well as he is understood easily. The Americans and Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders, South Africans and Indians speak their form of English differently. In England the Yorkshireman and Londoner has different diction and pronunciation. All is well.
Theshredded daun for granishing and flavouring the laksa gravy is not daun limau purut. The correct one is daun kesom.

It is sad that the Peranakan culture is tapering towards extinction.
This is going to be a great loss to the cultural heritage of Singapore and Malaysia.
The rich Peranakan culture is unique in this part of the world and should be preserved.
