Dunno why but I associate this play with Desolation Row. Maybe beacuse what Beckett meant by Godot, was waiting for the jackboot
to come down like Orwell's eternal prediction for humanity.

I was impressed with Beckett when I was in my 20s, but now I think he was just a clever fellow who was probably amused by how critics ate up the arty nonsense he served up.
The alienation of modern man, blah blah blah.

Nonsense as in existentialsm? Probably one of the most important strands of philosophy and one that holds the most finest works?
This is actually an extremely intelligent and enlightening play.
