i dont think Venus got hit, i think Venus blasted one of those tetrahedron ships just like Jupiter did in Aug '11 exactly the same effect before Elenin (tetrahedron) broke in to before changing course. do your homework. this is no camera flare, that is disinformation.

If this was a lense flare then the camera's Stereo & Soho would be pretty useless to us.How would you tell a lense flare from a solar flare? Personally,i don't think something hit Venus,i think something exploded out,a bit like the Sun.

@lynxeh erm if you took time to look you will see that I clarifies from yesterday that this is an effect of the lens. I can't speak for people two weeks ago, I only became aware of this two days ago and by yesterday I had clarified it was just lens flare. Sorry if that is not quick enough for you! lol

I can show you that exact afect through any of my solar telescopes whenever you like.  It's called optical flaring. Occurs on the edge of the image. Does make for a cool video though.

I have reason to suspect this may be caused by a mechanism of the type of camera used for monitoring this aspect of the Sun. When bright objects leave the field of vision they seem to flare back in momentarily. I will await someone to confirm or refute the various theories as this is not something I am qualified in. One thing is for sure nothing has been noted in major news and Venus is looking pretty normal in the night sky.
