++HELP PLEASE++ my convict pair have free swimming fry how long can they stay with the parents?? and can i still do water changes with eggs or fry??
hmm...convicts usually dont eat their frys...may i ask how big is the tanks? (in gallon) do you have other fish in there? have anyone been putting stress on the fish like tapping the tank? i am a tropical fish owner in CA and i might know how to prevent convicts to stop eatting thier frys
20 gallon tank, they have it all to themselves. i DID do some cleaning and slight rearanging of rockwork and some of the babies got siphoned out when cleaning the sand (i hsand in there now). but i put all of them back. so yeah, they were stressed.

not all of them my pair ate my fry and now when they breed i put the fry in the breeder trap until they get about 5 times as big as when they were babies
what do you feed your fry

Because he probably thinks they messed with the fry so he takes that anger out on him.

are you sure it's not putting it in his/her mouth to protect/move the fry?
i'm pretty sure convicts move small free-swimming fry back to their "cave" at night to prevent other fish from eating them

BenCints 4 years ago
anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks after birth it just depends on how much strength their fins have
