  • Hi Jesse. I just but Lenovo. I just found out that there are two types of screens. The genius who sold it to me didn't tell me of this. I am so gutted that I cant use my screen using touch. Do you think I can upgrade the screen? I just bough it today and can't wait to call the genius on a work day! Thanks Jesse.

  • @alfatih7 I would look for an exchange as fast as possible. A manual upgrade (you disassembling and attaching stuff) of the screen from pen only to touch+pen would be too much work, and maybe not even possible. My recommendation is to exchange it.

  • @JesseBAndersen Thanks a lot for the prompt reply bro. Man, I am so disappointed. Its going to be a pain cos im right now working in Bahrain and it will take ages until I get the thing exchanged. :-( I will call the genius. Plus I just realised that there is also no thinklight on my laptop too as I ave pressed the button and nothing happense. Gosh, what else am I going to find out thats missing? :-( Thanks again.

  • @alfatih7 The keyboard is a standard used on several ThinkPad systems. This means that there may be keys that don't do anything. I presume this is a move by Lenovo to reduce manufacturing costs. I saw the same keyboard on the Lenovo ThinkPad W520 which did have a light. The Lenovo X220T does not have a light.

Some people prefer the tablet with pen input only. I would encourage you to use it for a bit and determine if you want touch. With touch+pen there can be accidental palm clicks.

  • @alfatih7 Wacom technology

    Series 7 Slate - touch + pen input - /watch?v=tgme1XRKpgI

    X220T - Touch + pen input - /watch?v=oof2wRSgGrc

    N-Trig technology

    T580 - /watch?v=I1VxxWoDtkg

    Flyer - /watch?v=64ybXz8i-0g

  • @JesseBAndersen Oh, the multitouch pad is useless because it is just too small. I need to use fingers of both hands and even that doesn't go smooth. :-(

  • @alfatih7 The touchpad is actually bigger than the X201T had. I got used to the trackpoint. Since the touchpad is synpatics based it can be modified for different sensitivity levels.

My HP laptop had one and it was terrible, so I modified it. /watch?v=cG9FYqnmfgQ

  • I notice you're using Cooler Master. Would you recommend your model? Or are there also other cooling options you like?

  • @colinfirst002 For the Cooler Master to work with the X220T you would also need the Series 3 Ultrabase. The Series 3 Ultrabase would raise the system up and make it the Cooler Master a bit more useful. There are many cooling mats/pads/stands out there, maybe there's something even better.

It all depends on what kind of thing you want to do with it. If it's just cooling I'm sure there are better ones, but the Cooler Master works fine as a stand.

  • Jesse, is it the case that the finger touch/gestures will not work with the Outdoor version of the x200 tablet?

  • @StrictlyTopSecret The outdoor versions have been "pen only" and therefore finger touch gestures won't work. #Lenovo

  • @JesseBAndersen Thanks, Jesse!

  • The Lenovo x220t, the first tablet with gestures made for bears!

  • @WerdTalker :)

  • Hi Jesse thanks for the videos. I'm thinking to buy this item, i'm a proud owner of a Panasonic CF-C1 tablet that i love. But unfortunately the screen has a poor viewing angle. My only question is: what do you think about 16/9, portrait mode use? At poor resolution of 768?

    thanks in advance

    Cris

  • @delpi1969 If you like to use portrait mode don't count the X220T, it is better suited for landscape mode.

  • @JesseBAndersen

    thank you!

  • @delpi1969 You are welcomed.

  • okay thanks! that's good. i just ordered mine and i'm very excited.

  • jesse, what does the screen feel like? is it solid glass? or does the screen depress when you use touch gestures?

  • @paul13243546 Solid glass. You would have to push really really hard (to the point of breaking it) to get any flexing.

  • What is your X220t resting upon? Is that a base station?

  • @mechan9 It's a Cooler Master Ergostand. It doesn't work that well for the X220t on landscape mode. The stand works well with the X201t.

  • what if one only has three fingers?

  • @pavko718 Hopefully with the other hand you have two extra fingers that you can use and therefore have five fingers. But if you are unlucky enough to have only three fingers then you can access the same features by using key combinations.

  • how much divece

  • how much

  • @98iraqi How much what?

  • @jesseBAndersen :: what is the Integrated Graphics no: is it HD3000 or HD 4500 ?? And does it come with digitizer pen by default or should i order apart from 220t ?? And does it have a webcam? coz while booking online i saw as "No Webcam" is the only option. Kindly advice.. Thanks,

  • @manojvasanthram Lenovo has listed on their site that it's the HD Graphics 3000. If you want specific details I suggest googling the processor names.

  • @JesseBAndersen :: can you plz answer the other questions too ?? Thanks,

nd does it come with digitizer pen by default or should i order apart from 220t ?? And does it have a webcam? coz while booking online i saw as "No Webcam" is the only option

  • @manojvasanthram It comes with the pen by default. The webcam is an optional thing that you can add for $30 extra.

  • Can I use a 750gb 7200 rpm internal HDD with this tablet? Please reply...

  • @abhintel If it's a 2.5 inch HDD it will work. The one that I have in mine has a Seagate 320GB 7200RPM ST320LT00 PN9VL152 - 070 3.0 GB/Sec.

  • I have heard all multi touch tablets have a slight grain in the screen because of the digitizer, is this true for the x220t?

  • @kenleong89 Yes. There's a layer on top of the screen which does add a slight grain. The X220 Tablet's screen has improved from the previous X201T, and it's better than my external monitor. The IPS technology does help it big time. I would love to compare it with the Gorilla glass version which is supposed to be the "outdoor"/brighter version.

  • @JesseBAndersen Bummer. I would love to use it for some photo editing. And the standard x220 has so much more battery life with the 9 cell. Thanks anyway Jesse! Great job.

  • @kenleong89 For color precision minded people it's a concern to take into account. I gotta wonder if the Wacom Cintiq tablets have the issue too. Yes the battery life is impressive with this tablet. HP, Dell, and Fujitsu have their convertible tablets too, but the X220 Tablet is a very tough one to compete against.

  • @JesseBAndersen: How does the 4 finger touch work? Is it press and hold with 4 fingers until the Aero Flip shows up, and then use all 4 fingers to slide left and right? Or can you press with 4 fingers until Aero Flip comes up, and then use 1 finger to slide left and right?

  • @ch405ph03n1x Press and hold with 4 fingers, wait for Aero Flip to show up, and then slide with the 4 fingers left or right.

  • ok, thank you

  • I haven't used a tablet with multitouch before, so I'm curious the features. I think I'd like to do alot of reading on it, so I'm curious if it has an easy way to scroll through a PDF, say by flicking your finger up or down, which is common with smartphones. Also if you pinch or pry, will that zoom out or in? I'm thinking of getting an x220. Thanks

  • @srmccann6 Yes it does all of those.

  • How do you manage to get one of those laptops? Did lenovo just send it to you? I am just curios

  • @DonKanalie Wel... I think Lenovo sent me the X220 Tablet because of the potential of creating buzz and answering a few thousands questions. It's marketing and PR for free. It's basically a trade. They send me a test unit, I make videos and blog posts, and the viewers can enjoy the content and ask questions. No company sends someone something for "free". ;-) Give and you shall receive (or something smart like that).

  • @JesseBAndersen I figured it was something like that but what I actually wanted to know was how you got started so that Lenovo sends you a laptop for review. Just curios.

  • @DonKanalie How to do it.... You talk to someone that works at the company, present the reasons why you should be allowed a review unit, and prove that you could repay it if the system gets damaged. No company is just going to send you anything, when you are a no one you have to work for it. Besides it's a loaned system so I have to return it in good conditions.

  • isnt it the x200t (t*)

  • @BB0YMatty nvm what i said, t for tablet

  • @BB0YMatty Everything that I have read so far indicates that it's called the X220 Tablet. This might be a move by Lenovo to make things a little more clear for newcomers. It makes a bit more sense for search engine optimization too... like if someone is looking for "tablet" the X220 Tablet would show up... if they used X220T it may not do as well in search engines.
