So it's really a Hungarian song then:)) Bratislava was the capital of that Hungarian Empire up until 1848. Then the Czech/Slovak relationship along with Communism. Hard to really understand what the origins of any traditional songs would be from. What language is used in the song and are there any traditional Slovak songs that exist without the influence of the Hungarian Empire and peoples from those times? I agree about fuck communism:))

Slovakia was part of Kingdom of Hungary from year 1000 indeed, land was annexed by Hungary after the disintegration of the Great Moravian Empire in 10th century. In matter of fact Hungarian language take over 40% words from old Slovak.
