So, a guy loves a chick, but she's rich and he's not, luckly she likes him back. In a joke she said she wanted the most prized gem from the statue of a powerful god. He fought him for it but the dude got it. He gave it to the girl, but she was only joking so wouldn't take, so he killed himself. That's what I've gathered. tell me if i'm wrong.
@RedKruzer I had to watch it twice before i got all of the points, RK, but it was worth it. I really like this poem. I had heard about the poem from one of my friends at summer camp. Where did you first hear it?
I had heard the poem once, only recitated, without music (can't remember by whom, it's ages ago), and I loved it. It's greatly sung by Sean Tyrrell I was introduced to just about a few days ago by lukessummer.
Thanks so much for sending me this Red!!!

Mary, Sean wrote music to David Marcus' translation of Cuirt an Mhean Oiche. He toured Ireland
performing it with many illiterations. An early one drew this praise:"The poem was given a dramatic
presentation with all the boost and blast-off that song and music and topical allusion can provide.
The psychosexual demons were no longer at bay but rampant and fully recognized. Orpheus had
been re-membered in Ireland" Seamus Heaney - Nobel Poet Laureate
