  • We're there any German reenactors at this event?

  • @WheatleyBrothers all up along the crest of the hill. Around 50 Germans if i remember correctly. Had mortars, MG's and all there regular weapons. The mortars fired tennis balls if i remember right.

  • i liked ike at one time ,, my parents voted for him also ,,,but now he has fallen from favor ,,, the bloodshed her orchestrated could have been avoided ,,,, scandinavia was were the invasion should have taken place ,,,,, he threw bodies at the germans in a senseless invasion ,,,, it was high profile and got him the presidency ,,,,, to bad al the high ranking powers did not let there egos go and do the right thing ,,,,,,,,,, the kids that invaded the beaches all should have become president

  • Why are there 29th Infantry soldiers wearing Airborne helmets with cam netting? Could it be that the walty re-enactors are more interested in showing off their collectibles than actual historical accuracy?

  • @inamonianim Could it be that you are just seeing things? The cam netting is perfectly exceptable and not an issue what so ever. Airborne helmets were NOT used and just to back me up, the organization that does this event has a strict code they stick to and if you don't perform you don't go on the beach. Just make sure you know what your talking about before you make it public. thanks for the interest in the video.

  • Great Video

  • what parts are you seen in the video since your description says youre in it?

  • how do u kknow if your hit

  • @gnlgon if you get tired, just "take a hit" Remember the 29th took the most casualties on d-day so we try and reflect this at the end of the day by only a few people remaining.

  • what do you guys shoot? like bullet wise?

  • @xXBethRocksXx theyre blanks

  • the us should have sent the soldiers through norway ,,,, ,with one tenth or less the loss of lives ,,, but it was not theatrical enough and macho generals had to play war games ,,,,

  • they are to fat to be ww11 soldiers

  • @heettreet what happened to world wars 3 to 10 dude?

  • @Dylan9951 fb thank you ,,, i'll use roman numerals next time ,,, my grammar school teacher would have been proud of you ;)

  • @heettreet lol i didnt mean to sound like a grammar NAZI hahaha pun

  • @heettreet about half if not more are current military or are in high school/college. Maybe its the gear that gives the look? I don't know but i weight 145 and im 6'2" So i dont know what to tell you. I will say that some reenactors need a cargo chute if they ever go airborne though.

  • My grandpa was a member of the 29th Infantry Division, he was only 16 and lied about his age to get in. He helped storm Omaha Beach, and was a staff sergeant.

I'd really like to join you guys, but I live out west. :(

  • 1:56 the best speech ever starts

  • I added it to my favorites

  • cool! very well made

  • I hope I was allowed to use some pieces from this awesome video!

    I faved and gave credit.

    check my new video out!

  • Who are you guys kidding?....Just a bunch of old, fat retirees with nothing better to do. Try losing some weight ok?

  • Comment removed

  • @pctucker hey, uh ya. just for the record, i reenact. i am 18, 6 foot 5" and 165 pounds. so go right on and call reenactors fat and old, when in reality they're not. Also, i would like you to know reenacting is a way for us to not forget history, for us to remember what happened and to respect those who served, and died for our country.

  • fake

  • @jegertobbak123 It's called reenactment

  • @detijdVLOGD How do you re-enact a situation you have never been in?

  • @stahlwerke doing the best you can from the stories from the vets among other things such as books, documentary's and then just the fact of "what do i do in combat".... well you run.... you get cover... you return fire.... move..... you know, war stuff.

  • @jegertobbak123 for real? could have sworn i was actually in d-day...

  • @AleshaLovesJan ...God Bless Him,

and please thank him for our continuing freedom in England. Johnny.

  • My great uncle stormed Omaha, he was on the land mobiles, his gunner had his head blown off and he drug him to shore, not realizing until then what had happend.

  • How did they make this, is this a movie? did they use real guns?

  • My uncle was with the 29TH at Omaha. He was seriuosly wounded near St Laurant , but survived to live a productive life. My hats off to the brave men who served with that fine Division.

  • @hardoncrimefromRS Thanks! That cleared up alot for me

  • Amazing! But just one question. That is, do you use like airsoft guns for reenactments?

  • @MASTERAK26 I think they use guns that fire blanks

  • @hardoncrimefromRS real weapons, just firing blanks with a blank adapter.

  • this is really well done im surprised

  • Its Called A Hobby Haters And My GrandFather Survived WWII And Died In The Korean War I Salute Him And Those Of His Friends Allies And ALL Other Soldiers That Have Died For Freedom And For Honor

  • Living history is a great thing and I hate to see many people on here don't understand or appreciate it. Sure, they could mime the recoil a little better here and there, but it's great to see people doing this! Is there company/unit leadership or is it every man for himself? That would be awesome if there were fire teams/squads/platoons and whatnot.

  • 7 people are nazis

  • it must suck to pretend to lie dead if you're shot lol!

  • @psychodrumplayer14 its a good rest some times haha. One that you cant take in the real situation and get up when your ready haha.

  • Plus if you have to spend money on getting your wife jewelry all the time and constantly buying expensive gifts to keep someone around its probably safe to say your best bet would be to put on a uniform and join us on the beach.

  • @1canparaman

How do you determine when someone goes down?

  • @1canparaman crap answer from a pussy.

  • BOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

  • Just want to say some things since a few people want to throw a punch at reenactors over the internet for being "fat" or spending money on this stuff instead of "jewelry for there wife's of college funds" or being afraid of joining so instead they play army... Well alot of us are either 1. Not even out of high school. 2. retired and have kids who have kids. 3. In the military right now who DID go to basic like myself and many others... or take a long time and save what they can to do this.

  • @1canparaman I don't mind that you spend your monies on this. But why reenact war? Glorifying it isn't right.

  • @1canparaman Just keep us informed if someone close to you dies.

We are a very professional group of cancer re-enactors who like to re-enact hospitalized cancer patients.

We act in groups of 15 to 22 men and woman and we have real hospital beds and uniforms.

Save up and get to be a surgeon "who loses his patient!" Including uniform and dead people!!!

  • @stahlwerke thanks tough guy. reminds me of a quote, arguing on the internet is like running in the special Olympics, even if you win your still retarded. Feel free to stop by and make an ass out of your self at any time.

  • Many families of those soldier are able to see their face better thanks to your video editing

  • I landed with F company, 5th rangers this past year. 29th ID did an excellent job!

  • @ronaldweasleyfan55 unfortunately i couldn't make conneaut d-day for the past 2 years. I will this year though. For the past 2 ive been stuck in South Korea doing the whole guarding the south from the North with the army thing. Hope it will be awesome as it always was.

  • Thanks for saying that you did not make this video, thank you for being honest.

  • @turboknight525 got to give credit where it is due.

  • man bein in the 29th ive met the bedford boys who actually ran that beach just before we deployed to iraq, and we went over to normandy with them one year and walked the same beach and 60 years later. those old grizzled veterans still cried. 3/116TH HOOAH

  • what are the black things infront of them? the bag things

  • @tennieltuason The black bags hanging off of their chests? Gas masks.

  • Jesus Christ, why are 90 percent of reenactors fat asses? no offence but damn, these guys wouldnt have passed the physicial

  • @Foley03A4 My guess is they are too busy working long hours, sitting in a cubicle, eating the wrong kinds of food, so that they can put money aside for their kids college AND their own retirement AND have enough left over to buy all the expensive shit that they don't want their wives to know they are buying instead of buying them jewelry. Or maybe they're just a bunch of wannabe sissy fat fucks that didn't want to be seen naked in the shower room so they skipped boot camp.

  • My uncle was a part of D-day that day. I love you Mikael!!

    CURRAHE

  • To violent to fully reenact

  • lol the last guy on the ground thats stuposed to be dead was breathing

  • @thebuttler456 well he's not going to stop breathing? Because he's not actually dead? Dumb ass...

  • is this in Conneaut, Ohio?

  • Ah, 5:19. Love that M1 "cleeing!"

  • How did you acquire all those vintage uniforms and equipment???

  • cool saving private ryan sound effects

  • 19 kids from Bedford, VA. died in that invasion alone. The soldiers of the 29th in 44 were never as fat as these reenactors.

  • Is it a coincedence that this video was put on youtube in 9/11? Excuse my spelling.

  • good job. music goes with thevid perfectly!

  • My grandfather was drafted at the age of 17 and he was 19 when he landed on Dog Green Sector Omaha Beach. His name was Pfc Edward Johnson of the 29th infantry division and he survived WW2.

  • Very well done!

  • Wow. This is better quality than some indie WW2 films I've seen. Way to go.

  • What do you shoot, out of your gun?

  • @a2hunts its called blanks.

  • 29th infantry RULES!

  • I don't see anyone calling hits

  • @WarEvents it begins with the Band of Brothers soundtrack

  • i have a m1 garand but how much money are we talking about here

  • @MrSteelers1994 probably $400 to $600. because of the footwear, helmet, cap, pack, shovel, canteen, cartrige belt m1941 field jacket,m1941 field trousers, and of a couple of more things. it would make a big hole in your pocket for all of the stuff

  • saving private ryan sound track

  • excellent work!!! awesome video mates! greetings from México city.

  • r they using real guns

  • i wanna join them! this looks fun and historical

  • it would be cool to be in it but are you firing anything like bb pellets or are you just shooting nothing and just lying down?

  • @preciousssperson they are shooting blanks, they are shells loaded with powder but there is no bullet, so it makes a sound and re-chambers another round but doesn't shoot anything

  • my great uncle fought in this battle he lived served and lost a hand saving a soldier that was shot he died in this very battle but to save his family his counrty and the brave soldier who was wounded this was a awful battle R.I.P. Sgt. John Sousa

  • that was gay lol

  • wow...all i hear are the *ping* sounds from the M1s...

  • Lovely version of Requiem for a Soldier (BOB theme). This generation has a long way to go before we live up to these legends.

  • it's pretty good, but nobody, not even the greatest actors in the world, can reenact the true heroism and hell that occurred on any battle in history or that is happening presently. because in real life, soldiers aren't fighting as a fun hobby, they are fighting for there lives with the fear of knowing so in every second of war. i can't wait till i get on the field for the greatest country on earth and a better tommorrow.

  • nice job using the band of brothers music. it adds awesome affect to the video. nice job

  • when does the next reactment coming

  • Not hateing or anything, but for a division that wasn't given assault vest's for the invasion we sure are seing plenty of them here . Just saying is all .

  • "Those Germans are the best damned soldiers I ever saw. They're smart and they don't know what 'fear' means. They come in and they keep coming until they get their job done or you kill 'em." U.S. Commander 29th Infantry Division

  • I was wondering what the song was, I was like wtf is "Winters on Subway", and then I remembered the subway scene....

  • askin' does america used smoke screen by that moment at omaha beach..?

    as shield...to minimize casualties...

  • saving private ryan noises?

  • fuck

    its awesom

  • good re enactment but a lot like others why arent there anyone shouting squad commands, or relaying the orders down the line? you can barely hear some in the distance....

  • their should have been guys dragging guys, much more realistic then

  • my grandad died in d day

  • I wonder if in hundreds or thousands of years from now, future generations will find all the gun shells (yes, blanks still pop out shells) etc. from these reenactment sites and think a battle took place there. How would they know any better, we are "pretty sure" where ancient battles took place because of high deposits of swords and weapons there, but what if ancient people were just doing a reenactment? Haha, idk, weird thing to think of I suppose. These reenactments do look fun though!

  • good point.

  • The shells for Blanks look quite a bit different than actual spent rounds nowadays.

  • yeah, did you hear about the rusians handing over hitlers skull to the usa fbi. yeah well acording to the fbi the skull was female, weird.

  • for every body that served or that died for freedom we are proud of you!!

  • Band of Brothers music, good choice.

  • hey the5kyki11er91 i run a world re-enactment group wanna join just ask

  • where was this filmmed at?

  • somebody please explain what are these type of reinactment? like airsoft guns or something or just for fun kinda like dress up as army men and play thing XD

  • I belive they fire blanks. What happens is: Its well planned out, they get all theyre gear they will need, distrubte MREs and go for it, i havent ever been though, so dont rely on my response :P

  • seriously?!? they by the things off of websites for £1000's of pounds for theese sorta things

  • no blank guns there like real guns just dont shoot bullets!

  • they shoot blanks. they're bullets without the tip on it, but it still makes the sound

  • yup

  • pretty much, but they're real guns, but they put blanks in for the bullets

  • it looks very fun to do

  • I reenact this every year and have a great time ! Can't wait just a couple more weeks =]

  • 3:32 what are those glasses, LMAO. =DDD

  • do blanks hurt?

  • no nothing comes out of blanks the shell just comes out after you fire nothing=)

  • how do you know if your hit

  • they assign you to be hit.

  • no,you judge on weather you die or not

  • they don't even touch you... it just makes the gun look like its firing a live round

  • I must say, that was probably one of the best Dday landing reenactments ive seen, and great camera work!

  • how old do you have to be to in d-day renactment

  • Usualy its about 18 and up becuase you have to be 18 to carry a weapon and fire it in a reenactment. HOWEVER sometimes you find some people who bend that rule. Usualy if you have enough time and money to put together a good impression the people who put on the events will just let you go. This event is in Ohio and its actualy coming up. I will be there again. Last time till im in the real Army.

  • hey hoy do you get in reenactments for ww2

  • @1canparaman My school's history class takes us to civil war renactments and we're only 14.

  • @1canparaman good luck man.

  • @1canparaman Sorry to sound rude my friend but i am only a Fourteen year old boy and i am in the Seccond battle group (SBG) German Waffen SS World war II Battle reenactment and i am legally allowed to carry and fire a blank fire weapon.

  • Yeah, I'm only 17 and in the 29th. The gear is expensive, but it's really worth it. The basic infantry uniform and gear will probably run you about $500 or more. And then you have to buy a rifle. :)

The 29th is all about authenticity. We do training and drilling often. If all you want to do is shoot blanks, join a different group. :)

  • i found a reanactment group where you can be 16

  • Great group.. great video.. thanks to exist..

  • cool

  • Great video, some really dedicated people there and a great cameraman.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • is this group in britain??

  • no this group is in USA. the Event took place in Conneaut, Ohio USA

  • This group does have people in britian, however these men are all american and this event is in Ohio. the European branch of our unit goes to Normandy every June 6th.

  • @1canparaman is it the event in conneaut?

  • @1canparaman You guys are from ohio?

  • what bullets were those?

  • Those are blanks.....caliber is between .45 for pistol and thompson and .30 for the m1 carbine and 30-06 for m1 garand. Along with the 1903a3

  • Where do you get your gear?

I am looking for some gear to make a real WWII movie trailer, but dont know where to get the clothing, and other accessories. can you tell me?

  • Your best chance would be to find a cheap army surplus. I am building up slowly, because I hardly have a budget. lol

  • Where could i gwt gear for re-enacting?

  • WOW ! you guy's realy took your time getting down and off of that ramp . I'm a german reenactor but I ait afraid to run alittle . GI's are alway's afraid getting their equipment dirty , the more filthy it look's the better guy's !

  • No... The problem was the US NAVY didnt want us to run off and some guy fall off the slippery ramp and go in the water and then drown orrrr get crushed if the boat was hit by a wave and the boat went forward. We had NO control over that what so ever, When on ship the NAVY was in control. Once at this event we were up to our stomachs in water becauase the boat couldnt get up the beach.

  • @Herbymac0811 these people are re enacting a real battle so if they ran straight up in the enemys faces it would be fake because in the real battle your likely to get shot so only stoned people or rambo would charge at them, and also it would be over to quick if they ran

  • @NattyGcomedy I'm not hateing on anyone friend . I'm also a MARINE so I know about moveing fast . If your in a kill zone ''like a beach'' you get out of and off of it as fast as you can . I know reenactments have to move a little slower for a good show but in real combat speed is life !

  • This video really makes me want to start reenacting!!!

  • um what fire did u use? like.... blank rounds or paintball?

  • why were airborne troops in an LCVP?

  • there werent. I was there and those guys are really strict on the uniforms and people who go in.

  • I was thinking the same some of the guys where airborn men but not in a plane...

  • This is incredible. As far as quality of filming and composure, it's quite possibly the best video I have seen from a reenactment.

Do you have any idea what brand and model of video camera he used?

  • Uniforms can be had at many places, for instance i bought from Ebay, What Price Glory, At the front militaria and so forth. Weapons on the other hand have to be found at gun shows and places like that

  • If anyone has further interest in the hobby and is looking to buy from these websites now, dont. First find a unit so you dont waste time and money. Search in your area for these groups and if you need help, please message me any time. Cheers

  • k thnx

  • Excuse me but what kinda rounds are you firing? I am sure they are blanks but they look too real.

  • They are blanks, just a tip to anyone who is stupid here (i hope none) dont ever take ANY FORM of live round to a reenactment! lol!

  • Why of course you shouldn't bring a live round but you never know what kind of rounds you are using because those rounds look pretty authentic. By the way great video!

  • were is it man

  • This was filmed at the national D-DAY memorial in Bedford Virginia and the actual landing was filmed in Conneaut Ohio

  • hey im 11 and i wanna join a reenactment but i dont kno were to buy teh unifrom and helmet and stuff can u help me

  • i went
