@MegaFallout2012 There is an already existing threat: The United States of America, the most warlike country in the post cold war era. Reagan believed in peace through strength. I agree with that on a fundamental level. Bullies prey on the weak not the strong, so I believe in maintaining the strongest defense.
But I don't believe in peace through perpetual war which is our current policy. Reagan is turning over in his grave.
@MegaFallout2012 you have no idea how much power the west and select other superpowers have over the rest of the world. so many things prevent catastrophes like this. iran is NOTHING compared to the ussr or usa and look how they prevented each other from destroying the planet during a 45 year cold war
@scatteredmist The Tridents were clearly headed west while they passed the enemy warheads in mid-flight headed east, i.e., the were NOT launched against America. Try giving the conspiracy theories a day off once in awhile and not seeing everything in the world as a conspiracy. Mmmk? The world is run, and will be destroyed as well, by a bunch of greedy, incompetent fools that don't know what buttons to push. And that is not a conspiracy. That's just a plain simple fact.
@scatteredmist The range of a Trident 2 SLBM is a bit under 5000 miles so yes they can be launched right off the California coast and hit many targets in Russia, China and maybe Pakistan. Of course in the middle of a war against Iran you might wonder why a sub wouldn't be deployed closer due to the pre-emptive capabilities of SLBMs. But its a minor flaw in a fairly well done video. It is a cool touch though: A paradise's eye view of the launch.
Boomers, unlike attack subs, often lurk closer to home shores.
There's no need to subject them to potential enemy's hunter killers.
A foreign strategic missile sub close to own territorial waters is a political move, and less a strategic one. For it is most likely being traced and tacked, and is very vulnerable, and will be destroyed the moment it goes into launch sequence.
@RmanDC The advantage I was speaking of was pre-emptive. By being close to the target it decreases flight time and maximizes the pre-emptive capabilities of you weapons by reducing flight time from 30 minutes to a couple minutes. No doubt VERY risky to be in enemy waters but if you're trying to pre-empt a dissident nuclear launch it could be a necessity.
But I am not a military strategist nor do I claim to be. You make some good points. Boomers? Attack subs? Greek to me 8^)
@RmanDC Thinking about it I would imagine a "boomer" is extremely vulnerable in launch mode. You probably have to run slow and shallow and any hopes of running silent are gone. A slow loud bullseye for any "hunter killer."
Moral of the story? Always secure your surfboard prior to hitting the road! But seriously, I like this video. It is technically sound for the most part, right down to the Trident II deploying only a single warhead in compliance with the START II treaty. That tells me somebody has done their research. The only thing I would question is the Ohio Class subs location off the coast off California.
there ARE so many flaws...nucs would be deep and close to launch point...land base nucs would be used first all military would already be deployed subs are based for a SECOND STRIKE capability if land based are gone,,and who would iran have as allies?...if we're gonna hit iran need tons of back up oil ready to smooth over supply disruptions for a year...best case scenrio is several religious nuts with portable weapons striking selective targets..washington dc etc
So many flaws. Iran has no capabilites to launch anywhere near the us. Nor could an iranian sub get into us waters undetected. As for a scaled invasion of 2 countries by iran, one being occupied by isaf and nato forces highly unlikely. Nukes being used in a conflict with iran, nah.
@RmanDC they wont have the delivery systems on the un's watch just wait and see. You cant just move a hostile sub into highly secure coastal waters especially in a time of escalation like that wouldve been. Nukes have never been for usage, jsut as a tool for negotiations
@RmanDC Dead on the money? You mean just dead. We are in 2011 and there is no $7 gas and mass protest...in the united states. Completely flawed. Just an animation of someones opinions. Please tell me how this is spot on? Your just spreading your opinions. Stop the mongering.
@RmanDC so the hole world is f*cked because of the united states and iran...i live in california and thats a state with a big population and i just know it there gonna hit there first
@RmanDC Eh, regarding Iran having either the weapons or the launch capability. Might have the weapons soon, though who knows how efficient or powerful they will be. Launch capability is a whole other story. An ICBM is not a firecracker. You don't just like the fuse and watch it go. Anyways, I wouldn't blame Iran for wanting a nuclear deterrent, considering the US has become increasingly belligerent towards it.
@Storm7289 Not to mention they'd have to get through Iraq to invade Israel. That means getting through US ground and air force stationed in the Gulf and Israel's military forces as well. Both forces are vastly superior to the Iranians in both quality of men and quality of equipment.
Feel sorry for the old man with the pacemaker at 6.31 killed by the emp burst, at least he didn't get fried by the nuke, but was lucky enough to be killed and not survive the agony of fallout and radiation sickness, tumors, bleeding from every orifice, bllod in his stool, burns and eventually a prolonged agonising death due to radiation sickness and the freezing in the nuclear winter, so he was probably lucky his ticker gave way. I DONT want survive the of a aftermath nuclear war,If it happens
@RmanDC Sure as long as it stays fantasy. I seriously hope you don't believe that a nuclear holocaust would be "fun" especially the succeeding events/
@locolalo1364 He was talking about the Fallout series of games, and if you haven't played any of them you need to seriously reexamine your life choices, it is (with one exception) one of the best game series out there.
Why do things like this have to be made? Huh? Why? Because then people like me who are curious about these kinds of things will watch them, and then spend the next two or three hours twitching cause I've been creeped out to the max! lol!!!
Seriously, it's clear you put a lot of time and effort into it. Good work!
All props go Mr Robbie Robertson of the fallenangelseries com. The second episode is unlikely to come out before the war though :(
And yes, good work indeed. The only film work that produced a similar impression on me was the movie Crimson Tide... except that one had a 55mil budget.
How would I spend my last 30 mins? well, I would go and buy a whole bunch of things, call my friends over, Then we party untill one of us sees a nuke falling, then we go hide in the bathroom downstairs. P.S. ,PWNED at 5:09
Fuck you. I'm living now. I'm not some fucking dumbshit that needs a natural disaster or some life altering or limiting fucking event to happen before I do what I want to do.
If i had 30 minutes i would have sex with my gf and build a trench and steal food and ammo and also i would put those steal plates u use to protect windows from huricanes over the trench.
countinuing my comment because youtube has comment errors, put the hurricane shuters ontop of trench and wait for hell 2 break loose.and Great animation and story!
@CrazedNovaProduction -- You're gonna do all that in 30 minutes?? Mm, hm...riiiiight.
I have to assume you're being facetious You mean you seriously think that in half an hour -- provided you actually had that long! -- you would actually be able to dig a trench large enough for yourself and your girlfriend to stay in for at least two weeks (long enough for the radiation from fallout to diminish to safe levels) *and* stock up enough food, water, and ammo for two weeks?
@OreadNYC listen, I typed this comment a year and a few months ago. If that would happen, the soil would be iradiated from the fallout and I would get radiation sickness and die. I was younger at the time. But there's no underground bomb shelters in FL and barely anything underground since Florida is only 8ft above sea level. So, the only way for me to survive is to hope to God that the winds do not spread the fallout in my direction. I would have to flee to the everglades to survive.
@tomken8dy -- What else can you do? Not a lot...in fact, if movies like "Threads" and "The War Game" (which make "The Day After" look positively tame by comparison) are even remotely accurate, there probably isn't a lot you'd *want* to do since it seems likely that the people who died in the initial blasts (from the fireball, the shockwave, or the radiation) would be the fortunate ones.
This looks like one of the animated cartoons on the I Am Legend DVD.

Rubbish, Iran's nukes have nowhere near the range nor the power to destroy the USA. They might be able to blow up Israel, but not destroy the world.
Besides, why on earth would terrorist activities with their roots in Saudi Arabia lead to an invasion of Iran?
