Yes it was a sebaceous cyst/epidermoid cyst - a pore of the skin filled with sebum and epithelial debris but it's not an infection. Infection's when it's been invaded by bacteria, usually staph. aureus because it lives on most people's skin and only becomes a problem when it gets through a break in the skin. The only treatment is excision, which is what they did, unfortunately not under sterile conditions.
