Nice pictures. I like the style of the long natural hair with the flower in the side. I once met a beautiful Ni Vanuatu girl who had this same style. She said it was Tahitian style. As a white Australian guy I would just like to say that I believe & hope that in the future the colour of someones skin wont even be an issue. We were all born beautiful in our body, head & heart.

This is a very well thought video. We need more young women to recognize and be thankful for their ancestry. I enjoyed the song too. Not too many people I know who listens to India Arie. Keep up the good work. Although I personaly think humans in general are amazing (but can be just as ugly), of all races. I come from a African/Native American back ground, with no Pacific Islander roots that I am aware of, but I have always admired them. Thanks for the video.

no braids were done by africans...we did the braids that are connected to they head.."corn rolls"...our hair was hard to work with so we tryed to figure out hairstyles that would last in the sun..then when they came over to africa they saw our hairstyles and made it popular around the world and they called it french braids...braids descended from AFRICA not from white people..
