not true, you cant teach yourself techniques, youll get bad habits, it will take for ever and i dont understand why anyone would consider teaching themself when they have no idea where to start unless they cantafford a teacher.

But it's not all about technique, it's about how it sounds. Does it matter if its not the 'normal' technique if it works for them? Brian May himself is a self taught guitarist. I think a guitarist should spend more time on finding his tone and playing something that sounds musical. They need to learn to listen to music, and use their ears and fingers to feel it out on the guitar.. their personal technique will come naturally.

That is the best way, It might just take a little longer. Keep at it. If you get lessons, youll just end up becoming a copy of your teacher. If you teach yourself, youll learn to play in your own way.

With open strings, you can get the harms by gently touching the strings on the 5th, 7th or 12th fret with your left hand and playing them with your right hand, but you can do both touching and playing with the right hand(using index finger for touching and ring finger for playing). Also, when you are pressing the 1st fret,for instance, the harmonics are now on the 6th, 8th and 13th frets. At 4:32,he is pressing the strings on 2nd fret(w/left hand),and playing the harms on 14th fret(w/right hand)
