I guess we'll never play Ys IV and V in English ever on the PS2. I doubt a fan translation group will pick up those titles, as fans contend that they're questionable remakes from the SNES iterations. Perhaps because the remakes are regarded as budgeted upgrades.
I for one welcome the addition for IV that allowed you to have an attack button, but the original is fine, as it's set before Ys III, as all of the games set before that offer the old school bump mechanic, not counting Origins.
YS V was ported to PS2? Do want. I played the original SFC version to near the end of the game, pretty damn fun game, too bad it was only in Japanese =P
For some reason this one just doesn't seem to grab me like Oath and Ark though it seems to share a generally similar style to them. It looks a bit unpolished.
The music in these games is just great, if not the greatest in console gaming! I'm lucky to own the most critically acclaimed soundtracks of the series, Symphony Y's and Y's 95.
it would be nice if they finally gonna start making a game liek this online it would be realy great then the point and click getting boring and the 3d style to it more clone then normal different games basicly there all the same i whant more games like this same style with same combat system that would be realy cool wish i could be a good desinger and mmorpg maker then i would make a game just like that with same graph style
I've seen this game before. For me, this version have good music and playability, but the animations are not too good.
I hope someday Falcom make a remake of this game for PSVita and will be so better than this version...

That's because it's Taito's take on Falcom's game. And Taito doesn't really "get" Ys. (:

Ys was WAY ahead of its time, especially in the late 80s. Yuzo Koshiro did some of the music for 1&2 and it was fantastic.
