there isn't a readily available green laser diode, so in fact a much more powerful IR laser diode is used to pump a light generating Nd crystal, the generated light is then doubled in frequency using a KTP frequency doubler crystal, resulting in green light (532 nm)at about half the power of the original IR laser. But hey, you can actually see it ;)

it all depends on what type of lens you have infront of the diode if you dont have one at all then it may be a good idea!

i don't have a homemade laser, i have a Crossfire 125 mw classIIIb professional laser. along with the dangers of accidentally hitting a reflective surface back at your eye, i read that if you look at the laser hitting the surface of a white object, like a wall, it is the same as looking at the sun.

I wear my goggles, but it sucks cause you can't see the beam..

yes there is. green is a very high frequency light. The fore the photon and electrons also travel at that speed. Usually The circuit there are components that brings the frequency down to bare minimum just so that its green.

there is no such thing as 1.5v laser pen but you can buy a laser pointer from samsung that is 50mw and is about £60 that is a exellent laser pointer thankz!

I have a 200mw laser I just bought relatively cheap from techlasers. Hope my diode doesn't burn out because my meter reads that it's putting out power up to 300mw.

DPSS laser output spikes on power up and generally settles down to around it's rated power level as the temperature and input voltage stabilize. This can take 5-15 minutes. That's one of the pitfalls of purchasing from less than honest ebay sellers. They will often quote the peak output instead of the rated, nominal output so it looks like you are getting a great deal.

well that is 6 watts.. i think that the diode would just burn out because this diode can handle at most 50 mw when you have modified it and then it would last for about few hours.
