Why is it that when a dodge dually wins, all you ford guys say that dually get more traction, but when a ford dually loses you say dually have less ground pressure per tire and get less traction?

There is a max traction coeficient. For one, Ford is on mud tires, cutting the traction on dry pavement down considerably. If both were single rear wheel vehicles, and both had about the same traction, then it would just be the smarter driver. This is by no means an acurate way of finding the better truck. It comes down to traction and driver skill.
All I'm sayin is that it's not like the Dodge has twice the traction and such a huge advantage as it is being made to sound like here. Sure the Dodge has more total traction overall, but each of those 4 rear tires has less traction than each of the Fords 2 rears. Dodge has more overall, but Ford's 2 has more than any 2 of the Dodge's rears without as much weight on each separate tire. Duallys are only meant for trailer stabilization. If you think it has better "Traction" you are wrong. Many dually owners complain of the horrible traction they get in the snow/ice.
The advantage portrayed is the duallys have more weight due to bigger axle and more tires.
But for all you city people who think you suddenly have more traction, I want you to know that all the weight is on the two inner most tires. The outer tires could runover my foot and I wouldn't whine about it.

Second while the drw will give you a slight increase in traction you will need even more weight for the added area of traction.
Third as soon as your rear end burys itself you wont have enough traction up front to save you.
it'd be interesting to see a suv vs a pickup, like a range rover vs a dodge ram or something, but i'm sure pickups would do alot better if they had more weight at the back,,,,nice trucks

Well the Ford is the 'ol 5.4L and the Dodge is a diesel. Not an equal comparison. I worked for Ford AND GM and in my honest opinion Ford builds the best truck, hands down. Period. Cummins is a great diesel. Not the most power, but it will run forever. New 6.8L Ford-built diesel (2010 or 11) should be a monster.
Marketing and reputation... But if you look at Chevy and GMC, you know that they are selling the same trucks with a different badge. If you combine those, you will see that they have been outselling Ford and Dodge.
Still, Dodge is a far better truck in terms of the motor and exterior design.
just to let you know chevy used to be a branch of GMC so of course they gonna use same designs all maufactors do that with there cars/ truck like old monte carlos and Buick regals are EXACTLY the same except fenders are different
For the longest time (not sure on the newer ones) Fords sold well as they were the most inexpensive of the 3, however as we have had all 3 in or fleet I would say the F150 was the most gutless the Chev wasn't much better, but now we run Ram's wich outpull the other 2 hands down

And I hate to to say it but a dodge and a chevy 1 ton diesel is faster than a ford. 0-40 unloaded- chevy 5.20, dodge 5.21, ford 6.74/ 0-40 loaded- dodge 13.52, ford 14.84, chevy 14.99/ 0-60 unloaded- chevy 10.14, dodge 10.39, ford 12.26/ 0-60 loaded- dodge 38.43, ford 38.67, chevy 47.21/ 50-70 unloaded- chevy 6.19, dodge 6.29, ford 6.61. As you can see ford wasn't in first once. I got all this from Petersen's 4wheel & off-road May 08 mag.

For the longest time (not sure on the newer ones) Fords sold well as they were the most inexpensive of the 3, however as we have had all 3 in or fleet I would say the F150 was the most gutless the Chev wasn't much better, but now we run Ram's wich outpull the other 2 hands down

So, jimboblom, your about to buy a ford? Here is a little FYI, Ford power "at the rear wheels"- 277hp, 501tq, max tow capacity 15K. Dodge power - 283hp, 503tq, max tow capacity 16,032. Hmmm, seems to me a dodge has more power and can tow more. And if you don't belive me, i got all the from Ford's and Dodges web site. P.S. go ahead internet tough guy, tell me your going to kick may ass or something, because you know I'm right. Also, jayweber23 has a good point.

Well, this is the first time I havn't been told that. And I hate to to say it but a dodge and a chevy 1 ton diesel is faster than a ford. 0-40 unloaded- chevy 5.20, dodge 5.21, ford 6.74/ 0-40 loaded- dodge 13.52, ford 14.84, chevy 14.99/ 0-60 unloaded- chevy 10.14, dodge 10.39, ford 12.26/ 0-60 loaded- dodge 38.43, ford 38.67, chevy 47.21/ 50-70 unloaded- chevy 6.19, dodge 6.29, ford 6.61. As you can see ford wasn't in first once. I got all this from Petersen's 4wheel & off-road May 08 mag.

I have a Ford F250 with a 7.3 diesil engine in it and I have pulled 16,000 pounds down a muddy field after 6 inches of rain. Lets see a dodge do that. And Dodge is not worthy of cummins they never started selling products until 2005 cummins is just for a bunch of girls who cant take a real freekin engine

have you ever notice that dodge uses cummins a normally on highway engine...uk y??? b/c chevy and ford weren't worthy of having cummins slapped on the side of their trucks. and that power choke didn't do shit it's still got the same engine as their dually. 350/650. and the dodge is the same way. and a dodge'll pull a cat out of a ditch. chevy and ford can't do that so shut the fuck up and don't dog a dodge.
