hi everyone im engineer and i love cars i ve driven lots of cars and i have a doubt about ford fiesta and vw polo i personally think that polo is slightly better then fiesta
"they prefer the VW brand? They must love to spend money on expensive, stupid repairs" <- Typical no brainer with last years opinion VW and can't think outside his box. IF YOU SOURCE VW PARTS OUTSIDE OF THE DEALER THEY ARE AS CHEAP IF NOT CHEAPER THEN FORD PARTS. Cheaper vendors make parts for VW same as Ford its just that VW use more Bosch parts whereas Ford uses cheaper Delphi parts/similar which make dealer repairs seem cheaper. I should know as I always service Audi's/Seats/VW's.
@willowwood666 He probably did... I always enjoyed driving these VW Polo's. They feel like a substantial car compared to a Fiesta and it feels like you are in a car driving a car not driving this big version of a plastic dodgem car from a fair ground. Fiestas just feel like a big toy car with no satisfying steering feel whatsoever. They feel like cars you can easily get fed up of within a week whereas a Polo feels like a car for life. Polo FTW

the presenter is a toss pot because he knows better than the public yeh ok if you wanted somthing small and exiting go and but a hot hatch ! the fiesta isnt nice looking anyhow the vw came out on top cause they build better cars
@smegintheheed If you have ever driven a new Fiesta they feel horrid. I used to drive them all the time they feel like a big road toy there is just no satisfying car feel to them at all. The steering sharpness is OTT and has no weight or secure driving feel, the suspension is horrid and crashy, the interiors scheap, bland, tacky and rattly along with the stereo quality and the clattery doors sound like they will fall off when you shut them. Honestly new Polo's are a lot better then these.
@1ns4ne1d10t LOL what did you you expect for £10,000 a F1 car lol she does 0-60 in 6.7 lololololol and with grandmas shopping in the back not counting the baby seat she still does 0-60 in 6.8 HA HA HA
@Pyromaceno1 I don't even know why you are laughing, its much less embarassing - a much faster car on a smaller engine. If I had a 'Hot hatch' Fiesta swathed in spoilers and bodykit I would be very embarassed by the fact that the feeble 1.6 litre engine is putting out 132Bhp (At best) and is only acheieving a 0-60 time of 8.4 seconds. Not very impressive when you are trying to show off to all your friends in the back because you have a point to prove about the speed. Speed what speed? Lol
@Pyromaceno1 Polo 2011 1.2 TDI (73 PS) Bluemotion (80 MPG) 91g/KM, Fiesta 1.6 TDCi (93/88 PS) 'Econetic' (76 MPG) 98g/KM - I think your Polo information is a little outdated.
@Pyromaceno1 What you have to understand is that the actual MPG and what fords MPG are two different kettles of fish. Ford are known for over-exaggeration so don't place your bets on getting 76 miles to the gallon out of every Fiesta that leaves Dagenham because those Ford ventures with those rubbish HDI French diesel engines don't promise what they deliver. You believe far too much of what you read, besides the TDCi's are totally unreliable and have dodgey mapping on the ECU's. Don't trust them
@1ns4ne1d10t LOL you wouldn't see me dead revving up any car that's in a £10,000 price range, the fiesta or the polo LOLOLOL your funny XD jokes HA HA unless you've got to race to pick your nan up from bingo or pick the little ones up from school now this sir is where your 0-60 in 6.7 comes in handy LOLOLOL XD
@Pyromaceno1 It also comes in handy when you get some pratt in a Fiesta Zetec S who is convinced his bodykit and spoiler (on his top of the range Fiesta) makes it faster then a 1.4 TSI Polo. Most Fiesta drivers have always got to scream around in a 30 zone (On the local chav estate) with their foot to the floor in the high revs to make it seem really fast because they know it isn't. They have to keep driving fast in the hope the spoilers will kick into action and make it faster - they don't.
I've been reading all this anti-Polo rubbish from Ford drivers who own a Fiesta. Its not just about the interior plastic that defines the quality in a Polo. The Germans think of little things that matter, an extra seat height adjuster, gas piston under the bonnet, low rolling road noise, low cabin noise from engine intrusion, tightly closed panel gaps, rust resistant bodies. Why don't you get your heads out of your arse, visit a VW showroom and drive one. Are you scared you might like it?
i see the polo looks better stronger and more manly then the fiesta that kind of looks like what they thought flying cars would be in the 60s. i don't like the cheap hybrid look about the fiesta and the inside looks plastic and i hear the Sony audio system upgrade is a must if your aren't deaf.
as for the polos new design it looks like a sharper brother edition of the mini combined with the vw badge nicest looking super mini.
@SuperTubeLord Well.... i don't believe the polo's interior is made with carbon fiber, u pay for what u get, and u r wrong with the sound audio system in the fiesta, there's no upgrade needed for a normal human, becoz I have one. But still~ I am thinking of getting the polo for my wife, becoz she loves mini and I reckon the best looking part of this car... is the badge....
What shite. Goto love those metrics "dull"..."exciting".... for useful objects?! Everyone thinks they're Shakespeare-dickens these days bending language at whim!
Let's pretend for an instant that those are valid descriptions, how on earth are they appropriate criteria to decide between two low-end commuter vehicles? This shows the clear flaws in consumer capitalism when the proletariat is brainwashed. I'ts not surprising companies spend more on 'branding' than manufacture.
How the hell are VW better built LOL VW are superb but Ford (in this gen of cars) well GOD HELP VW. You could park a FORD Mondeo Titanium 2011 next to a BMW or merc arround £25,000 more than the FORD and you would be hard pressed to compare build and I saw a golf for £28,000 in showroom nice but when you put it up to a 305hp 2012 Mustang for £30,000 now It's upsetting to so how stupid really are! VW is a brand like kia, ford, vauxhall, renult ect nothing special in build its 2011, nuff said...
@Pyromaceno1 I sort of agree, they're peoples irrational perceptions and should be ignored. People need to wake up, the peter-pan economy of pre-sept-2008 is over. Your house is not worth 700K. Brand X does not cost 2x Y for rational reasons. We can't avoid work and 'flip' houses and we can't all live of 'investments'.
Widgets should be judged & weighted individually, to not do so is invalidate all advantage of a market.
I disagree with the Mustang tho. That is a stupid American piece of shit.
@Pyromaceno1 Hard pressed? Get a pair of glasses and you might see huge panel gaps in a Ford compared to a German car. It is very noticable, nothing squares up and none of the panels fit right. Fords of today remind me of old British Leyland cars where you could stick your hand through the gaps in the bodywork. Its not just the build quality, Volkswagens are also considerably quieter inside with better sound proofing measures so the quality is not all about the interior plastic. Drive one.
@1ns4ne1d10t With my personal experience on 2008 polo the sound profing is far from ideal. the polo is great and Fords build is just fine says my dads 2001 mondeo with 175,000 miles on her and still starts on the button, you don't need to convince me about German engineering which is some of the best in the world! go and take a look on the UK roads and count how many fords go past New & 10 years+, maybe you need glasses O-O~ Ford is Very hard to beat for the money and are doing very well ;-)
@Pyromaceno1 I am not trying to convince you, Ford are more expensive then German cars these days, it has been proven and Ford have been officially named and shamed for it. It is now cheaper for you to buy a BMW or an Audi equivalent then it is to buy a Ford. The Polo is a cheaper car then a Fiesta along with everything else so you can buy better for less. I am not trying to be a badge snob, I cannot justify how Ford can outprice the Germans on cars and they will never be as good.
@1ns4ne1d10t LOL your sir are a nut job XD LOL Fords the same price as a Merc and BMW well good luck to you on that and buying parts or insurance for that matter XD my advice to you sir is DON'T BUY A FORD, to each their own Not everyone runs by your likes/dislikes. When I was a kid and still am then cars that was there for me being lower middle class at the time was vauxhall, Renault, Ford If we had not had these brands with the low income we would be taking the shoelace express. god bless FORD
@Pyromaceno1 Expensive parts and insurance? What kind of spanner-brain are you? You clearly know nothing about parts and insurance as you have never owned German. You can buy cheap parts off Ebay/Amazon for ANY car, its the quality of the parts you put in it. German cars will take any cheap parts and servicing if you source them outside the box. You can easily run a German car as a runaround on a low income you plank they leave you no reason to buy a Ford, god bless Ebay and internet.
@Pyromaceno1 Once upon a time (10 years ago) there was a valid reason to own a Ford because the parts and servicing were cheap. However times have moved on and this is 2011 the ever growing competitive market for cheaper components for German cars and the like are making them as affordable to own as your average Ford. The insurance group for a run-of-the-mill Audi is exactly the same as your average run-of-the-mill Ford. You just carry on buying Fords and French because I'm happy with German.
@1ns4ne1d10t and Just in case you had a bit of trouble on your car knowledge (German) Mercedes, BMW or Audi do NOT build for the real world market as Superb as they are. Some people can't afford 35,000 - 45,000 cars so maybe it might become clear one day why FORD will still be going strong long after you pass. You think you have problems with loads of fords about in the UK? Try one of the world biggest markets the USA for size XD have a nice day :)
@Pyromaceno1 Thats funny because the Germans are cheaper cars to buy then the equivalent Fords so Ford have less of an excuse to be rubbish, and that leaves the Germans more of an excuse to be less superb. Like you say some people cannot afford 35,000 - 45,000 but if Ford released an Audi S4/BMW M3 equivalent in a Ford Mondeo that would be priced at 50,000+ its just that they don't do that sort of Ford range so it makes it seem cheap but if they did it would be way more expensive the any Audi.
That reviewer looks like the car buyer one, and he is a Ford fanboy. I hate the new Fiesta, the interior is ugly and the buttons feel like they have came off a 1990s HI-FI system, the indicators feel like they will snap off, the outside is OK if it has big alloys but otherwise it looks crap. The VW isn't the most exciting looking car ever, but everything feels chunky and well built, the badge is allot more desirable as well.
@hamster639 Unless your car is actually a Maserati Quattroporte or a Bugatti Veyron then no one is going to look twice at you driving around in a mass produced Ford Fiesta now are they? Especially as this car is now available in the U.S and Austrailia it takes away more of the exclusivity which makes it MORE vomituously common. So if you are going to buy an everyday supermini for yourself which has MORE exclusivity then you might aswell make it the good one - the VW Polo. Enough said.
"Polo is grown up and dull" I worked for car rentals last year. The Polo's nippiness and light power/weight ratio is almost addictive to drive with your foot down to the floor. I loved Polo's they were great cars to drift and drive. The colourful paint, looks and style of a fiesta never made me feel like I was having fun. The CBS on them just doesn't allow you to drift, it sucks the fun out of driving. And Polos have the comfort and quality when you tone it all down a bit = Polo + Fiesta -
I just got my Polo. Polo is not dull at all. Polo has better interior and better air dynamics. Just the engine alone - beats Ford anytime! Fuel economy wise - Polo wins no matter what! AND, I loved the stares when I, an office lady.. beats all other cars on the road on the way to work everyday. A beautiful way to start my day!!!
@thoong1 You said it! The whole Fiesta thing with 'Fun' is a really stupid gimmick for retards with no imagination. Whats actually fun about it? Nothing. I used to work for a rental company driving Polos and Fiestas all day long and I never felt like I was enjoying myself in a Fiesta, not for one minute. I had to remind myself of what I was driving because I would forget. All small cars are fun to chuck around none of them are boring. T.V reviewers are just biased propaganda idiots.
The reviewer is spot on to be honest. I test drove both cars. The polo has a great interior but it's too clinical to drive. The fiesta is more fun to drive, just as comfortable, with comparable performance. The fiesta also has a more engaging steering experience. I just feel you get more value for money in the Fiesta.
/o\ 2:21 Gotta love what that woman says "I don't like color", people who say this, is like tell u "I know nothing about cars, I don't like the color that means the car is shit" what a typical woman
have a polo diesel, its been a nightmare. it has been back to the dealers more times than I can count. tractors have smoother engines and the dealers are not to great to deal with. I'm also only getting 40 mpg. rubbish car which I'm stuck with for a few years.
i own both cars - both my fiesta in 2009 and the polo in 2010 for my wife. We interchange cars often so i drive the polo almost just as much as the fiesta...I prefer the Fiesta for its looks, its comfort and its drivability. It is realy much more fun than the polo. The Polo on the other hand has a few more 'perks' than the Fiesta - for practically the same price. It has better storage and some better features. Still i prefer the Fiesta.
I just paid the deposit on a new vw polo today. In my opinion it is a MUCH better looking car, the front end looks a bit like a sirocco which is a massive bonus. Also the interior is much better and well though out, the seats are comfy and there is plenty of room for me (I'm a big lad at 6'5")
Best decision I've ever made was to switch from an old fiesta to a polo.
I chosen/ bought the Fiesta, I reckon it looks better than the polo inside out, especially the interior, the polo is simply too boring to look at, but the fiesta's design is unique. And there is something with this car that i can't really tell what it is.... is kinda like makes u feel alive and exciting even u r not driving fast.... but he polo just felt like a.... car... a typical boring car ... well for me anyway.
@alexutzu2115 haha... yea I know what a ka is. I can swear too that I don't care about power very much, for me handling and fuel efficiency r the most important, this car is pretty much perfect for me. And different cars is design for different purpose, if i want power I won't even look at this car... or the ka,
@cheukkikong I chosen/ bought the Polo, I reckon it looks better than the fiesta inside out, especially the interior, the fiesta is simply too boring to look at, but the polo's design is unique. The polo is not dull and boring idiot, and that wasn't even a GTI polo, plus you can get polo as a tax free car! the Polo has the most efficient engine on co2 emission of any car on the market in the UK right now. idiotic reviewer failed to mention that! £10 a pound congestion charge, polo blue motion is exempt. Fiesta fails on all those critical points
Boring Polo. Ford wins everytime. Excellent car new design and much more gadgets. Polo white yuk. Give me squeeze green ford anyday. Well done Ford. Great car.
What, seriously comparing the polo to the golf? I mean you get into the golf you get the whole Touch screen, bigger cabin and its a completely different feeling then moving onto the whole fiesta? LOL it's an aircraft without the whole take off button. Sorry but must say I wouldn't pick any and would go with the Seat Ibiza.
Although Ford have improved the Fiesta (they had to as the previous model was awful in many ways) the VW Polo still wins every time for me. If you have the finance, you would mad not to go for the Polo. Choosing a Ford or a Vauxhall/Opel over a VW would be like choosing Paris Hilton over Claudia Schiffer.
The Fiesta has had a complete face lift. My dad works for Ford, I think he would know that there aren't anymore chances of EAC failure. Europeans need to think outside their own brands of cars. Give Ford a chance. You'd be surprised how much the company has changed.. in a positive way. I wouldn't be caught dead in a Polo. It's name just gives me the image of an old many dressed in a polo playing golf. It just isn't hip or modern enough for this century.
To all the naive idiots who favour a Fiesta: I have one word - EAC fault. Ford still havnt cleared it up and its the reason why Fiestas still remain to be deathtraps. If you want to live longer buy yourself a bloody Polo.
The fiesta is a beauty! Ive driven it looking to buy it tooo! The styling exterior and interior are superb and the economy much btr for othr cars i considered buying!
This car handles Great, definatly improvement from old models!!
Ford has been importing and selling the new fiesta in Brazil from Mexico with manual air conditioning and manual gearbox, without fog lights, without ABS and Airbag... Guess how much is the bargain?! USD 28.000,00 It's an absurd! Selling one car in Brazil they make profit of selling three cars in Europe! Disgusting!
C'mon, altough i think the Polo is dull, i still accept that both these cars are great.
1ns4ne1d10t is just a troll who has nothing better to do, than go onto every Ford-video there is, and talk poop about them. Crap cars generally dont sell well, and good cars do. Thats why shit like the Citroen C2 and the Chevy Aveo dont sell, and the great superminis (Fiesta, Polo, Mazda 2) do.
@Nakke144 In Wolfsburg VW store their brand new cars in 2 huge towers and automatic robots move your car around. They do this so that the car is delivered with Zero miles on it and the robots wont damage it. And VW also have thier own theme park. Does Ford have any of these marvellous wonders? No they dont. The only thing Ford do when you buy a fiesta is spit at you.
@1ns4ne1d10t Oh, the troll is back. And this comment shows you how little you know about anything, once again. They never have zero miles on them, since they have to be taken around a test course, to see everything is working. And imported cars have more on them, since they have to be driven on and off lorries. And what does some theme park has to do w/ anything? Nothing. Jeez you are one deluded moron.
@Nakke144 I wish what I said about VW in Wolfsburg was a load of bullshit but as it turns out its actually true. watch "how do they do it" season 3/episode 3/part 3. Its only Ford who add milage with thorough factory testing because they are turds and they fall to bits. VW are self-assured and they build cars to a good standard so they don't need testing. Awww bless Ford, they will get there eventually!
@1ns4ne1d10t Deluded moron. Every single Audi&BMW that is made is driven around a short course outside their respective factories. Same goes for almost every car manufacturer. Just go troll somewhere else, you fricking chav!
@Nakke144 Everywhere else they do but not in Wolfsburg, VW hand it to you on a plate. Quite literally. By the time Ford give you your new car its done so many miles its due for another service. Its reassuring to know that if you buy a Fiesta or any Ford you have little peace of mind because some young 17yearold headcase from the showroom has probably done stunts with it in a macdonalds car park before you had it. Lol
@1ns4ne1d10t So by that logic VW makes the best cars in the world? Give me a break. You are just a troll, who dont know jack shit about anything you are talking about. The test courses Ford, BMW, Audi, and many others use, are as short as karting tracks, so they really dont have that many miles on them. And what goes for VW's they also only have zero miles on them in case youself pick them up @ w-burg. Imported cars need to be driven on and off the lorries, and at customs.
I'm looking for a first car and I personally like the Polo's looks over the fiesta's anyday of the week. Now I have to pick between polo or ibiza sc...
You know what, Get A Nissan. Quit arguing about two cars that don't really even matter. Of course Americans are going to argue Ford and Europeans are going to argue VW and both have had decent cars over the years. Honesty, agree to disagree and move on.
@twojaythomo Perhaps your friend is a lot like my grandmother. She bought a new Mazda MX-5 2 years ago, and didn't change the oil until 18,XXX miles, the oil light was on the whole time. She never once changed the oil(or tranny fluid)! I changed it for her at this point, and at 30,XXX miles, the engine was fried and the car ruined (she still never got around to changing it every 3,000 miles!), and now she says Mazdas are shit.
Sure they are...Some people are too fucking stupid to own a car.
@SpeedingStudent Its so lucky somebody here worked for Enterprise rent a car driving and experiencing all the new cars. I'm not going to even start on Fiestas and their build quality and reliability issues because I wouldn't know where to start. Put it this way, more Fords were AA breakdowns then VW's. Infact, since I worked for Enterprise no VW or Seat ever came back as a broken return. Plenty of Vauxhalls and Fords had volatile breakdown deals on them so I rest my case.
@SpeedingStudent "VW 's are junk..." I suggest you read about the highly dangerous Fiesta EAC failures before you go round recommending trashy Fords to the world. EAC is when the Ford has no steering or brakes, quite laughable really. But then again look at their runaway cruise controls and Ford Pinto's that killed people. Hardly any surprise. Read the anti-ford page with the faults listed by model, its almost comedy.
Thats 1 up for VAG. More people liked the VW Polo over the Ford Fiesta it just shows you that VW make cars so well, you can't say no to a "boring" interior. Its funny how they call VW 'Boring' and Ford 'Exciting' just over an interior design. A Polo GTi will piss over a Ford Fiesta Zetec S for young drivers thrills any day of the week. Enough said!
@Nexum1 Polos are great, I can't believe the Fiesta costs more. Thats shocking. Its a WORSE built car with delphi parts which are WORSE than the ones VW use. Have you ever been in a new Fiesta like this one. I have driven them on a regular basis and after being in a Polo its like being in a rattly old wheelie bin, The ride quality is horrid and so are the seats. The Fiesta doesn't just feel cheaper its built badly, the panel gaps are much bigger.
@1ns4ne1d10t Yes, exactly what I thought. It is shocking, especially when you compare the two cars. The base 1.4 model of the Fiesta, costs the same (actually a little more) as the COMFORTLINE of the polo 1.4, and in the comfortline, you feel the german quality with the crome around the radio, and the leather steering wheel.. It feels much more expensive. Kind of "out-of-its-class"..
@1ns4ne1d10t Yes, i drove them both too, my brother owns this same fiesta, well, only blue. (lol) And i'm sorry to say, i feel that he made a mistake, because if he had just waited a few months, he could have gotten this beautiful polo. :) I totally agree with you.. VIVA VW!!!
@Nexum1 The Fiesta might look good (matter of taste), it might go round corners good, and have stupid red mood lighting inside but wheres the occupants seat height adjuster when you need it? Wheres the bassy sound system? Where are the comfortable seats? Where is the refinement? A few potholes later and the interior starts rattling you don't get this with VW.
@1ns4ne1d10t Yes, i also quite like the colors the fiesta comes in, but as you said, it fails in the places that matters!! VW is superior in all the important things.. but frankly, i don't really like the fiesta, it's back lights look like a shark when you view it from the side, it looks like a citroen or peugeot, i mean, french designs.. like it is trying to be to modern. I love th polo's refined, grown up look.
@Nexum1 The fiesta is best described as cosmopolitan or contemporary. Don't get me wrong it looks good but thats only the front, the rear styling is horrid and it looks like they ran right out of ideas and started to rush the design. I don't like Fords products they lack true quality, they are always about lots of impressive toys, shiny chrome and glittery paint with princey interiors but that really doesn't hold any weight for me.
@1ns4ne1d10t That reminds me of VWs I see in the U.S.
After 3 years, they almost always start disassembling themselves. The Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, etc...they are built to fucking last. Almost as good as Honda.
I'd love to own a little Polo 3-door, but their reliability is suspect.
@SpeedingStudent You are obviously another troll who is very unfamiliar with Ford products and don't know anything about them. They aren't built to last and by slating VW in favour of Ford I know you don't know anything about cars much. I used to have a video of a brand new 2010 Ford Focus on my profile with its awful squeaky rattling bonnet and weak door mirror quality. My dads Audi A4 and my BMW 3 series don't rattle and squeak anywhere and my dads Audi is 1995 N and my BMW is 1996 P.
@1ns4ne1d10t Hardly a troll. I love VWs, but would never own one. I have heard too many horror stories. We Americans put more than 30,000 miles on our cars. We demand they last for at least 10 years without any major failures.
In the EU, high milage is rare, as most people live within the cities and hardly put on any wear and tear. But here in the U.S., some of us drive from one side of the continent to the other. Not ragging you or VWs, chill out.
@SpeedingStudent I don't understand!? You would own a Ford but not a VW, Ford has WORSE horror stories then VW has ever had, and they still do. VW had recent discrepencies with the DPF's in 2.0 TDi's but you should see how many discrepencies there are with TDCi units then. If you knew the horrors you'd stay clear of them.
@1ns4ne1d10t man, calm down. I didn't run over your dog!!!
i don't live in Europe, so I will not have a chance to sample the awesome Fiesta Ecotec diesel with it's 60MPG of badassery.
We are getting the equivalent 1.6 (Zetec S to you guys), and it is overwhelmingly praised by the motoring press and every owner I have ever spoken with.
@SpeedingStudent Go and buy one then. What are you waiting for? Its a shame people like you can't understand which one is the better car but oh well, your american and americans are a nation of numpties and are known for their overall lack of intelligence so I'll be seeing you on the roadside in your Fiesta very shortly. I might even give you a lift to a Ford garage because their poor customer service won't care enough to help you! Lol
@1ns4ne1d10t Nice, sterotyping me because I don't want to have cameras watching me on every street corner, while being invaded my muzzies that want to kill me and rape my wife. Stay classy, Eurotrash.
I was being civil, but you had to drag this discussion into the mud of name-calling. Yeah, I'm the one lacking intellect. Take a walk, kiddo.
@SpeedingStudent Why don't you jump in your beloved Ford and switch the engine off while driving ona twisty road, do everyone a favour. I couldn't think of any better suicide then turning off an engine in a Ford. With Fords around there is no need to hang yourself!
@1ns4ne1d10t Like I said, with VWs, those first few years are bliss, but after the honeymoon, it becomes a nightmare. Perhaps the suppliers of components are strangled and quality is lacking.
In the EU, VWs are known as being "high quality", yet the long-term reliability is not there. I don't know how something can be "high quality", but have coil pack failures gallore, built-in crank bearings in the block (bearings wear out, the block is toast!) You call that quality?! You like FIAT, too?
@SpeedingStudent No you are just full of total crap, read about Fords they are worse then VW will ever be and I won't waste my time telling you, go find out for yourself. Get a TDCi Fiesta, watch the engine cut out and you have no steering or brakes but at least if VW end up doing that, you can steer and brake the car to safety. Always remember deathtraps like the Pinto and it says it all about Ford attitude. Good day my friend!
@SpeedingStudent They might have a few faults but what car is perfect? Its a whole lot better than TDCi Injector failures at £1200 per injector, £1500 for a clutch that lasts only 10,000 miles, spark plugs which rust permanently into the heads because of unsealed washer jets causing misfire (Entire spark replacement and a £1500 bill for a new engine head), expensive CBS componentry which lasts only 60,000 miles and a car that doesn't steer or brake when the engine cuts out. Stupid twit!
@1ns4ne1d10t Oh and I forgot, a £1200-£1500 DMF which lasts only 20,000 miles and then falls apart. I think you should really do some more research before trying to be anti-VW because VW were not the ones who managed to make Britains most unreliable MPV, Ford won the prize on that one with their current S-Max and the Focus C max came tops for unreliability too. I never heard of VW coming up with the UK's most unreliable MPV or car like the Touran and Sharon, Well done Ford! *clap clap clap*
@SpeedingStudent Go read up an S max and C max reliability. At least the Toureg will brake and steer after the engine dies a ford won't. It'll go in a straight line and throw itself off a cliff with you IN IT. At least Volkswagen didn't make scammy little rotten cars like the Barbecue that seated four people unlike Ford with thier Pinto. Lol
@SpeedingStudent You sure? Only last time I heard a Honda Civic going past the screwed up manifold made it sound like a garden lawnmower. Hondas had chocolate steering like Fiats and still have, their trackrods are almost lethal!
@SpeedingStudent Besides before you slag of VW, I have an 05 Seat Leon FR TDi with VW parts which has had nothing gone wrong with it whatsoever in 90,000 miles. Ford's TDCi's are always incurring injector failures after 50,000 miles not to mention a whole host of other failures including misfire. I wouldn't say the reliability is suspect one bit buy yourself a brand new Ford and you'll know what disassembling is.
@1ns4ne1d10t Oh, Yesterday, I went to also test drive the new Suzuki Maruti Swift 1.5 Manual, as it is the same price class, it's interior is not that great as the VW, and it kind of looks like it want's to be a mini cooper, BUT, it can DRIVE!! Wow, 0-60 mph, 9.5 seconds!! It is another option for people who considers buying a fiesta.. :)
@Nexum1 The Fiat Punto Grande 1.9 JTD 130 sporting is another option to consider, its cheaper than a Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 Ti VCT and not only that, its just as quick on its 0-60 in 9.5 seconds and its a diesel which is cheaper to run than a 1.6 petrol, not only do you get the 0-60 you get the snappy overtaking torque too. Japanese cars are heavily underrated and people associate them with grannies so they buy Fords and Vauxhalls which aren't as reliable as Jap and shitter too.
I've got a 2009 Polo, not the newest one shown here. I would prefer a brand new version of that one if I wanted to upgrade. The new Polo just doesn't do it for me in the looks department and it does look boring. The Fiesta I would never buy as the build quality is rubbish and my sister owned a J reg and a Y reg and had constant problems with them. Plus Ford were really slow with servicing and mucked her about each time she went in for a service and made her sit around for hours... Not good!
@stopcraponutube If you get a new Fiesta you won't be missing much from a Y-reg. They build is crap I used to work for a rental company and I used to drive them around to clean them. Ford splashed bright colours over them but couldn't give a shit about how they came out. Just to save money Ford stopped putting spare wheels in the boot. You won't get a space saver if you buy a Fiesta and it gets worse...
Having owned a Mk V and currently owning a Mk VI Fiesta, I have to say the Mk V Fiesta was faultless for 3 years, and the Mk VI has had numerous faults and visits to the dealer. I think that people over rate the German manufactured cars as the Dagenham built Fiesta was more reliable. Need I say any more about the Polo, Built in Germany! Boring and Drab at best.
the Polo is a good car, but buying a Polo because it looks like a Golf is just like marrying a woman because it looks like another. Fiesta is better everywhere else than a few interior plastic. and i will buy a fiesta because it's like a Fiesta !
Everyone prefer the Polo because it's the best car. Everyone who have a little bit of knowledge will take the Polo without doubt. That's the best 2010 car.
@Atheismrulez A Polo is somewhat better than that insult to a rattly wheelie-bin Fix Or Repair Daily. They still use those awful trash can parts from Michigan called Delphi. Ford never put any thought into this car they just threw sparkly paint on it and hoped everyone would buy the new polished turd "Lets make a car that goes round corners good and looks good but falls apart and rattles everywhere to compensate"
hi everyone im engineer and i love cars i ve driven lots of cars and i have a doubt about ford fiesta and vw polo i personally think that polo is slightly better then fiesta

Polo FTW

Lets compare excitement and top of the range models:
Best Polo: 1.4 TSi 177Bhp 0-60 6.7s
Best Fiesta: 1.6 TiVCT 132Bhp 0-60 8.4s.
Neither am I, I'm not starting an arguement. Just laying down the law.

@1ns4ne1d10t LOL what did you you expect for £10,000 a F1 car lol she does 0-60 in 6.7 lololololol and with grandmas shopping in the back not counting the baby seat she still does 0-60 in 6.8 HA HA HA
Pyromaceno1 7 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 I don't even know why you are laughing, its much less embarassing - a much faster car on a smaller engine. If I had a 'Hot hatch' Fiesta swathed in spoilers and bodykit I would be very embarassed by the fact that the feeble 1.6 litre engine is putting out 132Bhp (At best) and is only acheieving a 0-60 time of 8.4 seconds. Not very impressive when you are trying to show off to all your friends in the back because you have a point to prove about the speed. Speed what speed? Lol

Not trying to pick an argument but the Ford looks just fine to me, both are good!

@Pyromaceno1 Polo 2011 1.2 TDI (73 PS) Bluemotion (80 MPG) 91g/KM, Fiesta 1.6 TDCi (93/88 PS) 'Econetic' (76 MPG) 98g/KM - I think your Polo information is a little outdated.

@1ns4ne1d10t thanks for clearing that up you see not to bad 76MPG good old fords ;) polo is good also :)
Pyromaceno1 7 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 What you have to understand is that the actual MPG and what fords MPG are two different kettles of fish. Ford are known for over-exaggeration so don't place your bets on getting 76 miles to the gallon out of every Fiesta that leaves Dagenham because those Ford ventures with those rubbish HDI French diesel engines don't promise what they deliver. You believe far too much of what you read, besides the TDCi's are totally unreliable and have dodgey mapping on the ECU's. Don't trust them

Pyromaceno1 7 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 It also comes in handy when you get some pratt in a Fiesta Zetec S who is convinced his bodykit and spoiler (on his top of the range Fiesta) makes it faster then a 1.4 TSI Polo. Most Fiesta drivers have always got to scream around in a 30 zone (On the local chav estate) with their foot to the floor in the high revs to make it seem really fast because they know it isn't. They have to keep driving fast in the hope the spoilers will kick into action and make it faster - they don't.
1ns4ne1d10t 7 months ago
I've been reading all this anti-Polo rubbish from Ford drivers who own a Fiesta. Its not just about the interior plastic that defines the quality in a Polo. The Germans think of little things that matter, an extra seat height adjuster, gas piston under the bonnet, low rolling road noise, low cabin noise from engine intrusion, tightly closed panel gaps, rust resistant bodies. Why don't you get your heads out of your arse, visit a VW showroom and drive one. Are you scared you might like it?

SimonBak90 9 months ago 3
i see the polo looks better stronger and more manly then the fiesta that kind of looks like what they thought flying cars would be in the 60s. i don't like the cheap hybrid look about the fiesta and the inside looks plastic and i hear the Sony audio system upgrade is a must if your aren't deaf.
as for the polos new design it looks like a sharper brother edition of the mini combined with the vw badge nicest looking super mini.
SuperTubeLord 9 months ago 3

Civilisation fail.

Pyromaceno1 9 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 I sort of agree, they're peoples irrational perceptions and should be ignored. People need to wake up, the peter-pan economy of pre-sept-2008 is over. Your house is not worth 700K. Brand X does not cost 2x Y for rational reasons. We can't avoid work and 'flip' houses and we can't all live of 'investments'.
Widgets should be judged & weighted individually, to not do so is invalidate all advantage of a market.
I disagree with the Mustang tho. That is a stupid American piece of shit.
CmdrTobs 9 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 Hard pressed? Get a pair of glasses and you might see huge panel gaps in a Ford compared to a German car. It is very noticable, nothing squares up and none of the panels fit right. Fords of today remind me of old British Leyland cars where you could stick your hand through the gaps in the bodywork. Its not just the build quality, Volkswagens are also considerably quieter inside with better sound proofing measures so the quality is not all about the interior plastic. Drive one.
1ns4ne1d10t 7 months ago
@1ns4ne1d10t With my personal experience on 2008 polo the sound profing is far from ideal. the polo is great and Fords build is just fine says my dads 2001 mondeo with 175,000 miles on her and still starts on the button, you don't need to convince me about German engineering which is some of the best in the world! go and take a look on the UK roads and count how many fords go past New & 10 years+, maybe you need glasses O-O~ Ford is Very hard to beat for the money and are doing very well ;-)
Pyromaceno1 7 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 I am not trying to convince you, Ford are more expensive then German cars these days, it has been proven and Ford have been officially named and shamed for it. It is now cheaper for you to buy a BMW or an Audi equivalent then it is to buy a Ford. The Polo is a cheaper car then a Fiesta along with everything else so you can buy better for less. I am not trying to be a badge snob, I cannot justify how Ford can outprice the Germans on cars and they will never be as good.
1ns4ne1d10t 7 months ago
@1ns4ne1d10t LOL your sir are a nut job XD LOL Fords the same price as a Merc and BMW well good luck to you on that and buying parts or insurance for that matter XD my advice to you sir is DON'T BUY A FORD, to each their own Not everyone runs by your likes/dislikes. When I was a kid and still am then cars that was there for me being lower middle class at the time was vauxhall, Renault, Ford If we had not had these brands with the low income we would be taking the shoelace express. god bless FORD
Pyromaceno1 7 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 Expensive parts and insurance? What kind of spanner-brain are you? You clearly know nothing about parts and insurance as you have never owned German. You can buy cheap parts off Ebay/Amazon for ANY car, its the quality of the parts you put in it. German cars will take any cheap parts and servicing if you source them outside the box. You can easily run a German car as a runaround on a low income you plank they leave you no reason to buy a Ford, god bless Ebay and internet.
1ns4ne1d10t 7 months ago
@Pyromaceno1 Once upon a time (10 years ago) there was a valid reason to own a Ford because the parts and servicing were cheap. However times have moved on and this is 2011 the ever growing competitive market for cheaper components for German cars and the like are making them as affordable to own as your average Ford. The insurance group for a run-of-the-mill Audi is exactly the same as your average run-of-the-mill Ford. You just carry on buying Fords and French because I'm happy with German.
1ns4ne1d10t 7 months ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Enjoy :)
Pyromaceno1 7 months ago
@1ns4ne1d10t and Just in case you had a bit of trouble on your car knowledge (German) Mercedes, BMW or Audi do NOT build for the real world market as Superb as they are. Some people can't afford 35,000 - 45,000 cars so maybe it might become clear one day why FORD will still be going strong long after you pass. You think you have problems with loads of fords about in the UK? Try one of the world biggest markets the USA for size XD have a nice day :)
Pyromaceno1 7 months ago

The VW isn't the most exciting looking car ever, but everything feels chunky and well built, the badge is allot more desirable as well.
hamster639 9 months ago

And Polos have the comfort and quality when you tone it all down a bit = Polo + Fiesta -

thoong1 9 months ago

I just feel you get more value for money in the Fiesta.

i own both cars - both my fiesta in 2009 and the polo in 2010 for my wife.

Nakke144 1 year ago
@Nakke144 In Wolfsburg VW store their brand new cars in 2 huge towers and automatic robots move your car around. They do this so that the car is delivered with Zero miles on it and the robots wont damage it. And VW also have thier own theme park. Does Ford have any of these marvellous wonders? No they dont. The only thing Ford do when you buy a fiesta is spit at you.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Oh, the troll is back. And this comment shows you how little you know about anything, once again. They never have zero miles on them, since they have to be taken around a test course, to see everything is working. And imported cars have more on them, since they have to be driven on and off lorries. And what does some theme park has to do w/ anything? Nothing. Jeez you are one deluded moron.
Nakke144 1 year ago
@Nakke144 I wish what I said about VW in Wolfsburg was a load of bullshit but as it turns out its actually true. watch "how do they do it" season 3/episode 3/part 3. Its only Ford who add milage with thorough factory testing because they are turds and they fall to bits. VW are self-assured and they build cars to a good standard so they don't need testing. Awww bless Ford, they will get there eventually!
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Deluded moron. Every single Audi&BMW that is made is driven around a short course outside their respective factories. Same goes for almost every car manufacturer. Just go troll somewhere else, you fricking chav!
Nakke144 1 year ago
@Nakke144 Everywhere else they do but not in Wolfsburg, VW hand it to you on a plate. Quite literally. By the time Ford give you your new car its done so many miles its due for another service. Its reassuring to know that if you buy a Fiesta or any Ford you have little peace of mind because some young 17yearold headcase from the showroom has probably done stunts with it in a macdonalds car park before you had it. Lol
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t So by that logic VW makes the best cars in the world? Give me a break. You are just a troll, who dont know jack shit about anything you are talking about. The test courses Ford, BMW, Audi, and many others use, are as short as karting tracks, so they really dont have that many miles on them. And what goes for VW's they also only have zero miles on them in case youself pick them up @ w-burg. Imported cars need to be driven on and off the lorries, and at customs.

"Solid like a Golf", my ass.
VWs are junk. It's a wonder anyone buys them.
If you want a small and sporty car, get a Fiesta, or Civic.
VWs are plagued with issues from day one.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent I dont know about a civic my friend got a brand new one and the engine died after 2 years
twojaythomo 1 year ago
@twojaythomo Perhaps your friend is a lot like my grandmother. She bought a new Mazda MX-5 2 years ago, and didn't change the oil until 18,XXX miles, the oil light was on the whole time. She never once changed the oil(or tranny fluid)! I changed it for her at this point, and at 30,XXX miles, the engine was fried and the car ruined (she still never got around to changing it every 3,000 miles!), and now she says Mazdas are shit.
Sure they are...Some people are too fucking stupid to own a car.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent Its so lucky somebody here worked for Enterprise rent a car driving and experiencing all the new cars. I'm not going to even start on Fiestas and their build quality and reliability issues because I wouldn't know where to start. Put it this way, more Fords were AA breakdowns then VW's. Infact, since I worked for Enterprise no VW or Seat ever came back as a broken return. Plenty of Vauxhalls and Fords had volatile breakdown deals on them so I rest my case.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago

Sorry, Driven both.. Polo = Wins!! Sitting in it kinda reminds me of the opel astra.. Nice feeling. While the fiesta feels a little cheaper.
Nexum1 1 year ago
Oh, and while the fiesta feels a little cheaper, the fiesta is actually the more expensive one between the two in South Africa.
Nexum1 1 year ago
@Nexum1 Polos are great, I can't believe the Fiesta costs more. Thats shocking. Its a WORSE built car with delphi parts which are WORSE than the ones VW use. Have you ever been in a new Fiesta like this one. I have driven them on a regular basis and after being in a Polo its like being in a rattly old wheelie bin, The ride quality is horrid and so are the seats. The Fiesta doesn't just feel cheaper its built badly, the panel gaps are much bigger.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Yes, exactly what I thought. It is shocking, especially when you compare the two cars. The base 1.4 model of the Fiesta, costs the same (actually a little more) as the COMFORTLINE of the polo 1.4, and in the comfortline, you feel the german quality with the crome around the radio, and the leather steering wheel.. It feels much more expensive. Kind of "out-of-its-class"..
Nexum1 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Yes, i drove them both too, my brother owns this same fiesta, well, only blue. (lol) And i'm sorry to say, i feel that he made a mistake, because if he had just waited a few months, he could have gotten this beautiful polo. :) I totally agree with you.. VIVA VW!!!
Nexum1 1 year ago
@Nexum1 The Fiesta might look good (matter of taste), it might go round corners good, and have stupid red mood lighting inside but wheres the occupants seat height adjuster when you need it? Wheres the bassy sound system? Where are the comfortable seats? Where is the refinement? A few potholes later and the interior starts rattling you don't get this with VW.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Yes, i also quite like the colors the fiesta comes in, but as you said, it fails in the places that matters!! VW is superior in all the important things.. but frankly, i don't really like the fiesta, it's back lights look like a shark when you view it from the side, it looks like a citroen or peugeot, i mean, french designs.. like it is trying to be to modern. I love th polo's refined, grown up look.
Nexum1 1 year ago
@Nexum1 The fiesta is best described as cosmopolitan or contemporary. Don't get me wrong it looks good but thats only the front, the rear styling is horrid and it looks like they ran right out of ideas and started to rush the design. I don't like Fords products they lack true quality, they are always about lots of impressive toys, shiny chrome and glittery paint with princey interiors but that really doesn't hold any weight for me.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t That reminds me of VWs I see in the U.S.
After 3 years, they almost always start disassembling themselves. The Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, etc...they are built to fucking last. Almost as good as Honda.
I'd love to own a little Polo 3-door, but their reliability is suspect.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent You are obviously another troll who is very unfamiliar with Ford products and don't know anything about them. They aren't built to last and by slating VW in favour of Ford I know you don't know anything about cars much. I used to have a video of a brand new 2010 Ford Focus on my profile with its awful squeaky rattling bonnet and weak door mirror quality. My dads Audi A4 and my BMW 3 series don't rattle and squeak anywhere and my dads Audi is 1995 N and my BMW is 1996 P.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Hardly a troll. I love VWs, but would never own one. I have heard too many horror stories. We Americans put more than 30,000 miles on our cars. We demand they last for at least 10 years without any major failures.
In the EU, high milage is rare, as most people live within the cities and hardly put on any wear and tear. But here in the U.S., some of us drive from one side of the continent to the other. Not ragging you or VWs, chill out.
We just demand more quality here.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent I don't understand!? You would own a Ford but not a VW, Ford has WORSE horror stories then VW has ever had, and they still do. VW had recent discrepencies with the DPF's in 2.0 TDi's but you should see how many discrepencies there are with TDCi units then. If you knew the horrors you'd stay clear of them.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t man, calm down. I didn't run over your dog!!!
i don't live in Europe, so I will not have a chance to sample the awesome Fiesta Ecotec diesel with it's 60MPG of badassery.
We are getting the equivalent 1.6 (Zetec S to you guys), and it is overwhelmingly praised by the motoring press and every owner I have ever spoken with.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent Go and buy one then. What are you waiting for? Its a shame people like you can't understand which one is the better car but oh well, your american and americans are a nation of numpties and are known for their overall lack of intelligence so I'll be seeing you on the roadside in your Fiesta very shortly. I might even give you a lift to a Ford garage because their poor customer service won't care enough to help you! Lol
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Nice, sterotyping me because I don't want to have cameras watching me on every street corner, while being invaded my muzzies that want to kill me and rape my wife. Stay classy, Eurotrash.
I was being civil, but you had to drag this discussion into the mud of name-calling. Yeah, I'm the one lacking intellect. Take a walk, kiddo.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent Why don't you jump in your beloved Ford and switch the engine off while driving ona twisty road, do everyone a favour. I couldn't think of any better suicide then turning off an engine in a Ford. With Fords around there is no need to hang yourself!
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Like I said, with VWs, those first few years are bliss, but after the honeymoon, it becomes a nightmare. Perhaps the suppliers of components are strangled and quality is lacking.
In the EU, VWs are known as being "high quality", yet the long-term reliability is not there. I don't know how something can be "high quality", but have coil pack failures gallore, built-in crank bearings in the block (bearings wear out, the block is toast!) You call that quality?! You like FIAT, too?
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent No you are just full of total crap, read about Fords they are worse then VW will ever be and I won't waste my time telling you, go find out for yourself. Get a TDCi Fiesta, watch the engine cut out and you have no steering or brakes but at least if VW end up doing that, you can steer and brake the car to safety. Always remember deathtraps like the Pinto and it says it all about Ford attitude. Good day my friend!
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t look up brake failure on your beloved MK II Golf. really safe there.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent Look up injector leakages on any TDCi, really safe there. Its a frickin fire hazard because its compressed diesel which is leaking.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent They might have a few faults but what car is perfect? Its a whole lot better than TDCi Injector failures at £1200 per injector, £1500 for a clutch that lasts only 10,000 miles, spark plugs which rust permanently into the heads because of unsealed washer jets causing misfire (Entire spark replacement and a £1500 bill for a new engine head), expensive CBS componentry which lasts only 60,000 miles and a car that doesn't steer or brake when the engine cuts out. Stupid twit!
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Oh and I forgot, a £1200-£1500 DMF which lasts only 20,000 miles and then falls apart. I think you should really do some more research before trying to be anti-VW because VW were not the ones who managed to make Britains most unreliable MPV, Ford won the prize on that one with their current S-Max and the Focus C max came tops for unreliability too. I never heard of VW coming up with the UK's most unreliable MPV or car like the Touran and Sharon, Well done Ford! *clap clap clap*
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Look up VW Toureg reliability, then shut the fuck up.
The Toureg is legendary in it's unreliability. Yeah, go VW.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent Go read up an S max and C max reliability. At least the Toureg will brake and steer after the engine dies a ford won't. It'll go in a straight line and throw itself off a cliff with you IN IT. At least Volkswagen didn't make scammy little rotten cars like the Barbecue that seated four people unlike Ford with thier Pinto. Lol
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Like I said, Hondas are about perfect.
SpeedingStudent 1 year ago
@SpeedingStudent You sure? Only last time I heard a Honda Civic going past the screwed up manifold made it sound like a garden lawnmower. Hondas had chocolate steering like Fiats and still have, their trackrods are almost lethal!
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago

Nexum1 1 year ago

Not good!
stopcraponutube 1 year ago
@stopcraponutube If you get a new Fiesta you won't be missing much from a Y-reg. They build is crap I used to work for a rental company and I used to drive them around to clean them. Ford splashed bright colours over them but couldn't give a shit about how they came out. Just to save money Ford stopped putting spare wheels in the boot. You won't get a space saver if you buy a Fiesta and it gets worse...
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
Having owned a Mk V and currently owning a Mk VI Fiesta, I have to say the Mk V Fiesta was faultless for 3 years, and the Mk VI has had numerous faults and visits to the dealer. I think that people over rate the German manufactured cars as the Dagenham built Fiesta was more reliable. Need I say any more about the Polo, Built in Germany! Boring and Drab at best.
muppet1971 1 year ago
the Polo is a good car, but buying a Polo because it looks like a Golf is just like marrying a woman because it looks like another. Fiesta is better everywhere else than a few interior plastic. and i will buy a fiesta because it's like a Fiesta !
