  • Dr. Magnus Pyke on the different branches of science:

"If it squirms, it’s biology; if it stinks, it’s chemistry; if it doesn’t work, it’s physics; and if you can’t understand it, it’s mathematics."

  • SCIENCE!!!

  • im a young black woman and must Say D!s is A tru3 classic

  • For a scientific view of religion try Robert M. Price, ' The reason driven life ' & ' The DaVinci fraud', Victor J. Loftus, Dan Barker, Valerie Tarico, Truth-savescom, skepticsannotatedbible for Koran & Book of Mormon, talkorigins, wisdomcommons, mindvendorcom. 1500BCE papyrus of ani , David Mills, Bart Ehrman, Joseph Wheless

  • @zytigon For a modern slant on religion and spirituality I would add John Robinson HONEST TO GOD, Don Cupitt ABOVE US ONLY SKY and Anthony Freeman's GOD IN US. Pardon me for butting in - these are not evangelical texts but speculative, accessible works of theology.

  • @julesthemadman Thanks for that, I had a look through the reviews on Amazon about those books. Amazing all the different perspectives people have. I'm reading Darwins, ' On the origin of species' , quite a good read. Richard Dawkins, ' The ancestors tale ' is super. I've just bought ' Unweaving the rainbow ', looking forward to getting into that.

  • @zytigon Thought they might be of interest, by way of giving a fuller picture. I have always disliked the idea that Christians are simply expert at "believing what you know ain't so" and warmed to people who try to make some sense out of it from a philosophical point of view. Darwin was of course a Christian himself - Origin of Species predates by a year Essays and Reviews, about which you should be able to find out more online though it is now very ancient!

  • what's the name of the lady who plays miss sakamoto

  • Magnus rocks... RIP Dr Magnus Alfred Pyke, 1908-1992.

  • Where was this filmed? Wasn't that Heaton hall at Heaton park in Manchester?

  • @mistofoles

Its Actually Tittenhurst Park in Sunningdale in Royal Ascot The Once Residence of John And Yoko One Lennon ;)

At the time this was filmed it would of been owned by Ringo Starr :) Its now owned by the Sultan of Brunel apparently. The Operating Theatre Thomas Doldy is Wheeled into is the Famous "White Room" where the Video for Imagine was filmed ;)

  • fantastic old man, jajajaja

  • The story goes that she blinded him with science, after she had been blinded with science by Dr. Magnus Pyke.

The implication of relevance has been that Dr. Magnus Pyke blinded everyone with science. This was especially the case when people noticed him walking alongside them on the streets of NYC, in particular.

  • Magnus Pyke was a crazy and brilliant man.

  • mobb deep-got it twisted

  • I'm not sure, but is the woman in this video the same as the one from DEVO whipit????

  • No No, i don't think its the same women. Well, then again.... maybe! Lol. Yeah...... ^_^ i'm not really much help tho. i did post a response on the place you did also.

  • this song is the 80s

  • Ray Dolby's founder of Dolby Labs) son is named Thomas...

  • Dolby is the coolest name ever!!! Named my cat Dolby; after Dolby Labs....

  • I remember dancing to this in the basement of "The Rainbow Room" on sunset - this club rocked!

  • This is the jam!!! I heard the scientist didn't like people getting in his face hollering "Science!!" I love YouTube for these jams.

  • science!=)

  • I remember this classic coming out just like it was yesterday, well perhaps not yesterday...LOL... It was trully a great era for popular music!

  • I take that back.........His friends would call him Maggy...

  • Magnus ummm what a great name for for your first born boy...???? I like it anyways..

  • Science!

  • i remeber the old guy who said SCIENCE!

  • The scientist was played by genuine scientist and presenter, the late Magnus Pyke. Pyke was genuinely eccentric and enjoyed playing to the "mad scientist" image, but was successful in explaining science in a way that was easily understood by the lay person. Apparently, when told of one of his lines, his first response was "ah, but no woman could blind ME with science. "

  • here is a crazy and very true fact. the guy on top of the roof in this video actually committed suicide later in his life by jumping off a roof, no joke.

  • this is my dads and my favorit song

  • How abstute an observation lorien2721...One hella good song...

  • Great song and great odd video which fits perfectly with the song. Kind of odd Dolby changed his name to Alton Brown and now has a cooking show on TV Good Eats :)

  • LOL! I did not know that...and I love Good Eats :D

  • Magnus Pike RIP & God Bless

  • SCIENCE!!!!!!!

  • Last year I had a really hot science teacher, and I always thought of this song when I was in class.

  • yea lol tht chick got hit with the ugly stick

  • lol

  • and the thing is, that chick isnt all that hot XD

  • Love this music video.

There is a great remake of this video if you look up "Thomas Techie - NMT Blinded Me With Science". It was made for a video contest at New Mexico Tech.

  • OMG This was when MTV was the bomb!

  • Good Heavens ms sakomoto your beautiful!

  • LOve the beat to this song!

  • my science teacher plays this during lab days (quiver)...

  • Nice. Dang, I wish I had a lab teacher that did that. Except...maybe only once in a while. Hearing this song every day would get obnoxious, no matter how good it is. XD

  • Snorting Coke? I thought it was smelling the chemicals. At the subsequent corresponding place he makes a guttural sound that is supposed to evoke machinery, I suppose.

The guy on the roof with the jet-pack or whatever it is, totally cracks me up.

  • Best of the 80's right here!

  • yea yea the best of the best of the 80s

  • Lol, I always got a kick out of Thomas doing those little sniffs (1:18-1:20) It looks like he just got done snorting coke! xD

  • One of the catchiest 80's tunes EVER! This never gets old! :D

  • Thank you for posting this great video!

  • Now this was a video that defined the 80s! Thanks for posting!
