  • What did you use to clean up the edges of the holes that you cut in the mounting panel of the case? I saw a rubber thing on one of them but I couldn't identify some of the other things you used to cover up the rough edges

  • @woodbr30043 U-channel ....also know as edge molding. For the rubber thing it is custom made grommets. I have a couple vids on how I made them....just search my vids for "custom grommet"

  • Brilliant Vids keep up the ace work Lazyman Harry Horton

  • AWESOME MUSIC GH5 ROCKS !!!!!

play that funky music white boy

  • hey mate gots a question whats a good website that i can find colourd lights and fans, cause ill be having the same case as u =) cheers ty.

  • @2011053406 You can find LED fans anywhere, but for the LED lights I would go to superbrightleds(dot)com, that is where I get mine. They sell LED strip lighting which for me is much more versatile than say a cold cathode. Hope this helps

  • I was just looking through your vids, i have a Thermaltake Armor case, and this video here is the original reason i started watching your vids and subscribed, I always wished i could do the paint like this one, but just never got around to it. Very clean and very nice, good job!!

  • @dustinallen1982 Thanks bro...you can always paint it down the road.

  • if i were you ,id go with the onboard audio chip.

instead of adding a extra card .

that way you save the trouble of running double audio drivers and you can leave the chip on like it is.

and you got extra room for ventilation and less cable mess.

besides who needs a audio card with that audio chip.

  • @ImmortalUniverse Thanks bro, do you think onboard audio is as good as a dedicated sound card.

  • @WestCoastMods

depends on who made the chip, but ya i think so.

if you got a realtek chip or a soundmax ADI chip.

then you got high quality in 1 chip ,instead of bigger components on a bigger circuit board..

for gamers it can even be better to have 1 chip.

goz cards slow down the cpu more.

    .

  • @WestCoastMods It depends, really. Are you going to be using a quality speaker system? If so, you would benefit from using a sound card. But if you aren't planning on getting speakers equal in quality, then don't bother, as you won't notice a huge difference in sound quality. Most modern Motherboards have good quality on board sound anyhow. I say you stick with on board, as it's quite good nowadays.

  • @ThaDinoWS I agree with your statement 100%...I personally have mine hooked up to a High-end custom 5.1 system, but most ppl use a sound card with low quality 5.1 or even a 2.1 setup......

However I no longer have the Creative Labs junk...will never buy a product ( sound card) from them again...

  • @WestCoastMods do you guys ship to Sweden ?

  • @anessabanovic Ship anywhere in the world as long as you're willing to pay the shipping charges.

  • @WestCoastMods Awsome! ;)

  • looks cool ,but what a huge case.

well atleast you got plenty of room :)

  • great video! awesome advice!

  • great case! just wondering, when it comes to sptrying the parts, can you just spray straight onto the metal? or do you have to do anything beforehand? i olny ask as im going to try a modded case, but this will be the first time i change the colour..

    thanks!

  • @RalphyWiggum123 I would use a primer..preferable a self etching primer...I will send you a PM with the steps I took to achieve this paint job

  • @WestCoastMods got your link, and i have subscribed to your page, some brilliant advice and easy steps on how to do it! thanks for replying, i appreciate you must be busy

  • @WestCoastMods hello do you have a video with the steps to achieve this look?

  • @650sFinnest I have a 3 part video before this one kinda showing what paint I used and techniques.

I will also send you a PM with the steps I used.

  • Thanks for Wacthing! LOL

  • @Goodygums Yeah, I missed that one...lol

  • @WestCoastMods S'all good.

    Love your videos man.

  • Dude this is fantastic. If I may suggest something, I think all it needs is some chromed stuff. Or a cool water cooling system painted red :p.

I have to ask. I'm from Venezuela and we don't have people that make custom pcs like this. What kind of paint did you use? Regular spray paint? Car paint? Acrylic paint? And how do you make it so shiny. I'm thinking about getting this case (or a cool one like this with a window) and painting it! but i need money :p.

Great jobs! Keep it up man

  • @GnomoLD Yeah, I used Automotive paint right from a rattle can. (DupliColor Paint) then I sprayed a few clear coats to give it the shine. If you want I can send you a short how to on what steps I took.

  • @WestCoastMods That would be fantastic!. I'd love to see that!. Send it to me!. I'm looking to buy a new case and start doing a mild modding of my PC. Sloooowwwwlyy but steady :p. What case would you recommend?

  • @GnomoLD I have no recommendations on cases as they all have good points and bad points. But even though Thermaltake dosesn't get great reviews their Armor Plus IMO is a good overall case. I am very happy with it, and I have used many different cases. I will send you steps I took to paint the Black Widow now.

  • @GnomoLD thank you so much :). I've been loving this case and you just made it better. Maybe i'll get the Mid tower Armor case.

  • Crazy!!! Look my Pc Tunning:

    youtube.com\watch?v=1uJ5KeQCNpM

  • legs with weels

  • nice job man

  • @beastenick Thank you sir

  • l2use engine enamel + clear coat.

  • @zomgwtfbbqbagel That will work too....

  • You should open a store and do case mods / cable sleeving but also sell parts, you know just to wrake in more money. :P I would totally pay you to sleeve and do cable management. A high dollar too.

  • @crazyCA12 Thanks bro, yeah maybe down the road. Everything takes time, and I am so busy ATM that I don't have time to anything else.

    But thanks for your support.

  • I wouldn't pay you to do this kind of work, but hey.... looks like you put in some good time on this, good luck have fun. :)

  • @TheSickdrift Who said you had to pay me...and what makes you think I would even want to do this for you.....

  • Yes!...God!!...is just an opinion, you figure out, finally!

  • @xplaur Bro I don't know where you coming from...you left a comment on my vid and I said "thanks bro" That should have been the end of it. But no you had to come back and criticize my work and try to explain yourself...you should just go climb back under your rock and quite wasting my time.

    Cheers

    LazyMan

  • Feedback and approval are two different things, I think you know that well (if you don't, that's bad, because is your language, not mine).

  • @xplaur Whatever you say boss, your feedback is just your opinion, which you are entitled to, but if you don't like what I have to offer than please don't put yourself out and watch my vids.

  • Man, I really want to give positive feedback, trust me, but what you've just done there is not so spectacular as you think, I hope you don't mind.

Anyway, keep working and, maybe, sometime, you will give us a powerful reason to say "Wow".

    Cheers!

  • @xplaur What makes you think I need your approval anyway, I was just showing my work whether it was good or bad or just okay. But just to share the effort that went into this paint job, I will PM you. Sure there may be guys out there that are pro's with a rattle can, but for me not being a pro it is probably one of the best paint jobs with a rattle can that I have seen on YouTube. Not trying to be arrogant, just stating the facts. If it's not so good, why do I have 4000subs in a little over a yr

  • Comment removed

  • booooringgg.....

  • @xplaur Thanks bro, really appreciate your support!

  • i have this same case - tha most fuckin good-lookin what i ever seen. Your moddin is crazy! Really good, but i mean so blue color instead red would be better

  • @CRYPTfromCATACOMBZ Thanks bro...would have used blue, but I have a couple other blue themed cases......

  • @1991ENIGMA Yes I let it cure for 2 weeks before assembling the case ...but I also sprayed a clear coat before it cured...this was all done with rattle cans. I will send you on the steps I used in a PM

  • Love that red black scheme. perfect match for the red black ROG boards. Btw, do I see orange as well or is that the lighting? Enermax have a magma fan that would look sweet with that setup.

  • @THEJEDEYEMASTER Thanks bro, appreciate your comment. btw it's the fans, I painted them all red in a future vid.....and change the LED's from white to red......looks awesome!

  • when u guys paint cases do u spray them or r they powdercoated?????

  • @2baylord This case was just sprayed with rattle cans...but now I use a professional who can either do liquid or powdercoat. I also have a airbrush artist who does some fantastic graphic work. If you need a case painted PM me and we can talk.

  • i just liked the music. srry ^^

  • hey was just woundering did you use the same paint on the front drive bays as you did the metal work inside?

  • @plunkmaster Yes...exactly the same...primer, ground coat, color and then clear...just spray lightly or you will clog the holes on the mesh. If that happens use a toothpick to clean them out.

  • what ever happened to this case....i followed all the vids but i NEVER got to see the end result.....its been over a year....i got a case similar to this

  • @marlonarthur1 It was a personal build, and when i got to busy with client builds I had to put it off until I had more time. But the way thing are going it will be some time before I can get back on it.

  • Hey LazyMan--I did the same to my Antec 900. The generic grey interior was so boring. I painted it a kind of grey-green camo color called cast coat iron. It looks awesome now. Also drilled holes for better cabling. What did you use to cover the edges of the drill holes? One looks like the rubber grommets on the back of my Antec.I used some kind of electrical conduit fittings (I had to cut them to a shorter length) that look similar. Nice mod on the Black Widow.

  • @DiGiTaLdAzEDM I used grommets and u-channel to protect the cable from the edges, then I made some custom grommets to cover up the entire hole. See my vid..Make your own custom grommet and custom grommet revised. I have made improvements since then, I now just use rubber on rubber, attaching them to the case with contact cement.

    LazyMan

  • needs more cowbell

  • Hmm, why didn't you first drill the holes and then paint the case?

  • @Trusteft Not sure what you're referring to, I did drill out all the holes before I painted it.

  • @WestCoastMods

I am sorry, the 05:45 point/message I understood it as doing some work after the paint job. That was silly of me.

  • @Trusteft No worries, however there are times even after painting that I may have to make some additional modifications. I try to catch everything up front, but sometimes I just miss something...lol

  • Love the song! Should be your intro! haha

  • @blakelocati Yeah, one of my all-time favorites songs, but with YouTube's copyright bullshit, I can not longer use music like this, unless I want to get out of the YT partner program.

  • Very nice!!!!

  • Nice work! Armor case is great but your version is even better!

  • @2007salazar Thanks bro, I working on a couple other extreme projects at the moment....sub so you don't miss them.

    Thanks again

    LazyMan

  • hi good work look my pc ciao dall'italia

  • how do you get the paint that shiny i want to customise a pc and this look, looks good what paint do you use to paint computers would be grateful if you could return message thanks

  • @morrisben1985 I will PM you

  • i did something similar with my case, i just spray painted it black with about 4 cans of paint...

  • @neardood1 Ver nice, are you going to post any vids showing it?

  • yea i have the same case with the same fans! i also paintet it black but not orange =)

  • Great Modding ! From a french viewer, Cheers ;-)

  • @rodolphedu54 Thanks and i appreciate your support from France.

  • Looks great, too bad I'm no where near the west coast, but I was also wondering how you installed the top fan because I have a TT armor+ as well

  • @OnixRose You need to remove the front first then the top will come off giving you access to mount the fan on top.

  • Love that TT Armor+ Rig!!!!

    Really Good job!!!

How did you remove that top part of rig?

I tried to remove that top part (Where you attached xigis fan on top), but I couldn't do that... If you could give me any tip how to?;)

  • @t160 Thanks bro

  • i love what you did with the case

    it's awesome

how much time did you spend on modding this case?

  • @dudemvp Sorry for the late reply, but lets just say it wasn't cheap to build and mod the Black Widow. In fact it's a ongoing project as I have been very busy with other builds, will be getting back on it as soon as time allows.

  • @WestCoastMods

no problem i know you are very busy :)

    keep up the good work

i love your mod's there all a piece of art :)

  • heya im very much interested in doing this mod

I already have the orange xigis fans from an earlier build + I have a thermaltake xaser VI (red/black) lcs

will there be much difference doing this on the Xaser VI?

Also can you please send me the instructions

    Cheers,

    Goldboy

  • @TheGoldboy101 I sure you would be able to. Not sure what instructions you're looking for. Can you be more specific, and really there is no written instructions.

  • I like both, Music&Case.

  • @BertJundt Thanks bro, are you on a WestCoastMods marathon...thanks!

  • hey lazy those holes for cable management are made by you right? :)...cuz i saw its pictures n it comes only with that big hole @ the bottom right..anyways we can clearly see ur hardwork xD

  • @CLSAMG4eva Yes I made almost everyone except the two at the bottom and I think 1 on the side. I have a earlier vid showing me markup and cutting the holes. Also I will be doing a vid here in the near future going over it again

  • Veg'd all day lol, LOL. and Why not :-)

  • @markcumbriauk I wish I could veg'd right about now too...lol

  • How much paint do you reckon it would take to paint the whole inside of this case, i have one but dont know how much paint and primer to order. Thanks

  • @MrRittzy Hey bro, it took me about 15 cans to paint the interior only. But that was applying a couple coats of primer, color and clear coat, it has about 8 coats total. I will send you a PM on the steps I took to paint the Black Widow.

Now this may be extreme, but if you're looking for a quality paint job, then IMO this is what it takes. some ppl paint there interiors with 2-3 cans and it may be fine, but it won't last over time.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • i like the way the case it working out.

  • what do you think about putting an amd bracket on you motherboard, you can use it and most heatsink have adapters, then you can install the heatsink from the front, is there a reason that it wouldnt be better than screwing the heatsink from the back, i find it very difficult.

  • @pfernando27 Didn't think of that, will try that next time I disassemble the cooler to see if it will work. However I have had my cooler off several times now and the more I put it on take it off, it's getting much easier, or I'm just getting use to it...lol

  • @WestCoastMods also if you screw it too tight it can bend the motherboard and cause it to not work, my friend has a 775 motherboard and it wouldnt work i removed the screws and just let the heatsink stand on it and it worked ran it for a day and it still works. thats the adapter ZALMAN ZM-CS4A Socket 1366 Clip Support Kit for CNPS9500/9700

  • @pfernando27 I agree, mine is just hand tight.

  • Nice mod! just one question, where do u get the gromets for the cable management holes you made?

  • @csb04d Actually there is not just one place as different vendors carry different sizes. So I have bought some at Fry's electronics, Home Depot, Performance PC's, Frozen CPU's. There is one place that I am starting to buy from and that is Component Force, keyword PVC Grommets they will even send you free samples

    Hope this helps

    LazyMan :-)

  • @csb04d You should subscribe to my channel as I have some pretty exciting vids coming very soon.

  • nice color choice very nice check my mid size for a lanparty solution that thing is just to beautiful for being moved around

  • @heliandrix Thanks bro, yes I did take a look at you tower, nice job.

  • I wanted to thank you for making this vid. I was actually inspired by this case and made a similair setup to this case with the Umbrealla Corporation theme behind it.

So far I spent HOURS and HOURS prepping everything to make it look sharp. I cant wait to get it all put together. I'll keep you posted and GREAT WORK!!!!

  • @hookedoncaffeine Thanks bro, I'm glad this has inspired you. Also I love your user name. Oh how true it is. lol

You may want to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss any followups that are to come on the Black Widow.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Try CROWN ROYAL XR. $150 per 5th.

  • @lcd511 I've had that one time. Very good! but for everyday use it's a little rich for my blood. lol well maybe not everyday, but you know what I mean

  • just amazing man. makes my computer look like crap (which its not) xD

  • Thanks bro, I have over $3500 invested and still haven't gone WC'ing yet. May stay air cooled on this one and go WC'ing on the next rig.

  • @WestCoastMods how did u manage cable manegment on this case lol, your work, paint and rig is amazing, but the case it self sux.

  • What makes you say that, do you own this case? I have used many different case for personal builds and client builds and IMO this is one of these best cases I have used. Sure it is not perfect, but which case is? I will tell you this it is one of the largest cases out there, with plenty of room inside, removable mobo tray, HDD bay facing towards the back, lots of ventilation, plenty of room for extra fans or a rad, pump and reservoir, fits any GPU card out there with room to spare, ect

  • @WestCoastMods i owned it. it has hardly any cooling capability's the fan spots are horribly located the space between the mobo tray and side panel is to think to fit wire's, their isnt enough holes to hide the cable's the cable managment sucks worse then anything, the psu is top mounted, and no where to hide them, it has that ugly metal finish, it sucks for water cooling, but yes it is spacious to an insane degree, i ditched that p.o.s for the TT spedo advanced package,

  • @chorinicpker to each his own. Evey case I have ever owned needed some modding, as this one did. So for everything you dislike about this case can be easily modded as long as you're willing to put the effort forward. Also I think there's plenty of room between the mobo tray and the side panel, as long as you know how to do cable mgmt. Also having a non modular 1200w PSU doesn't help, (actually overkill for your setup) but that a different story.

I will be posting new vids on the build, so u see

  • @WestCoastMods considering my set up uses 1123 watts load my 1200 is over kill? not at all,

  • @chorinicpker I though you only had a single 295, as it was impossible to see in the video, and I quickly glanced at your specs. My bad, I see that you're running dual 295's

  • @WestCoastMods the 295's are killer's

  • @chorinicpker Hey bro was just wondering if you are that dissatisfied with the Armor case would you consider in selling it to me for cheap.

  • @WestCoastMods blew dat shiznit up with thermite,

  • @chorinicpker Sure you did.

  • @WestCoastMods i was being sarcastic.

  • @chorinicpker I knew what you were trying to be, as it's pretty obvious that you are a pretty demented little bitch.

  • @WestCoastMods well your a sad fucking asshole, lets hope i never meet u IRl, ill fuck u up.

  • @chorinicpker I'm scarrrred.........little bitch! It's not to hard to find WestCoastMods address, I'll be waiting for you.

  • @WestCoastMods im not gongi to search for your worthless ass, but if we bumb into eachohter, your going to have some problem's

  • cool song name plz

  • @buckloko1

Play That Funky Music White Boy- Wild Cherry

  • my power led isnt working yet all the connections are made correct. on my armour case. i thought the chances of it being the led burned out is slim as these last for ages. i unfortunately splif a coffe of my desk and most nearly all went on the floor but a tiny amount seeped into the floppy drive and inbetween the dvd bay. nothign seemed to get into the electrics but now when the floppy drives is connected it forces the power supply to shut of after half a second of powering up ok if removed

  • Thats funny, because mine did not work either, not sure why. I wasn't to disappointed as I was going to change it out for a red one anyway, so with it not lighting up, which I assumed it would be blue saved me some work. I also keep my case on top of my desk so I don't even see the top of the case.

But I agree it seems unlikely that the LED is out, but it is possible, i would check the wiring to the LED first and see if it's soldered properly, maybe a bad connection, then I would try a new LED

  • that's sexy, i just bought armor + for a new build. got it early and im going to paint. still need to decide on a scheme

  • Sounds great, if you have any questions pm ME.

If you make any vids, send me a link.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • absolutely beautiful case! I'm planning on switching to a Coolermaster 932 HAF painting it a midnight blue & royal blue accents with all blue LED fans.

  • That will look nice, post some pics or a video on your progress.

  • Hey man. First of all - love the case!

Just a question, how much does it cost to get the inside sprayed black?

Also, I'm trying to decide between this case and an Antec 1200. Just wondering if you have any opinion on the 1200 and if you are able to tell me why you chose the TT armor+ 6000 over other cases?

Thanks! (Sorry about the question bombardment)

  • No worries, I looked at every available case out there and the Armor got my money for a couple of reasons. first it was overall the largest case out there and IMO the best case for Air flow, 10 expansion slots, hard drives that face the back, removable mobo tray, easy to work with and easy to mod, I'm sure there were more reasons I just can't think of them at the moment.

The Antec 1200, Cosmos S and others are nice but the Armor had more appeal to me. I would look hard at the Corsair if WC'ing

  • Got a question for ya dude, how did you paint the 5.25" bays? I cant see how I'm ever going to remove it for painting. Well, short of breaking all the pop rivets that is.

  • The only way to remove the 5.25 bay for paint, is to drill out the rivets. It really isn't that hard at all, I actually have a vid showing a little bit about removing /installing rivets. Also I will be doing another vid soon showing the removal of rivets when I break down the Storm Shadow for paint.

  • Thanks brother. I did end up drilling out the rivets. When I was standing there wondering how to remove the bay, the thought, "I wish it had screws" came to mind, so thats what I did, I gave it screws. I look forward to seeing your next vid brother. Your vids are among some of my favourites here on YouTube. I also like TigerDirect's vids.

  • That sounds good, hopefully you won't need to remove the 5.25 bay again, but if you ever do it will be a lot easier.

  • MY GOD absolutly beautiful and stunning! Wish it was something i could replicate! :)

  • Thanks buddy, it is something you can replicate, with a little effort and some patience and hard work you could replicate this with no problem.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Sounds good, seems like a lot of hardware for a mid tower case? Also I must ask do you feel that the 965 was worth the money now that you have owned it for a while.

Just wondering, Because for years I bought the top of the line processors, heck I remember paying like over $1000 for a Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition, now there around $100, never again.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • no man, 965 was probably one of the best purchases in a while. Ive got a QX9300 in my Alienware M17 and a Q8300 in my other desktop (work) but with this gaming pc and quad 4770's it does pretty well on things like crysis/gta4, and all under 1500$

infact quad 4770's are more powerfulo than the 5850

just without the dx11 of course

  • There is only 1 word for this case!

    TOTALEY AWSOME:D

U ought to make another 1 just like this same paint and all and then sell it to me :D, ide pay good money for this! but i duno iss ma £15 a week paper round would pay for this, as well as the Pounds to Dollers but hay a boy can dream lol

    5*

  • Thanks bro, Glad you really like it, maybe someday I can mod a case for you. Start saving you paper route money now. lol

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • I just got my Thermaltake Armor+ case the other day and I've been thinking of the same color theme and then right now I'm watching ur video. :D

Red & Black color theme is beautiful with this computer case! 5 stars for this vid!

  • Thanks bro, Keep me informed on how it turns out. Will you be making any vids of the build?

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • hey LazyMan great case dude, i followed all your vids on this case, and you did a fantastic job on it, you inspired me to get the case and mod it also, custom paint job and everything, i used black and gold, im putting up a video of it soon and i would like you to check it out and see what you think, i just want the opinion of someone who had done their mod so amazingly well. thanks in advance bro

  • Yeah bro, I will check it out as soon as it's up. If it's not up yet just PM when it is.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Very nice man.

  • Thanks!

  • wish i had all the stuff that you used for cutting holes etc..,very professional sir.

  • Thanks bro, it took some time to acquire all my tools. If you buy a couple tools here and a couple there then over time you too will have everything you need Mod.

    Cheers

    LazyMan ;-)

  • WOW, thats a seriously -professional- job there!! Awesome job lazyman!

  • Thanks bro!

  • does that grommetting stay on? i ordered some from performance pc for my mod that ive been talking to you about. I gotta cut out mobo wiremanagement holes.

  • Well of course the u-channel will stay on, as long as you put in on properly.

  • i wish but santa is broke this year too haha mabye just a razer deathadder mouse xD

  • Awesome Modded case man!! it's black..it's red..What else is there, my two fav colors..Also lets not forget all the mod holes you drilled for excellent clean routing.. the dremel mustve been getting overtime on this case.. Any how cant wait to see it all finished!! Congrats !! thanks for comments on my video as well my friend..Extreme PC's for Life!!

    -DragonCyber 2010

  • Thanks bro, yeah the Dremel, drill motor and a file got a pretty good workout. lol

  • @DragonCyber2010 lol he has a video up where his dremel burst into flames!..not really. But it did start to smoke. He busted out this hige Mobea Cutting Wheel/Grinder. Thats what workers use in the steel fabrication shop i work at.

  • that im dont have no money =( but i like how u modded it xD

  • I see, maybe Santa will bring it for X-mas. Have you been a good boy! lol

  • no its the case i just wish i could go out and buy it for my future build
