She was determined, strong and very set in her beliefs, much as her mother Queen Isabel of Castille was. Both Catherine and her sister Joan had unexpected turns from most favored to rejected in their lives. Such tragedies.
Henry's father was to blame for this. After Arthur died, their father didn't want to give the dowry back to KofA's father so he arranged for her to marry his next son. It wasn't her fault she did as she was told. Henry didn't seem to have a problem marrying Anne even though he'd fucked her sister, mary. What a hypocrite.
There is this tendency in British films to show Catherine as a Spanish woman with very dark hair. The portraits of the era show her differently: orangy-ginger hair
@CallXenaWarrior There was something on TV a couple of years ago, about mistakes in shows. Since this is such a powerful scene it's easy to remember it well. The watch was pointed out in the show and I remember it as being part of the scene. Distracts me every time.

God I can't imagine this. The life this woman had....poor Katherine. She was a strong woman. Unlike Anne, she didn't need to throw tantrums to prove she was intelligent or strong.
I'm a Catherine and Anne supporter, I don't have a side between the two women. I know what Anne, mostly Henry, and Catherine's enemies did to her and Mary I do recognize that and it is sick how Henry separated Mary and Catherine and forcing Mary to choose. Anne made her bed and realized being queen was difficult especially being queen to that man, but you have to understand no one deserves to die base on false charges, and if you believe that then you are no better than Henry the murderer.
Henry made all the decisions to do what he did to Catherine and Mary he was King of England, Anne may have influenced him, but he always made the final decision, I can't believe you actually believe that Anne made Henry execute Thomas More, nobody made that bastard to anything. Henry didn't love Catherine anymore, poor Catherine and Mary what he did. Then he did the same to Anne and Elizabeth, all these women loved Henry and he betrayed them. Anne was tempermental yes, but she was betrayed.
@lloydistosexy. A whore is someone who has sex with multiple people and who has sex outside of marriage. So why aren't you saying Henry's a whore, because he was the Great Whore of England. And do you seriously think that after all she did, what her family did to push her into that, she would do anyting to jeopardize it uh no. You have to understand what people were like back then. You can't assume what Anne's enemies say, she was a woman, women were treated horribly back then. Henry did this!
@lloydistosexy. Henry was mad at Wolsey for not getting a divorce, Wolsey didn't even want Henry to marry Anne anyway. Wolsey knew that Henry was going to divorce Catherine no matter what, so he wanted Henry to marry a French Princess, bet you didn't know that did you. And she didn't encourage Henry to do anything to More, Henry wanted to be head of the church. Henry wanted power and a son above all things, Wolsey,Anne,Catherine were cast away. To say she deserved death, you're cold.
@babydlowe. you have no sympathy for her, you're an idiot, don't you know every woman and their families were trying to do the same thing: Get power by becoming wife of the King. Anne's family persuaded and pushed her into Henry, remember she didn't love Henry at first, she was going to marry someone else, but then she fell in love with Henry. Yes she treated Mary bad I know, but she wasn't the only one who hurt that poor girl, You're forgetting the person who did it all: Henry VIII.
@mckfrr Let's not forget what Anne did to Wolsey and what she encouraged Henry to do to Moore. Ann hurt a lot of people and she got what she deserved.
The jewelry that Catherine puts on/wears are the jewels given to the queens of England, right? They are absolutely beautiful! Can someone get nice images of them, please! Love her gown as well (usually I don't like black, but this is nice)!
A real catholic believes that Pope is God`s representative on the Earth, so his word is almost God´s word, for good and for bad. Maybe you can deduce that the papacy is a nonsense, or you can realice that the Pope or the Roman Curia is corrupt, but to believe that his word is true when you like it, and not when is not advisable is an hypocrisy
Even though Elizebeth was a wonderful Queen and when you think of England you think of her!! but i must say that Katherine of Aragon was a trully amazing woman, her and her daughter marry, they were treated badly but then when things turned on Anne, everyone felt bad for her, and then people hated Jane, why? Anne did the same thing to Katherine so why be mad at a woman that was pro Kaherine and wated the people of England to have a true Queen, so sad really.
Get over the Anne hate already, just like us Katherine supporters tolerate things pro-Anne fans speculate and criticize about her. Opinions are opinions in the end and everyone has them. In the end only yours matters.
Because ppl what to make her out to be a something she was not. She was not a good person. This woman was the other woman(& yes he had many) in his marriage. She treated a Mary bad which was not moral at all. She wasnt willing to defend like Catherine. She wasnt willing to be calm like Jane, she wasn't even as cunning as Catherine Parr. So what was she? She was a woman that used her body to make it to the top but failed when her body didnt deliver on the job. I have no sympathy for her.

You're catholic, aren't you? You forget that Anne brought the Reformation to England and protected many Reformers. The Protestant Reformation led to women ultimately being treated better. Yyou're a misogynist
No I'm a Baptist. And she didnt. Cornwell and Cramer did. Yea she was there but truthfully Henry was looking for more power and a way to breed a male heir. She alined herself w/them to make it seem like she was one of the ones that started and in truth she was a big supporter but she wasn't the one, out for what she could get. it's disturbing that u would think she did it to be a humanitarn. Kathrine is said to have strongly supported women and she had nothing to gain by doing it.
no, you're wrong. What's disturbing is that you, as a Protestant, can support Catherine and Mary, who persecuted our religion and wanted us dead. Catherine did not support women, she was raised to believe women were inferior to men, as all did during that time period. Anne was a good woman, just because she was cruel to Catherine and Mary(who deserved it for persecuting innocent Protestants) doesn't cancel out her good traits. Misogynist pig!
HOW DARE U JUSTIFY THAT SHE WAS A GOOD PERSON FOR TORMENTING A CHILD! Let's get of the religion kick and look at her as human begin. If she was alive today child services would have removed Mary and Elizabeth from her and she would have went to Jail. You need to be in jail to if you think Mary deserved to be threaten by a grown as woman.
I threaten all who supports child abuse. I'm not saying anne was the main cause, henry was, but a just like a little kindness goes a long way, u never for get ur abuser. I can't blame mary for persecuting Protestants when history is littered with worse offenders. I'm just glad i know her background and support her and what she tried in her abused mind to make right. I'm not blind to c what anne help to supported but i also c she was an opprotunist.
Well, we'll have to agree to disagree then. But I see people always blaming the woman. Henry doesn't get any blame for what he did to Mary. And I would never support child abuse, having been abused myself by my peers. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
Henry should have been killed when he suggested a divorce from Cathrine. There was no grounds when they had like 5-7 kids. His competancy should have been enough to dethrone him. I think Cathrine was just stupid to not seek backup from her nephew with henry. If she had taken the field i doubt there would have been that much bloodshed because she was a fair and just queen but like most women's social behavior, some of us get blind to men's faults. That also wasn't the best thing to show Mary.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Mary deserved it because she hated Protestants. And she did nothing for England. She wanted England to be Spain's lapdog. If Spain had its way, Europe and progress would still be in the Dark Ages. I'm sick of Catherine and Mary fans thumbing me down for stating the truth. Anne and Elizabeth did far more for the world and were far more admirable.
So what if Mary wanted peace with Spain. Spain held a lot of power back then. That was a good political move. I if i was her i would hate protestants as well. Look at the chaos that Protestants brought back in those days. Considering that 2Mary Catholicism was family, (charles and Mary had a very good relationship throughout their lives) she needed that connection to both religion and her family. Also Mary did do for England. She brought honor, tradition and virtue back to England.
I'll give Elizabeth earned her dues as being how people redefined "bastard" and how high you can go with being born one and to be born to parents who didn't understand the meaning of shame and dishonor. But at the same time she only made it because of Mary's love for her. Let's not forget Mary could have killer her. She had the power. Her hatered for Anne alone is cause enough for her to have killed Elizabeth. Most would argue the choices was religion or love.
Remember that Anne supported new religious ideas and therefore may truly have believed that Katherine was not Henry's wife, and was therefore doing nothing wrong by courting him, and we do know for a fact that she refused to become intimate with him until she knew they would wed. Once queen, she also gave huge sums of her personal allowance to the poor and even washed their hands and feet. You may be judging her wrongly.
Yes Anne could have believed that. I just saying when Henry agree for the Pope to judge the matter of the divorce, it was like todays times going to court to get a divorce. When the desision came back it was final. So she needed to accept that she was not a queen.Anne was all about image. It was a queen's duty to do that stuff as Cathrine did the same thing the only diff is that Cathrine didnt use blood money that was stolen for the Catholic Church. That is how the crown got so rich so fast.
I guess you're right. I'm now an avid Catherine and Mary supporter, despite the fact I would have gone to my deaths under them. BTW, why don't you like Elizabeth either?
It's not that i dont like elizabeth but after all the things Henry put the kingdom through, to recover it had to take time. Time was not on Mary and Edward's side. Every heir brought what they thought was the best for england in hopes of making her better. To say that Elizabeth did a better job and that she was the greatest is not fair to Mary or Edward. The didn't have the time to make a difference.Edward died b4 he could do anything. Mary went into her riegn with conflict and died 7yrs later.
@BabyDLowe I am so happy that someond agress with me, everyone or at least people that watch the tudors always say that they are on Anne side that they love her, I can clearly see why, because the Tudors made her Beautiful, so there for people would be drawn to Anne, but history has said that Anne was plain in the face and boring!! in my opinon Catherine has suffered and her daugter marry a thounds times more than Anne and Elizebeth.
Catherine Parr wasn't cunning. She just knew what had happened to his other queens (abandoned/beheaded/neglected) and knew not to step over the line. That's not cunning, that's being smart.
P.S. stop dissing Anne Boleyn please! She's my favorite queen! Please!
@TheStarSorceress Regardless if she's your favorite, I'm still feel strongly that Anne was not a nice person. I felt that she had many chances to be a great human yet her actions in life were the wrong ones. There is nothing honorable about her. She was the mistress. That was just one of her faults.Like i ask people who defend her, would you have wanted her to be your step-mother? She had nothing to loss from befriending mary. Yet her friendship was on terms. Her way. That's her biggest sin.
@TheStarSorceress Nobody gives a damn if she's your favorite queen. The woman you look up to was nothing but a whore. She didn't care who she hurt as long as she became queen. She played with fire and got burned. That's her own fault.
It's like Katherine Of Ann is princess Diana and Anne boleyn is Camilla Parker.
@lloydistosexy omg thank god someone said that about Camilla. that B***! i watched the wedding ceremony and wanted to vomit.. after 20 yrs of sleeping with royalty, she still couldnt read and rehearse her lines properly in front of an audience. that whore!
@melikab Lol glad to be of service. I hate Camilla. The fact the she wears Diana's jewels(well really the royal jewels but you know what I mean), parades around Diana's children and thinks she's some kind of Angel. Women who participate in adultery are just as bad as the men!
I doubt Charles will ever be King. The people hate him and they definitely hate Camilla.
@BabyDLowe She was a coquette, and that is the most seductive quality a woman or a man can possess. Despite her flaws, which were many, Anne was cunning and deeply ambitious; she used her seductive coquettish quality as an art form that even Queen Cleopatra would envy to rise from a mere subject to the most powerful woman in the realm: "Queen." Her foolish temper, insecurities, and awful judgment was her undoing. Anne was extraordinary; she also changed the religious faith of an entire nation.
@ThePharaoho I'm sorry but I have to say she wasn't the one to change the religiouse faith of an entire natioin. Yes, she was a big supporter. But had the really changer of the nation was Henry. Maybe even Cromwell and Crammer. However Anne was I feel still to self serving and was a whore. If the Pope had of granted the divorce then Anne would have sucked it up and still been a Catholic.
@BabyDLowe Yes, it was Henry who orchestrated it all, but why? Because of Ann and her power over him. Henry was a very weak tyrant; he only cared about himself and to hell with everyone else. He even executed many of his friends who didn't make things happen for him and was easily offended, not the conduct of a King at all! Ann controlled Henry for a time and in order to marry her he had to break with Rome. Anglicanism was born. Ann is at fault, but not entirely. Catherine was a class act!
She was determined, strong and very set in her beliefs, much as her mother Queen Isabel of Castille was. Both Catherine and her sister Joan had unexpected turns from most favored to rejected in their lives. Such tragedies.

@BabyDLowe
Catherine Parr wasn't cunning. She just knew what had happened to his other queens (abandoned/beheaded/neglected) and knew not to step over the line. That's not cunning, that's being smart.
P.S. stop dissing Anne Boleyn please! She's my favorite queen! Please!
TheStarSorceress 1 year ago
@TheStarSorceress Regardless if she's your favorite, I'm still feel strongly that Anne was not a nice person. I felt that she had many chances to be a great human yet her actions in life were the wrong ones. There is nothing honorable about her. She was the mistress. That was just one of her faults.Like i ask people who defend her, would you have wanted her to be your step-mother? She had nothing to loss from befriending mary. Yet her friendship was on terms. Her way. That's her biggest sin.
BabyDLowe 1 year ago 3
@TheStarSorceress Nobody gives a damn if she's your favorite queen. The woman you look up to was nothing but a whore. She didn't care who she hurt as long as she became queen. She played with fire and got burned. That's her own fault.
It's like Katherine Of Ann is princess Diana and Anne boleyn is Camilla Parker.
lloydistosexy 1 year ago
@lloydistosexy omg thank god someone said that about Camilla. that B***! i watched the wedding ceremony and wanted to vomit.. after 20 yrs of sleeping with royalty, she still couldnt read and rehearse her lines properly in front of an audience. that whore!
melikab 1 year ago
@melikab Lol glad to be of service. I hate Camilla. The fact the she wears Diana's jewels(well really the royal jewels but you know what I mean), parades around Diana's children and thinks she's some kind of Angel. Women who participate in adultery are just as bad as the men!
I doubt Charles will ever be King. The people hate him and they definitely hate Camilla.

@BabyDLowe Exactly! No sympathy here either!

ThePharaoho 8 months ago
@ThePharaoho I'm sorry but I have to say she wasn't the one to change the religiouse faith of an entire natioin. Yes, she was a big supporter. But had the really changer of the nation was Henry. Maybe even Cromwell and Crammer. However Anne was I feel still to self serving and was a whore. If the Pope had of granted the divorce then Anne would have sucked it up and still been a Catholic.
BabyDLowe 8 months ago
@BabyDLowe Yes, it was Henry who orchestrated it all, but why? Because of Ann and her power over him. Henry was a very weak tyrant; he only cared about himself and to hell with everyone else. He even executed many of his friends who didn't make things happen for him and was easily offended, not the conduct of a King at all! Ann controlled Henry for a time and in order to marry her he had to break with Rome. Anglicanism was born. Ann is at fault, but not entirely. Catherine was a class act!

@BabyDLowe Anne was never a Catholic, she was Protestant. Catherine of Aragon and Jane Seymour were Catholics.
