  • hahahaha 1:26 - 1:48

and under the description it says:

"For two decades he has lent his varied talents to innumerable projects in the music industry"

  • Press 5 for Chinese "Tone" accent.

  • Shut up guys he's probably better than you terdbuckets

  • Mr.ray was so much better at teaching me than this old clown

  • That was so boring mr.ray is better than this clown

  • Guys you must breathe as well.

  • I have never been more bored in my life listening to this ass clown. It made me want to bury my head under the ground and quit music for good! I just started trombone but I had better tone than this ass whole.

  • @Eroc8615 It's not like somebody actualy made you watch the video...

  • well yea u have to make air

  • Alright guys, this isn't a very intense video for lessons. In a very basic sense, yeah, tightening and loosening your lips is what changes pitch. I'm sure this is a good trombone player. Maybe not an expert but it's not a particularly bad video.

Besides, if you want to actually learn how to play the trombone (or any instrument for that matter) you're not gonna get too much out of YouTube video lessons anyways.

  • bruh.......u suck

  • lol

  • This guy is a fucking idiot,he probably has no idea what he's talking about. He probably doesn't have any experience with all the instruments he makes videos about.

  • 1:27-1:39 Queer

  • 1:25 I started to wonder if he was really an expert from that point.

  • What the... His body so tight when buzzing... WHAT THE...

  • Lol yeah he sounds like a pro but he is NOT.. What kind of teaching lessons is this?!? Alan raph is better!!!!(Of course) This is not expertvillage !!! Should be SpoilerVillage Because they are teaching wrong things as the Teacher don`t look like an experienced one...

  • thank you.

  • This guy is right about what he is saying, but the high register needs more explaining. When you go higher your supposed to use faster air and your corners are supposed to tighten up. When you do this you should feel like you are pulling "down" on the muscles in your embouchure(this makes the aperture smaller and allows you to play higher). The higher you go, the faster the air has to be.

  • If you say you are better than him then why don't you make yourself a video & post so we can see how good y'all really are. That would be more useful, better than staying here talking shit.

  • LOl he should be a comdiean XD. at least these are free though. Not all info is correct (ive been playing trombone for 2 years) but its funny watching the mistakes XD.

  • he makes it sound like you raise your jaw up to play higher notes, and that just gets you a nasty pinched sound

  • does he have sploodge on his arm?

  • It's called moving your jaw down. Are really an expert?

  • This guy is totally full of crap. His advice is more damaging than good. You should always relate mouthpiece buzzing to the instrument -- if he buzzed like that and put the mouthpiece into the horn, it would sound HORRIBLE! Also, different partials are as much about the shape of the inner mouth than the position of the lips. It's a shame -- ExpertVillage is a good idea gone bad!!

  • ExpertVilliage is constantly horrible! I normally avoid anything from then unless I want to read how bad they are doing.

I play drums and their "expert" is a joke.

  • uugghhh. im trying to get better not learn trombone -.-

  • You are a master buzzer, I don't do this nonsense because the tightly buzzing lips don't let enuff air through. to make a beautiful soundyou need a 5mmm gap. when you speak and sing your voice box is OPEN to make a good sound.

  • "tightening" and "loosening" your embouchure may work, but it is incredibly inefficient. redirecting the angle of airflow is the proper way to traverse the overtone series. if you just tighten to get higher pitches, you will blow out your chops real fast on the higher range. it's also not good for the pressure it puts on your upper teeth.

  • Thanks a lot for the advice. It's too bad there's so many rude people out there that leave rude comments.

  • Come on guys, he's a help to many idiots like me, We need all the help we can get, remember, he's playing for us beginners as a teacher, not performing for you as a big star for your entertainment. Be nice guys. RKS.

  • I disagree. I taught myself how to play and was just accepted into Oklahoma University's trombone choir. I NEVER took a single lesson. I also play first chair, first part in my community orchestra.

  • that takes alot of patience and endurance to do thats great man i got lots of respect for you now

  • ... community bands? that's not much of a statement, i'm sorry to burst your bubble.

my point? take private lessons, kids.

  • Whatever dude. I have been playing low brass for 20 years. I would shame you with my credentials on the trombone. I can not say I've "got them all down" I play trombone very well, other low bras better than most but when it comes to anything with a small bore I have never been able to do much. And brass instruments come in several different keys and, well, Like I said, 20 years, 10 of those in higher education and I can not play them all. With 5 years you are either a god or an arrogant a-hole.

  • @jameslandonband I vote for the latter.

That's mostly what one gets on expertvillage comments. A whole load of crappy asshats who have never taught beginning students and who make rude comments about people posting information of extremely basic mechanics. Contrary to these peoples beliefs (unfounded as they are) one does not need to be an expert in a particular instrument to teach the basics in playing said instrument.

  • You never want to "push air" through the horn you just want to let it flow that'll fix your nasal sound.

  • Make him stop.... please.

  • This guy is probably a band instructor. He plays one instrument expertly, and all the other instruments only so-so. That's all that can be expected.

  • ur buzz souds great, you make me laugh all day, you're the best...

  • they should change their name to idiotvillage, all these "teachers" are morons and are no where close to experts.

  • @Zombbg4 i know right! im better than him!

  • ROFL 1:26-1:40

  • nice ass trombone son

  • that is a horrible sound

  • omfg freakin awful.

  • Butt fucker. :D

  • He gets alot of double buzz, in like all his videos. (I'm not sure if there is a term for it but I just call it double buzz)

  • There is a term for it. It's called - "being really shit at playing the trombone but trying to satisfy a self-gratifying urge by pissing off all who listen to this substandard farmyard impression".

  • I'm sorry, but this guy doesn't really understand what he is talking about. The sole purpose of the lips is to vibrate. The change in pitch comes from controling the level of the tongue in the mouth (like when whistling) and the speed/intensity of the air and NOT by deliberately tightening the lips. These should stay as relaxed as possible in order to vibrate. His weren't which is why he couldn't buzz right up and down without the sound breaking up!

  • moving the head up when ascending and down when descending is cute but actually a habit many people carry over to the instrument.

  • The motion of the head is quite common, and not superfluous. The angle of the trombone in relation to the face is rarely constant.
